Db2 on z/OS is very resilient, powerful, reliable, expandable and highly available.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no graphical interface tool for Db2 on z/OS that is easy and as reliable as the ISPF based tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The retirement of knowledgable professionals working on the mainframe systems.

Our company has been running DB2 for quite a while and it has been stable environment

Keeping the knowlegde since most knowledgable people are retiring. Need more class for newbies

Keeping DB2 version current. New functions

What do you like best about the product?
DB2 is a very powerful database for large enterprise systems like healthcare. It is powerful in creating a large scale relational database for high volume, high performance, high availability application. I've had the pleasure of using DB2 in our healthcare system with billions of data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not at the moment as each upgrade enhances DB2 for the better.

Health Care system. It is very powerful for high volume, high performace, high availability.

Security needs to be improved in this product like many other databases omit databse as the critical element as the bas actors are going after that

Performance and reliability are the main characteristic. I would highlight maturity and support level as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
No support for multicloud/multi datacenter transaction management. That requirement is getting critical as companies start deploying their multi-cloud strategies.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Core banking products' transactions.
Provided a sound foundation for SQL understanding
What do you like best about the product?
Was able to port knowledge obtained from extensive Oracle and SQL Server background. Made the transition to DB2 easy. Like the flexibility to use QMF for Workstation as well as several of the features provided with DB2 Data Studio.
What do you dislike about the product?
Fluidity of functionality between DB2 UDB and DB2 z/oS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Core business datastore. Houses our claims, member and provider databases.

Pattern devlopment on Pureapp and HADR capabilities.

Learning curve in getting detailed performance metrics more deep under the hood than the surface/natural stuff.

RDBMS at scale for core distributed applications.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Carefully plan out your compute platform you intend to host DB2 on for performance and cost implementation advantages over others (AIX on Pseries vs. PureApp vs. Linux).

Db2 is allows for a lot of customization on the DBAs end to best suit the business needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Db2 has a lot of manual maintenance/configuration that needs to be performed by DBAs.

Db2 allows for the secure, stable, and scalable storage of data.
