What do you like best about the product?
I like that it's a single pane of glass for everything on the network. It allows us to quickly see what's up and down in seconds.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can run a little slow, but that could be on the back end causing that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's great for alerting us when something is going wrong, when we can't be looking at everything.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really dive into what it's capable of because it can really bring a lot of benefit.

very thorough but key info like Node serial numbers is missing

Very slow. We nick named it "slower Winds"

Monitoring capability system wide.

Consider all aspects before switching
Good tool for overall monitoring, required more administration than I would like
What do you like best about the product?
The server and application monitor module in Solarwinds did a good job in discovering and configuring monitors for servers on our network. There was some configuration needed to get the product properly monitoring different types of servers (Ie SQL, SMTP) and some of the default alert thresholds were not in line with how our environment operates.

There was more configuration and monitoring of the tool than expected and we were not staffed to handle the load that created

Manageability with Solar Winds suite offers many capabilities beyond just monitoring

There are many different modules. It would be nice if the licensing was easier to manage

Be sure to get your team trained so that you can fully utilize this products capabilities

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to see everything in one place. Also, generate reports needed for the audit trail. I've been able to shorten my monthly review process with valuable tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike, as it makes the Compliance and SEcurity process easy. The company provides all training needed to ensure success with using their products/services.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Compliance, Risk, and Governance. We are able to maintain SLA's with the amazing tools. We are also able to provide up to date information and evidence for the ongoing audits.

Its an amazing application to use for daily roles related to Security
Software works well after initial setup
What do you like best about the product?
The interface makes it easy to see network health and status while providing great looking network maps, graphs and charts.
What do you dislike about the product?
The setup seems to be difficult at times and can take a decent amount of time to get tweaked just right.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to see detailed statistics about our network that we wouldn’t have been able to see otherwise.
Excellent solution for Network monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of install and administration. Setting up a new server was relatively simple to do and continued management was low.
What do you dislike about the product?
Licensing was quirky. Would have been nice to have a mobile app at the time I implemented it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simple solution for network monitoring. It met our needs in a large infrastructure.

The speed test features is not complete compared with the competitors

I like best that there are alternatives out there
What do you dislike about the product?
Most user experiences are designed by someone who would never use Solarwinds and sincerely hates people who do. Absolutely idiotic screen sequences and job flows, cryptic messages, and to add insult to injury - automatic refresh of the pages that don't change. For example, saved Cisco router configuration pages. Solarwinds's misanthropy has its day when after finding a few lines of config but before having the time to select and copy them, the page refreshes.

- not a dislike per se, but there are many hidden features. Wish staff could get better training on things they don't know that they don't know
