Great for data visualization
What do you like best about the product?
Tableau allows me to take a large collection of data, and turns them into great visualizations. The design is pretty intuitive. I love that the product is well built out and mature--there are great communities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not as easy to learn--it requires a significant training phase for successful deployments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work for a company with many and large sets, Tableau was a little hard to learn at first, but it helped me visualize trends with the data and make educated decisions on the product. I would have not been able to do this with excel. q
Great data visualization software
What do you like best about the product?
I enjoyed how the software allowed me to create pivot tables on steroids. I could show all of my business needs visually instead of using a second rate pivot table.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve was rather steep to master.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been able to explain a paragraph's worth of data in one simple chart
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is difficult to master at first, but keep toying with it or take a class and you will be able to fully harness the power of Tableau.

What do you like best about the product?
Anticipates the format of your data file to easily create and manipulate reports. Easy to learn the application. I was able to teach myself using the help material within the product and through trial and error.
What do you dislike about the product?
Formatting text fonts. It would be nice if you could right-click on the text you want to change and have the format options available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Able to see daily trends to keep a close eye on operations.

Tableau gives you a lot of flexibility to create graphs and dashboards to visualize your data
What do you dislike about the product?
Parsing your data to get exactly what you would like to graph/visualize is not as easy as other tools such as Microsoft Power BI

What do you like best about the product?
Product is intuitive and performance is excellent. Keep in mind that in-memory process is local to desktop. When running server-side there will be some sacrifice in to performance, but increase in data and information security.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau targets visualization discovery and analytic. Business unit mistaken this visualization as reporting. Product trails behind in enterprise reporting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sales clients are wanting real-time visualization manufacturing progress and production.

Due to Tableau license structure, put more thought into you solution architecture. This will ease administration.

What do you like best about the product?
The amount of information tableau can hold. It houses everything from availability of products to status of accounts.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that tableau runs so slow! The loading time is extremely slow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem I am solving is targeting accounts that are missing information, low on information or not utilizing their account to the fullest. The benefit is being able to catch these things before they turn into an issue.

If you can use it, use it! It holds a lot of information all in one place.
Great BI tool for the novice data scientist, but lacks functionality for advanced users
What do you like best about the product?
For those coming from Excel spreadsheets and workbooks, this is a great tool that's very friendly and easy to use. You are easily able to connect to data from many sources and easily visualize and aggregate information.
The server works very well with Desktop and with features like alerts, email subscriptions, and auto refreshes, this is far superior to the industry gold standard Crystal Reports.

What do you dislike about the product?
For advanced users Tableau is very limited. It is very limited on count distinct and usually requires a "hack" to get most things working. As an example, combining sums and count distinct in a single sheet is not easy, especially when dealing with calculated grand totals.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Key reporting on financial and operational data to solve day to day problems.
Solid visualizations
What do you like best about the product?
Really great visualizations that can be easily understood by everyone in the company.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be clunky to use on the backend, but with some training its easier to navigate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data visualizations!! We share them out with the whole company every Monday vs just looking at Excel spreadsheets.
Tableau Reporting SLOW
What do you like best about the product?
A lot of the reporting is nice to have but I have used better reporting systems in the past.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes FOREVER to pull a report in Tableau and drives everyone on my team crazy!!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reporting is a big part of what we do so we need to be able to pull it from somewhere.

What do you like best about the product?
The best part of Tableau is the ability to clearly decipher sales out information. It also allows you to break the sales down into granular categories.
What do you dislike about the product?
The software takes up a lot of space on your computer and sometimes is slow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau allows you to see gaps in your customers buying patterns and allows you to find growth opportunities.
