Expedient Product Usage Insight
What do you like best about the product?
I have been able to quickly gain insight to how our product is being used and the trouble shooting capability with Session Replay has benefited our Customer Support Team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have only been using Dynatrace for approx 6 months. I'm still learning the ins/outs of how to quickly gain insight into application health and P0/P1 type incidents for proper monitoring/alerting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick troubleshooting and incident investigation. User session replay has been advantageous across multiple teams, with the ability to provide quick inisght.
Just started using Dynatrace and haven't yet dug into all the functionality we are hoping to use
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to set up and start using, lots of resources available to help you get started and acquainted with the product. Dynatrace university is a very helpful tool to help you get started. So far I've relied heavily on the classes and webinars to get started and they have all been very helpful. The chat functionality has also been a great help.
What do you dislike about the product?
No easy way to search through SQL errors, would like to be able to search or filter through errors to find specific ones that caused the issue along with other issues with coinciding timing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using for monitoring our servers. At this time we are using it to help pinpoint issues and errors within our environments.

Dynatrace releases frequent updates and great support

Steep learning curve initially but taking a course makes things much easier

Unified telemetry for a variety of technologies in an easy to user interface that allows us to trace across our complex enterprise stack.

Not all technologies we required are currently supported. Not all features from AppMon have been ported over at this time.

This APM looks better user friendly tool for the user experience and Good in monitoring tool.

Data Insights; Cloud Agnostic; Single pane of glass across all Clouds
What do you dislike about the product?
Initial on-boarding takes more time and it took sometime to realize the value of the tool. This put the pressure on the sponsor to report progress to their management chain.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before Dynatrace, we were flying blind with respect to our application issues and always had to guess; The second issue Dynatrace solved is, we now have one monitoring system for both infrastructure and Application.

Please be prepared for the complexity on the Day 1 of your journey.

Anamoly detection, installation is easy.

setting up end 2 end monitoring, alerting etc took us few months. would be nice to reduce this time.

process level memory issues. monitoring the infra and app layers in Prod

Depends up on the business needs, but in general a good APM tool overall to use.

What do you like best about the product?
code level tracing, recommendations, AI option. Not expert in using of DEM but this module looks very helpful for customer experience feedback, small trick here, in case of budget limit, because this options cost not small amount of money, you can use it for VIP customer.
What do you dislike about the product?
all fits to my expectation, just needs time to analyze data. price is higher if compering with another APM tools, but the results that Dynatrace gives to user I think It's worth it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
application performance, team got more interconnected. seeing issues that was not visible before and monitoring team was able to detect only front side issues, which was mostly reproducible when getting complains from users. Tool show exact path of every transaction from user to very back end application server. Can catch what is wrong with detailed recommendation and root cause analysis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
start with small steps, install agent one by one. analyze each alert you receive from dynatrace. It need teams culture change to receive full result and this takes time, so expect some resistance before ice melts. .

Limitation to web-based applications without breaking the bank.

We are seeing more data which traces persistent issues. It has allowed us to quickly identify the errors occurring over time and provide faster fixes.

Work with your SR to tell them what you want, not what you expect of a product... it will surprise you what's available.
