I like how it is a seamless product that monitors all or our networking devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
The website tends to slow to a crawl and becomes unusable until we repair the site
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Constant monitoring of our equipment
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just work out the performance issues and I’d be happy

Great tool for throwing in data
What do you like best about the product?
Hosting over 6 sites has its challenegs and papertrail has helped us solve one of them. We can now monitor our logs from all our sites in one place with easy search logic. Filtering random junk is really easy and we can get alerted if there is ever a significant spike.
What do you dislike about the product?
Integration with a ticketing system and summarization by individual alert type would be helpful but is not present.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are now able to at least monitor thousands of logs per day.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have a lot of logs and can’t afford to go with an expensive monitoring solution this is a great way to at least have centralized logging.
Very Intuitive Configuration Management
What do you like best about the product?
the software is intuitive and easy to use. The alerting system both for policy alerts and real time configuration management is great! It is so easy to push out bulk configuration updates to multiple network devices by group for when large numbers of change need to be made. There is also a system for built in Chang approval for configuration jobs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Configuration policy application is difficult to apply correctly, but works well once it is done right.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Configuration backups, configuration policy compliance, bulk network device changes
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Cisco Prime is more in one with Cisco specific devices, but if you want one tool for all your monitoring needs, NCM is a great option.

Some of the features require moderate setup.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The tracking of agents to their assignments.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great platform
Pingdom | Monitor websites easily
What do you like best about the product?
Pingdom is best for monitoring easily. It even has free plans but with limited functionality. The best thing is that it's really reliable!
What do you dislike about the product?
It has very less features for free accounts to explore upon. It should open up some of the features for only paid plan for people with free plan! This will allow more people to test out new features
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have set up checking up of our website and some other clients' websites using Pingdom for Uptime Statistics to prove that we have good uptime on our website! It has great charts, graphs to show when uptime or downtime took place
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want less features but free plan, go for the free plan of Pingdom! It should be good enough for just uptime checking, if not other features.
Hard to use product made easy.
What do you like best about the product?
The solar winds community (THWACK) is by far one of the best NPM community’s offering every support solution paid support ever could. from custom monitors, reports and even support for issues outside of SW. Both the free and paid SW support is also great. There is nothing you can’t monitor with SW, although built in support may not naively exist, the platform is very open ended to develop your own monitors.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very complex monitors sometimes take hours to set up with countless time spent on testing, checking metrics, setting alerts and then reviewing the community when all else fails. it really can be a full time job just managing the back end DB and all of the monitors for a small to medium NOC. quite resource intensive on the network, can add to latency in ping time when you have 1000s of nodes monitored remotely.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Complex network monitoring both on site, through multiple data centers, all the way through the network to customer sites, including monitoring video bandwidth, network latency, even when employees dock their computers in the morning. it is also great for monitoring SW versions and patch history, Service tags or SN's for inventory purposes and Costing for network usage across multiple sites.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Check the Fourms and community first, when calling free or paid support often the first questions out of their mounts is if you checked the knowledge base first, and often times their only support is to send the the applicable community or KB article.
Theres gotta be something better
What do you like best about the product?
Product is very user friendly and visually appealing
What do you dislike about the product?
Slow, ineffective for real time troubleshooting
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cpu utilization, connectivity
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There has to be something better
Loggly
What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can pinpoint down to the minute on when something occurred. Very useful when dealing with something I know just occurred minutes ago
What do you dislike about the product?
I need a longer time period than 7 days sometimes. When I search something with a dash in it I only want to see what I have searched it 1213-23878, instead I see 1213-_____ other numbers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Finding errors in learning tool integrations. Finding missing IDs for connection to courses and knowing which users are trying to click through our site.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'm still learning Loggly but I would recommend having someone who can really help train users since it can be hard to understand for non-tech brains.
The standard for network monitoring solutions
What do you like best about the product?
Many ways to customize dashboards, alerts, and reports. Easy to limit information based on roles.
What do you dislike about the product?
Performance issues can be hard to diagnose and fix.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quickly identifying the source of performance issues. Reporting of policy violations across hundreds of network devices. Repository for config backups.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider final scale of deployment when setting up the different required servers. Do not skimp on database performance.
