IBM MQ is the Backbone of Middleware domain

  • September 13, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
IBM MQ is probably one of the oldest middleware solutions provided by IBM. MQ means messaging queuing which essentially works as a transport medium to transport any sort of message or data from source to the destination. MQ has all types of resources like queues, channels, queue manager, process definitions, etc.
IBM MQ can offer you point to point and clustered setup based on your network requirement. If you have only 2 parties where one is the source and the other destination then P2P is more advantageous, but if you have many queue managers and they are interlinked with different services they support then have a clustered setup and establishing a full repository accompanied with few partial repositories would be a good option for you.
IBM MQ is capable of handling the highest security implementations possible. We have upgraded the latest TLS on the system and it was successfully deployed with new cert exchange also happening without any issues. There can also be security at CLN
What do you dislike about the product?
IBM MQ has been there forever and they have always tried to perfect it more and more in each version. My biggest concern with the software is the patching process, if you encounter any bug they will give you a temporary solution but you will need to wait till the next patch comes out for that bug to be addressed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our whole middleware system is based on MQ interfacing with Websphere message broker and Websphere Datapower Gateway. The beauty of IBM MQ is that it is wire-speed, stable, can not be hacked, non-repudiable, integrity is intact and surity of messaf
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for an Enterprise level solution for handling transport of data from source to the destination safe, secure, non-repudiation, intact an

Market leader in Middleware Technology

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
IBM MQ is a proprietary software from IBM. We have purchased the Enterprise edition in which you can create as many new queue managers and connections you want. The best part about it is that is the safest option for a message delivery system. It offers you non- repudiation, integrity of the message, checksum and all this is happening at wire speed for literally millions of transactions each day. The software has a bit of learning curve but once you fully understand the functionality, you realise how powerful, stable and fast it is compared to any other competitive products. IBM MQ is the best software available in the market for setting up a new PUB-SUB model or a full & partial repositories clustering model or even a one to one connection queue manager model. I have never seen better resource management that IBM MQ does in the clustering.
What do you dislike about the product?
Well, no complaints from the software as such. But, IBM support team takes a lot of time to respond if you raise a problem ticket to them. We have to open a SEV 1 call bridge to get them on call and that support is very expensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been working on IBM MQ for more than 5 years now. We have delivered so many projects where the new platform was IBM MQ and they have been going on for ages without any issues, just regular health checks on queue managers and channel connections between them. It integrates so smoothly with IBM DataPower and IBM Message Broker which makes the transportation, orchestration and rendering of the messages so easy to implement.
