Visualization and market research are enhanced with valuable insights

  • May 19, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I am supporting a product company for market analysis and market research where we are using Tableau.

For retargeting and validating purchasing decisions, we use AI to create visualizations for predicting spending habits for the next six months for different categories.

What is most valuable?

The most effective features of Tableau for data analysis are visualization, comparison, and data analysis, which is much practical in this kind of project.

We are using AI features in Tableau.

For retargeting and validating purchasing decisions, we use AI to create visualizations for predicting spending habits for the next six months for different categories.

What needs improvement?

The interface needs improvement as sometimes it is locked, and it takes some time for the visualization and dashboards to load. There is some delay if the data volume is high, and the failure log is not always practical.

The failure log sometimes does not give every detail about why the data has failed.

Installing Tableau is not easy.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Tableau for around four years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is easy to handle large sets of data as Tableau supports large data sets, and it is all about structuring and defining the data.

I rate the scalability of Tableau as nine as it is very scalable.

It is not expensive to scale.

How are customer service and support?

I rate technical support from Salesforce around ten, as the support is good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What was our ROI?

Tableau is saving me time, money, and resources, which I would rate as ten.

I see the savings around 20 to 25%.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding pricing, I consider it around six.

It is a bit on the pricey side, so I rate it around six.

What other advice do I have?

Failure-related data sometimes does not seem practical, but that is acceptable.

While maintenance is a core task, it is easier compared to any other product.

Maintenance is taken care of by another team. I am a service provider and only look into market intelligence elements as a strategic consultant for them.

I am a founder who supports consulting and product development, market strategy, and software development for different clients.

My email is satyawrat@mindclickconsulting.com.

I rate Tableau overall around 8.5.

Tableau from and end user's perspective

  • May 11, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau dashboards are simple to use and make data exploration a whole lot easier. It supports a wide range of data sources, making it simple for me to create visualisations with multiple points of information. Drag-and-drop capability simplifies chart generation, and even complicated dashboards are simple to explore and customise. Tableau's interactive dashboards provide stakeholders with complete control over how they explore data. Tableau makes it easier to provide live updates and share reports with the community. It also works well on browsers and on mobile devices, making it easy to access from anywhere.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau does not offer an AI assistant to walk you through difficult queries, and the learning curve is high for beginners. Working with large data sets has a negative impact on performance. In terms of pricing, PowerBI appears to be less expensive than Tableau. It is inconvenient to distribute dashboards outside of the Tableau environment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau helps to tackle the problem of delayed and unclear data access. Before Tableau, I had to manually retrieve data from numerous sources and convert it to a standardized format for visualization. I can filter and examine it independently because Tableau supports data from several sources. As a result, I am less reliant on others, have more time, and am more productive. Additionally, it has greatly facilitated my ability to handle vast volumes of data, enabling me to make data-driven decisions more quickly and confidently. Also, the dashboard sharing function has improved my collaboration with my colleagues and made it easier to work on projects together.

The cost of Tableau is higher than other analytics tool in the market.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau helps me with data cleaning and publishing reports with the capability of highly interactive visualization dashboards which are easy to understand for the leadership.

Drill-down and interactivity provide detailed data analysis for quick decision-making

  • April 23, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Tableau for providing business insights. Instead of depending on Excel files, I provide information to the business users to make quicker decisions.

What is most valuable?

The drill-down approach and interactivity in Tableau are highly effective. Users can filter out specific information they are looking into. The interactive, action-based approach allows for detailed data analysis. For example, if I want to drill down from state information to region-wise information, I can click on a region, and the dashboard filters out to show performance analysis of that specific region.

What needs improvement?

Tableau currently lacks some modern features like AI generative approaches, video type analytics, voice command, and some predictive analytics features. These are limitations I hope will be addressed in future versions.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Tableau for the last five years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

Deployment requires a Tableau Bridge when connecting from Tableau Cloud to an on-prem server, which can be tricky. This process takes a couple of days for configuration and setup.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There have been issues where suddenly the site will not respond, requiring a restart. The application hangs after continuous use due to the buildup of cache, necessitating manual clearing of temporary files to restore functionality.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Tableau is easy to scale. For an increasing number of users, it's straightforward to approach the sales department for an extension.

How are customer service and support?

I am mostly satisfied with Salesforce's support, rating it nine out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, I worked with Business Objects of SAP. I stopped using it about one and a half years ago.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is very easy and doesn't require much time.

What was our ROI?

The main cost-saving aspect is reducing resource costs by investing in a Tableau license and developer, which decreases the need for several MIS personnel.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Tableau licensing costs vary based on the number of user licenses. For example, a license for 150 users costs around $17,000 USD per year. However, the cost is justified as it reduces the need for other resources.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Some clients consider Power BI due to its cost-effectiveness. However, I still recommend Tableau for its superior functionality compared to Power BI.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend Tableau as a pure data analytics tool that provides more insights to business users in a much easier way than other market tools. My overall rating for Tableau is nine out of ten.

Industry leading flexible solution

  • April 22, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau is great for building and automating a custom holistic reporting view without a ton of internal resources needed at the get go.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times when I am viewing a published report online, it can take time to load the page, especially when I am pulling multiple dashboards that use multiple data sources, into a single view.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau assists with navigating through complex datasets, and pinpointing actionable insights that we would otherwise not be able to view. It helps inform high level decision making based on analytics available in our Tableau instance.
