Sumo Logic to the rescue

What do you like best about the product?
Creating complex search queries is very easy. Parsing the results into a certain format, such as JSON is also very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Speed. When querying something >30 days the search is really slow. I have, however, noticed drastic improvements in the speed in which searches complete so I am guessing Sumo Logic has made great strides in their search speed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have all of our production level logs funneled into Sumo Logic. It has made setting up alerts incredibly easy.

Great for log aggregation

What do you like best about the product?
It is very useful for log aggregation across multiple application nodes in Amazon Ec2.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't the ability to forward logs to an amazon s3 bucket if you don't ingest the logs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to improve our time to resolution. With sumologic, we are able to triage an incident much quicker.

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to monitor logs from any system. Powerful query language, dashboards and alerting make this logging system a great choice for small to large companies. Centralized management of the collector agents allow easy updating of remote systems,
What do you dislike about the product?
The query language has a pretty steep learning curve. The (collector) agents are pretty large in size and require an included Java run-time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Logging of applications, OS and S3 bucket logs all from a single interface.

What do you like best about the product?
Excellent features to monitor the logging data on various servers so that real time maintenance can be done.
What do you dislike about the product?
there is no dislike of this product . Probably slightly easier to use. There are special certifications i need to do to understand how to write code in this which is bit hard. and they can have better visualizations
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
monitor logs and understanding how the various servers are being used
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its a great software to monitor your servers in real time to give updates. It also has good features to integrate with softwares like slack to give you on time notification in case something goes wrong

Crunch the log without too much effort

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use in Crunching the Log , We were using them for Log Processing.
However we migrated to ELK
What do you dislike about the product?
Expensive , We discontinued them due to expensiveness. so we migrated to ELK
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used to process for Nginx/SSH/Git access Log.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Awesome Product , Easy to setup However It's expensive.
They need to revise their cost model.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that this tool allows our company to look into the details of our system's health.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have many dislikes. The product is fairly technical so requires training to understand it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are looking at maintaining our queue health and reduce backlog so the reporting helps with this.

Flexible query language and built in functions; SaaS; continuous product improvements; not as expensive as Splunk for what you get

Slow performance; some boneheaded product features or lack of features, such as the way queries are saved and organized, and the way teams work

Easy to use, quick results

What do you like best about the product?
Very quick to add collectors to start importing data. Using the built-in dashboards for the products you import makes getting results easy and quick.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve with the query language if you want to do more advanced analytics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring of applications and identification of infrastructure issues.

Great Logging tool

What do you like best about the product?
The UI and export options. It's very easy to navigate around. Searching around is very easy as well. Compared to other logging tools have used in the past, this is definitely the best. Reading the documentation to understand different syntax definitely helps, it will makes your life easier trust me.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't dislike anything about it so far. The new beta UI, looks very nice as well, Can't wait for it to go GA. Splunk was another tool I use, but if I had to pick one between both, I'll definitely go with sumo logic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Logging issue, we want to retrieve logs of our application, especially when there's an error. Based on what we see, we can then know how to troubleshoot the error correctly. Different teams rely on this tool to be able to successfully perform their duty correctly, so far I can say it's working as expected.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Learn how to export correctly, Also, read documentations of the tool, so you don't spend extra quality work time trying to figure out how to use the tool. My biggest challenge was exporting in CSV with the data I needed, once I figured this out, my life was easier from there. I'll definitely recommend spending time with the documentation before diving into the application.
Double check with your IT team to make sure you have access to the source category that you need, which is one of the issue I faced, not having proper access, once granted it was smooth sailing from there on.
