Comprehensive Vulnerability Scanning
What do you like best about the product?
I like the expanded featureset that Tenable.sc offers and how different scanners in different sites and networks can all be integrated and analyzed in one main console. It has a wealth of information that is all able to be organized into a clean and customizable tailored report for whatever you are looking for with remediation suggestions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the complications of linking a repository to a scan and incorporating different benchmarks into those scans. There are way too many areas that need configuring and settings applied which seem redundant. I think it would be helpful to have a bit more consolidation of functionality and more available functionality out of the box or integrated directly into the application. Their wiki and documentation needs improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Identifying vulnerabilities in our environment. The benefit of proactively patching and how areas needing improvement can easily be identified and categorized.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Plan your future target environment ahead of time.
Deception point
What do you like best about the product?
The interface and scan results are efficient.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the huge number of bugs and malfunction that makes the product not fully usable in our infra
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tenable.io has negatively impacted my job due to lack of support and competencies to solve our issues.
Close to one year after the first roll-out, multiple features are not working and whereas support is aware, they are not able to solve the issue. Not enough energy is given to us to solve our issues.
More and more bugs are discovered, and this impact dramatically the global cost of the project.
So, I'm not solving problems, but it is creating problems

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go to Tenable.sc or use another vendor/product
Take care of features that are not implemented, Tenable is promoting a new tool with the buggy features of Tenable.IO that doubles the pricing of the solution. Not fair at all.

Nessus worth the investment
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to use and schedules allow you to set it up and forget about running scans. The scans run themselves and the data keeps fresh
What do you dislike about the product?
Not sure on this one. I guess it could always be less expensive. It's kind of a rinse, recycle process, because you're just getting feedback on what you tell it to. I'd image something with more independence or intelligence is going to certainly cost more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm able to scan our internal networks and understand what issues need addressing - right now or in the near future. It keeps me on my toes.
Tenable/Nessus Vuln Scanner
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, you can be up and running in just a few minutes. Easy to automate scheduled scans and reporting. Executive summaries are great for showing progress to the less technically inclined while still containing enough relevant detail to make them useful to the technical side as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overly verbose or not applicable vulns are displayed fairly often, requiring additional research to see if things are applicable. Can be a bit convoluted when attempting to omit certain plugins or checks. A more simplified scan interface would be nice. Would also like to see an internal database of targets/hosts to run individual adhoc scans without having to setup full scans.
Automated reporting can easily fill up a drive if left unattended, be sure to put some sort of cleanup or archiving system in place.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy to satisfy compliance requirements, and harden systems. Cheaper in the long run to purchase a license and run internal scans to clear up vulnerabilities while using a third party for those quarterly/annual scans for the compliance side of things.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Creating both an external scanner and an internal one is easy to setup and get rolling, ensure you are taking into consideration the fragility of your systems before scanning though, since we did have some services become unresponsive during and after the scans.
This has been my favorite scanning utility. It is also available as a preconfigured VM, an Amazon EC2 appliance, a preconfigured hardware appliance or a cloud service. Tenable has a wide variety of plugins which gives Nessus the ability to interface with basically any networked device. In addition, Nessus can be easily integrated with most major patch management systems, which gives administrators the ability to verify that updates are installing as they should be. Nessus can also be deployed with endpoint agents, which allow vulnerability scanning to occur offline and scan results can be collected after. This is valuable for mobile workforces where assets may not always be connected to the corporate network. The endpoint agents also allow Nessus to perform malware scanning. If a zero-day has been identified within the organization, Nessus can be used to quickly check for other machines that have been infected organization-wide.

Great product - helps to keep us secure
What do you like best about the product?
While we try to patch our systems, there are times things are missed. We use Tenable to find missing patches. Additionally, we can find out when vulnerabilities are still there even after patches are installed. Also, it can tell us when applications need updates, not just the OS. The interface is easy to navigate and, since we use the cloud service, the footprint is light.
What do you dislike about the product?
While it finds the vulnerabilities, it does not help with the remediation. Of course, it is not designed to do this and we have other systems to install patches. There is a little learning curve and some installations before it is usable - for instance, to get full vulnerability discovery an agent needs to be installed on the server. We only use Windows servers so I do not know how it works for Linux or other servers. Also, if I setup a dashboard I cannot share it with others.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Vulnerability management - it is great at finding vulnerabilities on our systems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look at the cloud version - very lightweight and works as expected.
Execellent for Large Companies

I love the scale-ability and ease of use of Tenable IO
What do you dislike about the product?
I did not dislike anything about Tenable io
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
ASV and monthly vulnerability scanning.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly scale-able, easy to use and setup, allows multiple users at the same time, allows users to see only scans they created, etc.
The best vulnerability management tools on the market
What do you like best about the product?
Tenable offer many products that vary in cost and functionality based on the needs of the customer.
Tenable.SC is a medium/large enterprise solution, providing on premise vulnerability scanning. From a administrator point of view, connecting new sub nets and devices for scanning is very simple and takes very little administrator effort to maintain.
From a user point of view, generating vulnerability reports is very easy and the 'out of the box' reports are very well laid out and could be presented to stakeholders with no modification if required.

What do you dislike about the product?
Tenable support team is difficult to work with at times. User experience is very reliant on the engineer that you are assigned
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Providing full vulnerability scans of estate, managed centrally from the UK reaching assets in the EU, US and APAC.
In my current role, Nessus professional deployed on a laptop is being used to provide customers, single site vulnerability scans. Portable vulnerability scanning service.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you require vulnerability scanning, Tenable is the most reputable source. Depending on the level required, Nessus professional can be more than sufficient. Tenable.SC/IO is great for larger organizations to deploy in house
