Critical capability for Engineering Teams

  • July 16, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
DX provides critical visibility into how the engineering organization is performing through a combination of qualitative and quantitative data. Notably, your organization's performance can be compared to a larger set of industry data to see where you stand. For a company that's serious about making the developer experience a competitive advantage for their business, it's game changing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the more nascent functionality like Data Cloud requires a fair amount of effort to draw more advanced insights from. Though access to the raw data through SQL is available, visualizing the data through the DX interface is behind what you can do with other data analytics tools. Fortunately this can be circumvented by plugging the data directly into existing business intelligence tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DX radically cuts down the time required to collect and make sense of developer experience data.

Using DX for three quarters

  • July 16, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
UX of the product is great. Product is based on their own research on developer productivity.
I enjoy that the product gets constantly updated. They deliver really useful features almost every Q. DX team provide yiu with not just a product but also with a consulting of developer experience. Their sales and account team are doing great job with explaining you how the product work, analysing results of your company, listening to the feedback we provide, collaborating with Engineering Managers on how to resolve team's issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing so far. Please be aware that intergration of DX and similar tool is not an easy task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a CTO I have a high-level overview of developer experience in the whole organization. It helps me with creating better engineering strategy to tackle really system issues.

Powerful tools to measure and improve developer experience

  • July 16, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The survey product has been very useful for us!
- We consistently see particpation rates of 95%+ whereas before we were seeing under 50%. For context, we run the survey quarterly.
- It's easy to set up
- Everyone can easily analyze the results and gain insights
- The support provided by the DX team is great (shout out to Jen)
What do you dislike about the product?
We're still learning how to derive significant value from their products such as Data Cloud, PlatformX and Onboarding. More handholding and guidance here would be helpful
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DX is solving two problems for us,
- Getting high participation for gathering feedback about the developer experience
- Making it easy for everyone to see and analyze the results which helps drive improvements in the numbers.

Unlock the power of qualitative feedback

  • July 16, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
DX gives you feedback about how productive and effective your developers are by simply asking your developers. You get regular quarterly surveys that take qualitative questions and turn them into measures to be improved. Use it to understand your opportunities as well as your successes.
What do you dislike about the product?
The survey product is the backbone of their offering. You need a culture that's ready to give feedback and a leadership willing to make changes in response to that feedback.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Measuring developer experience, efficiency, and productivity. We were previously relying on homegrown surveys which weren't backed by the latest research like DX is.

We have been using DX for the last year and it is a very useful tool for Cabify

  • July 16, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The tool allows us to obtain very important data from our engineering equipment and gives us the possibility to configure different measurement parameters, as well as to perform CSATs on more specific issues of each team.
What do you dislike about the product?
One area for improvement is the management of teams and the configuration of persons/teams. Probably an API that would allow us to integrate this part with our tools would make it much easier and would allow us to spend less time configuring each Quarter.

Sometimes, we find unexpected improvements (not a bad thing) that we would have liked to know about beforehand.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to identify some recurring problems in the engineering team. The possibility to include comments, as well as the summary made by the AI, are good data that we get.
In addition, the comparisons, both between teams and with previous snapshots, as well as with the rest of the industry, is very relevant information.

DX Provides the ability to get a perspective of their organization's state across many drivers

  • July 15, 2024

2. Easy to use
3. Actionable results
4. Simple integration with slack
5. Not time-consuming for developers
What do you dislike about the product?

2. Easier onboarding/offboarding people as the organization changes - I haven't tried the
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting insight into the engineering team perspective on how our organization is performing across important drivers

DXTool is a one-stop solution for all your developer productivity needs.

  • July 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Industry benchmarking, comparisons with previous snapshots, and heatmaps provide valuable insights by thoroughly analyzing the results. These tools are extremely useful for understanding the precise status of the metrics.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be helpful to have a hypothesis when numbers move up or down drastically, along with a module for root cause analysis of these changes. The Interview feature is quite useful, but additional enhancements would be beneficial.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps in providing developer productivity index for our company.

Developer Experience from the Developers!

  • July 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I feared some of the other 'productivity' tools based on PRs/points as they can be gamed by teams and can warp goals/targets of the developers. DX provides a direct line to the hands on team members, giving them a voice and platform to call out specific pain points in their teams and/or day-to-day efforts. The ability to slice and dice the data across a series of vectors makes it easy to drill down on problem areas. It was also very simple to get up and running.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the frequency of quarterly snapshots can feel like a lot for the teams, especially when they have company-wide and/or engagement surveys that are being requested as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As our Technology organization has grown, it's harder to get a unified perspective across the developer experience. DX has to consolidate the perspectives into one system, that can track quarterly the progression (good or bad), allowing us to identify where there is smoke before it becomes a real serious issue.

Excellent way to increase Developers effectiveness and Satisfaction

  • July 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
DX provides an actionable way to address gaps in the internal developer experience. Every Snapshot result points at specific issues that are slowing down or frustrating our Engineers, with the ability to slice the data across different dimensions. The anecdotal data from the comments, provides a lot more colour and allows us to find themes easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd love to see more intelligence in the heatmap, with suggestions around how to better drill down on results. In an ideal world, the tool would tell us "this group of people feel this way because of..." across all of the dimensions, but that's not surfaced directly (you just need to do some analysis). They already started leveraging AI in the main screen so I can see how this would be possible in the future.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Identifying gaps in our engineering experience, including developer effectiveness and satisfaction

A great product for global software engineering teams

  • July 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
DX stands out due to its well-thought-out features from start to finish.
Here are the key aspects I find most beneficial:

Ease of Setup: The ability to set up automatic snapshots for obtaining subjective, transparent feedback is remarkably straightforward.
User Interface: The interface offers excellent filtering capabilities, making it easy to visualize results and correlate them with objective metrics.
Data Accessibility: It empowers all users with unlimited capabilities to run queries on collected data, enhancing analytical possibilities.
Guidance on Efficiency: DX provides a comprehensive set of guidelines, known as the Atlas, which offers strategic advice on addressing inefficiencies across various drivers of software engineering.
Organizational Impact: The product has been instrumental in our organizational transformation, proving invaluable following our merger and acquisition activities.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a couple of areas where enhancements could be made:
1) I would appreciate integration with Google Chat. Currently, DX supports only Microsoft Teams and Slack.
2) The platform restricts team leaders to managing only one team. However, organizational needs often require leaders to oversee multiple teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DX is significantly enhancing our operational efficiency and team cohesion by providing tools and insights that drive informed decision-making and proactive problem-solving
