Pingdom monitoring service
What do you like best about the product?
Cloud based service, easy to setup multiple domains and multiple alert levels.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although it seems nearly unavoidable, we will frequently use up all of our SMS alerts anytime a server goes down for scheduled updates late at night. Typically we'll get an SMS alert for each domain stating that it is down, and then within 5 minutes we'll get an SMS alert stating that it is back online.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Website uptime monitoring.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Competitively priced monitoring service that provides some peace of mind that you will be first to know if a website is down.

Real Time Monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
Solar winds is a powerful tool that helps you to maintain your systems in a real-time fashion. It allows you to drill down and find any possible issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislike it is a slick tool
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use for monitoring our network and storage
A lot of good information!
What do you like best about the product?
I like how well it keeps track of our storage, letting us know if there are any issues. The predictions on disks/volumes filling up are useful for capacity planning purposes. I also really like the Performance Analyzer, which is driven by the new metrics features - the ability to drag and drop various metrics and rearrange things easily is a fabulous feature. The ability to have more than just one manufacturer's worth of storage listed and compared is very handy, giving us the ability to see the whole environment instead of just pieces.
What do you dislike about the product?
The appstack displays seem to not always accurately portray our environment at the higher abstraction levels (meaning at the application layers), though it's usually close enough to be useful. In some cases it seems to have its own look and feel to it, which isn't necessarily bad but isn't like the rest of the SW suite.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As mentioned, using it for capacity management and planning has more than paid for its additional cost. We can see at a glance what LUNs are more filled and which are less, how long we expect it to be before we'll have to add space, and can really dig into performance characteristics far more easily than it had been using our SAN-vendor's tools.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
While I haven't seen them recently, I was pleasantly surprised that the demos and screenshots really do give you a decent feel for what the product really brings to the table. I suspect this is still the case, so I suggest to get on the phone with your SW rep and see if you can swing a demonstration!
Solarwinds was a good product to see server status at a glance
What do you like best about the product?
I liked being able to drill down into each network interface to see what sort of traffic was coming through. I could drill down to a specific connection and see details.
What do you dislike about the product?
A local application might be better as far as speed goes. It was slow to connect and move around at peak times during the business day.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our Support team was able to monitor all activity in one place.
SAM gives you the flexibility to monitor anything.
What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to configure with templates readily available and ready to be customized.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't always get my users to cough up credentials for me to monitor their applications.

Solid Monitoring Solution
What do you like best about the product?
This is a reliable tool for monitoring a lot of different things in your IT environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Creating and especially modifying your setup is a little awkward and time consuming. I would really prefer a simpler navigation to only the section I want to modify and then to be able to save it without navigating through other workflow screens until the Save button is finally displayed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have some highly fluid application disk usage and this allows us to stay on top of it and address constraints quickly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a reliable product, but weigh its setup & pricing carefully.
Review of Librato
What do you like best about the product?
I like that you do not need to install anything when using this program. As a not very technically savvy person, I get really nervous when I need to download new applications to my computer that I haven't heard of, so it's not to not feel as threatened by not needing to download anything to use it. Librato can also do the same things as its competitors, but has a very reasonable price in comparison. The interface is very simple so it makes it very user friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think that lots of little improvements could be made to this application, and knowing how to make things more advanced would be helpful. If you are going for cheap, this is your application, but there are some others that are more advanced than this. It can be hard sometimes to set up and figure out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use this for data configuration and analysis in a group setting. I would in a research laboratory so we use this application to consolidate and review the data for the entire lab. It was an easier transition in learning since some of the lab members had been using the application for some time before the rest of us starting using it. I would suggesting finding someone to help you learn it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would take the time to look at some of the competitors as well and determine if it will satisfy your needs.

No complaints so far. Hoping this trend keeps up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring and management at its best.
