A secure OS
What do you like best about the product?
The regular updates from the RHEL gives the secure environment and also RHEL provides the LTS for the releases.
It also has a compatibility with wide range of tools and software.

As it is widely used OS in the current IT ecosystem but due to cost/licensing fees has a major drawback.

I have configured master slave architecture for the cluster nodes for processing the high computational work.
Best Enterprise Level Server Class Operating System
What do you like best about the product?
Stable and robust operating System to host Industry standard enterprise business applications, excellent performance, strong security features, scalable, user administration is simple, no headache of frequent security patches, compatible with Hyper converged and vmware ESX environments. Entire OS can be controlled through command line and now GUI has also improved. Best for hosting DNS and bulk email and sms services. Uptime is better than Microsoft OS. Hardening features are stronger than Microsoft OS.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not compatible with Microsoft apps. OS Licensing is becoming expensive. Upgrade of OS version is not straight forward and have kernel level dependencies most of the time and because of which even application version can be upgraded. Staff skills shortage. Not friendly with cloud environment specially azure cloud. Command line features needs improvement as compared to microsoft power shell. Most of the antivirus software are not compatible except few.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are hosting trading business frontend and back office applications purchased from applications vendors on this OS, also hosting dns services and bulk email services.

The biggest dislike about this is its way too expensive. Like other Linux softwares it's not open source and hence charge fees
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The most benefiting thing about this software is its capability to ensure security of data. For a big Enterprise their data is the most important thing for them and red hat never fails.
Best OS for server
What do you like best about the product?
I have been using this OS for our company's internal server due to it's features and since it in Linux-based, virus attack chances are very low in it. Along with that the management options in this OS very amazing due to its functionalities and ease of management.
What do you dislike about the product?
It comes with a very high price and not all people know how to use it, so we need to provide training to are team members.

I have been using it for my company's internal server creation for file sharing using NextCloud setup done on it.

The product's built-in security features when it comes to simplifying risk reduction and maintaining compliance can be a tedious topic. It varies from user to user, however, it offers a lot of rapid releases. It helps us to simplify risk reduction and maintain compliance.
The portability of applications and containers built on the product when it comes to keeping your organization agile is good. It's easy to use.
It enhances our security. It helps us comply with company regulations.
When it comes to ensuring availability across physical virtual and cloud infrastructure, it's been okay so far.

What needs improvement?
I consider the solution to be sufficient. I do not use it too much and therefore do not see any underlying problems with the solution.
It's sufficient and it doesn't need new features. However, as new technologies enter the market, I hope they will keep up with the changing market.
From a product point of view, it's very efficient for servers. However, the solution is complex in terms of its architecture. It could be simplified. I'd like to see them introduce PDFs or documents to better explain technicalities to new users.
Memorizing commands can be a bit tedious.

I've been using the solution for two years.

The product has been stable so far.

The solution is deployed to the data center, which is managed only by a few teams.
About 150 people are using the solution. We also have 45 to 50 administrators as they are managing different areas.
The solution is scalable. However, I'm not sure if we plan to scale further in the future.

I have not interacted with support very much.
How was the initial setup?
I was involved in the deployment. The initial setup was very straightforward.
The deployment is fast and the process is efficient.

I did a lot of the implementation myself.

I did not evaluate other options.
What other advice do I have?
I'd rate the solution an eight out of ten.
I'd advise new users to learn from someone who has done everything before. It's much easier than trying to learn by yourself from scratch. They should also have their own environment for testing.

We are using redhat linux as an operation systems for various application servers and webservers where non-windows operating systems are supported by the application vendor.
The best solution for Enterprise systems(cloud)
What do you like best about the product?
The awesome support and the community backed applications make red hat the most popular OS to install hypervisors on. The stability of this OS makes for a very reliable option for any company.
What do you dislike about the product?
A lot of the features of this OS is hidden behind a license paywall, so if without license there is very low benefits of running this instead of a more open source OS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Red hat Enterprise is used as a base OS for hypervisors, we usually use VMware esxi on top of this to create multiple virtual machines for our cloud. Being highly stable it provides reliability as well as good support for our system overall.

What needs improvement?
Upgrading between versions needs to be easier. For example, if we have Red Hat Seven running now and a Java exploit is found on Red Hat Seven, we need to be able to upgrade to Red Hat Nine online without any downtime in the environment. This is because it is not possible to reinstall the environment from Red Hat Seven to Red Hat Nine in production without causing downtime to the applications. Red Hat needs to have tools that ensure that we can upgrade from Red Hat Seven to Nine online without any issues.

We previously used Proxmox and switched to Red Hat Enterprise Linux because of the price.

The initial setup is straightforward because it is well-documented. The deployment time depends on the application. A small application can take around 20 minutes.

The implementation was completed in-house.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The cost is based on each organization's budget and infrastructure.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Red Hat Enterprise Linux nine out of ten.
The ease of moving workloads between the cloud and our data center depends on the application architecture. If the application has a monolithic infrastructure, it may be easier to move to the cloud. However, if the application is already running mostly in the data center, it may be more difficult because we would need to recreate all of the infrastructure and topology from scratch. This is because there are so many parts to consider when migrating a microservices-based application to the cloud.
For someone who wants to use an open source Linux operating system, I would recommend Rocky Linux. However, they should be aware that open source solutions do not come with the same level of support as Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Four network team members are required to maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
The Red Hat knowledge base is good and well-documented.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux is the only Linux solution that is supported for enterprise-level organizations. I recommend this solution for large organizations that want professional support for their Linux systems.
