A good API Management and Integration product with rich features
What do you like best about the product?
A single unified platform with both good API management and integration capabilities that serve the purpose of a complete middleware platform to build enterprise applications. Specifically, the API management features like security, throttling, governance, monetization etc., are pretty good compared to its competitors and easy to understand and start with for newbies. The new versions of EI have also improved over the previous ones, which makes development easy. Also, being open source, customizations can be done, which is good. WSO2 Support's assistance is commendable in resolving issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Though WSO2 API Manager and EI have strong capabilities, they still lack stability, and some bugs exist. The setting up can sometimes be challenging due to some minor config issues. In WSO2 EI, there is still scope for improvement compared to other proprietary tools like Mulesoft, where the development of APIs' is easy, possibly due to the nature of its underlying framework. The GUI of both APIM and Integration Studio can be improved. Documentation also has scope for improvement that can reduce issues, and users won't have to reach out to the support team every time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We mainly use WSO2 API Manager as a gateway to expose the business APIs'/services. Its rich API management features like security, throttling, and analytics greatly benefit us.

WSO2 API Manager gives simplicity, robustness and maturity.
What do you dislike about the product?
High skilled technical people required for a smooth adoption.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At the very beginning the platform solved internal API exposition and quickly became the only way to expose proxies to the public cloud.

What do you dislike about the product?
I coudn't think of anything that I dislike about the product. Only point I could mention is complexity in migrating from the old versions.
Other than that I like the product 100%

A competitive API management and Analytics solution
What do you like best about the product?
WSO2 API Manager does not change per transaction so great option for enterprise looking for fixed annual expenses.

Cost-effective solution for big governmental frameworks
What do you like best about the product?
Solution has cost-effective plans for medium and big governmental frameworks. It provides time to get onboarded and decide whether it is appropriate for concrete business needs.
Also, API M is great in field of many integrations and different technological frameworks. If you doubt, give it a try - you will love it.

What do you dislike about the product?
There is a chance that solution won't be appropriate for small businesses, because solutions implementation expects a team and continuous management and development.
Appropriate business/feature analysis before implementation is highly recommended.

API Manager helped us to migrate from an old legacy solution and maintain integration with its under-systems for old client business need fulfilling.
Ease of customisation allowed us to redesign processes, optimize them and provide API M for our clients as a self-service platform which allowed us to free inner resources and use them for platform improvement and decelopment

Best API Management platform
What do you like best about the product?
WSO2 API Manager is the product I have used for the POC for a telecom company. I am a big fan of open source and tried this product for API Management requirements for one of my clients. The setup was quick and easy, with only java requirements on the machine. The web portals publisher, dev portal, and admin console have a rich web UI in react JS with easy navigation to the features available. The product documentation is good, with a quick search option on the website. Use cases based tutorials are beneficial to map the requirement with proposed deployment patterns, sequence usage and applying the rate-limiting policies. I have implemented an all-in-one two-node cluster VM-based deployment. I liked the hot deployable feature for debugging via log4j2.properties, and wire logging helped get the end-to-end traceability of the request/response.
What do you dislike about the product?
There was an analytics requirement to get insights into the APIs usage; however, starting with version 4, the same is available in the cloud-based platform Choreo. We have checked the on-premise option, but the same is available with ELK with a custom setup and requires effort to set up and manage the infrastructure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had some legacy and some services to be developed using java/spring-boot. WSO2 API Manager helped expose both kinds of services as REST and with no-code changes on legacy services via XML-JSON transformation.API governance for certain services was critical, and token-based API access helped manage the same. WSO2 APIM also helped in API Analytics for business decision-making towards monetising specific APIs.

What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes config the product is not an easy task.
It could be useful if we could export APIs using the client tool from one version to another (2.6.0 to 3.2.0 for example)

Feature rich API Management solution
What do you like best about the product?
Since the very first day of onboarding with the WSO2 product, we`ve worked closely with their support team. They helped us with the different challenges / issues we were facing and despite the fact we have an important time zone offset, they are very prompt to respond to any request we have. The WSO2 API Manager is now used in production for multiple projects we we are still expanding with many more incoming projects in the roadmap
What do you dislike about the product?
Containerized deployment documentations not upto the mark. It is distributed across multiple sections. And i feel like few corner cases are not fully documented.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides platform where we can expose our apis to partners in quick time and also in controlled way at the same time. It also helps in montioring api usage. It is very easy to plugin wso2 product to AI cyber tools for detecting cyber attacks.
