Best workflow orchestration platform for data pipelines
What do you like best about the product?
Prefect is intuitive to use and has a phenomenal Python SDK which makes integration extremely easy. For those looking to setup complex development workflows in Python, Prefect is the ideal solution. Moreover, their Marvin library has been instrumental in helping us build and ship quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
The documentation is still a work in progress, and this can sometimes become a bit of a hindrance in development. Thankfully, the Prefect slack & discord communities are quite active
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prefect helps orchestrate workflows so that we can easily see when tasks in our data ingestion pipeline break. This allows for quick debugging and having good visibility into which processes are consuming many resources and time.

Excellent tool for orchestrating ETL processes.
What do you like best about the product?
If you have an experienced development team with good knowledge of Python and don't need a combiner called airflow, then Prefect would be a better choice due to more compact code. Also, Perfect Cloud gives you 10,000 free successful task runs per month, which might be good for a small project.
What do you dislike about the product?
With a high degree of probability, you will have to spend time on performance tuning, but the effect is worth it. I would like to at least optionally be able to generate a DAG.

Perfect 2 helps organize ETL process automation and orchestration.

What do you like best about the product?
Reliable, easy to use, what we reach for whenever we need to run some kind of data processing in a schedule. The UI is slick and makes it easy to maintain/monitor our flows

Some deployment pains- we wish there was a Terraform provider that controlled the state of deployments (this is on their product roadmap).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data processing scripts that run on a schedule with some built-in monitoring/robustness

- The integration with DaskClusters needs to be improved
- The documentation is not so clear and has few practical examples
- The migration from v1 to v2 related to infrastructure was huge and maybe it was better to have minor changes rather than a major impact in the clients

The facility of using Prefect flows for modeling users that don't have enough knowledge of development.

Great Orchestration Tool
What do you like best about the product?
One of the standout features of Prefect is its intuitive and developer-friendly interface. Unlike some other orchestration tools that require hours of tutorials and complex scripting just to get started, Prefect embraces simplicity. The visual workflow designer is a stroke of genius, allowing me to design, modify, and manage workflows with unprecedented ease.
What do you dislike about the product?
Prefect's flexibility can sometimes be a double-edged sword. For users who want to fine-tune their workflows to meet specific requirements, the plethora of options and configuration settings might be overwhelming. It's possible to spend a considerable amount of time experimenting with different settings to optimize performance and behavior.

Prefect addresses several common challenges in the field of workflow orchestration and data pipeline management, benefiting users by providing solutions that enhance efficiency, reliability, and flexibility.

Easy to setup. Extremely customizable. Flows are extremely easy to setup

A bit of a hassle to deploy on proper infrastrucutre. Had to refer to nohup to use scheduler on lolac

With prefect we were able to easily setup all the data pipelines. Also managing dependencies is way easier.

We had to read and test for a couple of days to get the development environment up and running and connect to the cloud.
In the documentation, more examples are missing, such as the connection with Gitlab (there are only examples with Github) and there are a couple of differences that we solved with the community

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Give visibility to our automatic processes. It allows us to see, on a dashboard and at a glance, the health of our small ecosystem of processes.
In addition, with Prefect Cloud, it gives us the possibility to monitor in real time from anywhere without having to connect to our VPN.

What do you like best about the product?
It's quite easy to learn, especially if you have previous experience with a scheduling tool like Airflow. The documentation is well written. Even without prior Prefect experience you are able to understand high level what the code is doing. This makes it possible for fellow developers to quickly understand how the scheduling works.
What do you dislike about the product?
In my experience Airflow is still the default tool. This makes it a bit more difficult to convince other people to use it in a new project.

Automating data pipelines at different clients. Compared with other scheduling tools it saved me development time and the code is easy to read so easy to share with other developers.

Easy orchestration and visualization, also its decorator in python make it a tool a super easy-to-learn tool.

Its documentation, should appear more tutorial about how to use it using docker and deploy it in aws

Best Workflow Experience I Have Found
What do you like best about the product?
The developer experience is seamless. Getting started is so easy and the flexibility of the framework goes so far beyond anything else I have used. And the icing on the cake is that the community and the developers supporting it are so helpful for anything you are trying to accomplish.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is still relatively new off of its 2.0 release. So there are still some features that are on their way. The management of different environments (staging vs prod) still doesn't feel extremely well supported. A few other minor things as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We run all of our data pipelines and ML model workflows through prefect. It makes orchestrating our hundreds of pipelines easy.
