Sumologic is a pretty good tool for what it does.
What do you like best about the product?
I think it's amazing how fast sumo can search through millions of logs to find exactly what I'm searching for. The speed and configurability is really great.
What do you dislike about the product?
One problem is sometimes the frontend is a little clunky or lags when loading all that data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I generally use it when debugging production support issues. It lets us go back and see what happened.
Great tool for analyzing logs and creating quick dashboards for all purposes.
What do you like best about the product?
We use Sumologic mostly for log analysis. One of the easiest tools to create quick dashboards using the logs. We've created numerous dashboards on the fly when we needed to look at some quick numbers and data. We've also help a lot of the testing teams creating dashboards that eliminate the need of scrolling through hundreds of lines of logs. One of the other advantages is with centralized logging the process of going through approvals to view the logs for each servers and applications have now been eliminated. Also the ease of use has contributed to a good adoption rate.
What do you dislike about the product?
A search using keywords gets the results but getting the surrounding messages can be a little tricky and someone who hasn't had much experience with SumoLogic can get overwhelmed while trying to get those messages. I've seen couple of instances where a developer went back to using a telnet client like Putty to look at logs. Once someone has spent enough time with SumoLogic it becomes a default tool to analyze the logs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the key uses we've seen was during the holidays when we wanted to get the specific numbers and display it in the big screen for all business and this was done quite easily using Sumo. It helped tremendously to analyze the numbers and find issues.

What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is to integrate with your software product. It's also very easy to use and fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would prefer if there was more documentation available for creating more advanced query searches.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our product is entirely AWS Lambda-based. Development wouldn't be possible without sumo logic's logging capabilities. Also, debugging is seamless with sumo.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get familiar with how the querying language works; it's very powerful if used correctly.
Very competitive to Splunk
What do you like best about the product?
90% of the functionality of splunk but a fraction of the work to get up and running.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the built in reporting isn't in sync with the current vendor log formats. Content library isn't as extensive as Splunk.

SumoLogic is very powerful when you need it to be but also quite easy to get going with.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the error messages aren't clear as to what is actually wrong with your query so at times you have to play around with the query. SumoLogic support is awesome though.

My Experience with Sumo
What do you like best about the product?
Sumo is an endlessly-customizable way to quickly access what I need from my company's extensive server logs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sumo's character limits do sometimes cut off information that I need from particular logs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sumo's intuitive interface allows frontline support reps at my company to access a vast array of data to solve customer requests at lightning speed. No need for long waits to request logs from engineering teams, and no need to pull off engineers off their projects to help troubleshoot customer issues in most cases.

What do you like best about the product?
endless customization of queries... the ability to pull in logs from so many sources and piece them all together in a single, correlated thread without having to go to multiple places and manually piece logs together. so much time and effort saved!

tooltips aren't always very clear, insofar as explaining syntax goes
