The ability of Dynatrace to be able to narrow down the issue and segregate each process. It makes thing easier to understand where the issue is and allowed us to focus more time on performance improvement.

The ability to look at purepaths for a single time slice is diminished.

We started by testing Dynatrace on a single homegrown product. After 3 days of pilot, the integration architect came back saying that he solved performance problems that would have taken him weeks to solve otherwise. We are now using it in production, but with the caveat that we are missing a principled approach to what we are monitoring and when we should worry, i.e. when we need to alert (and please do not say baseline).

What do you like best about the product?
User friendly , pro active analysis assist.
What do you dislike about the product?
Good if we can have for other products like mq
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Performance of applications, root cause analysis
Dynatrace is a great product for understanding your business
What do you like best about the product?
Dynatrace helps me understand how my applications are performing - from the front end user experience all the way down to databases of underlying services. It gives me a fantastic view of the health of my applications and alerts me when something is up. Also knowing that there are features out there that I haven’t used makes it seem like we’ve only scratched the surface on what Dynatrace can do
What do you dislike about the product?
Dynatrace can take some time to learn. The newer versions are much more intuitive, but it still requires some training to really get the benefits. Given everything Dynatrace can do, it’s not surprising, but I’d like to see it become even simpler for software engineers to get up and running so they can start getting valuable insights
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring of digital assets in ways that we hadn’t had before. I dont think Humana had a tool like Dynatrace before we implemented Dynatrace, so we were like kids on Christmas when we first were able to look at purepaths and follow a request. It completely changed how we triaged production issues, as well as prepared releases for production
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Dynatrace had a ton of features we have only scratched the surface on using. I believe that Dynatrace has a solution for most problems that you could encounter in the apm/user monitoring space
My Dynatrace Review
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate Dynatraces ability to evaluate large amounts of data that will help indicate choke points in our API system quickly. Dynatrace helps pinpoint exactly where issues arise in our APIs, if it’s from our own APIs or from third party APIs that we call.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much I dislike about Dynatrace. Currently, it solves the problems that we have for it, and solves them well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a team that develops APIs primarily, we use Dynatrace to help monitor our production environment, and help deduce where slowdowns or errors are happening in our stack. Our model is one where we call around 30 other departments services, so having the ability to trace these within our service calls is invaluable and will allow us to be able to quickly resolve issues. We are looking forward to better using Dynatrace to help indicate errors before they are reported by our users, this is a downfall of our team though, not Dynatrace.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Dynatrace is a powerful tool that will allow you to quickly analyze your environment for issues and possible resolutions.
