What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use tool with easy implementation.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was great for our needs. Satisfied with the outcomes and results of the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The goal is to increase Business value by reducing the downtime and increase application performance.
Application nd server monitoring. We also use it for NetFlow and alerting relevant parties.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Plan for what you are planning to monitor and what are the threshold levels. Its a bit trial and error for every organization but works like a charm after!

* Easy to install
* Many templates exist to do various things
* Support is helpful and can assist when needed
What do you dislike about the product?
* Difficult learning curve
* A bit complex and confusing after using Nagios primarily for the past 10 years
* Some limitations for things you can do in Nagios and can't do in SolarWinds
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using SAM for monitoring applications and processes on Windows and Linux servers. It's been great to visualize and track performance issues.

Good value for the money

What do you like best about the product?
Solarwinds is our main network management and monitoring platform, and NTA is a part of it. Netflow is a essential part of network analysis and troubleshooting, so NTA does what is supposed to do. It also provides more information like CBQoS, which is completely different from netflow but it does help, not many tools offer that option. NTA also drills down to conversations to get specific details about it.
What do you dislike about the product?
NTA has issues with some forms of flow packets that they claim to be compatible, like cflowd. Also, it is not possible to aggregate conversations or traffic from multiple sources, something that you can do with its competitors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Netflow analysis not only helps to troubleshoot and get specific data, it also provides our Information Security team a source of data to find or detect anomalies in our network traffic.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It gives you a lot of value for what you pay, but it's getting behind the competition. There are more advanced and not expensive netflow tools in the market. If netflow is the only feature you need it's best to look at other options.

What do you like best about the product?
I do like the auto generated ticketing feature that it sends to us when a site is offline.
What do you dislike about the product?
After the change of the web layout, it’s difficult to find the information needed as it was before. We are now unable to see which SW/port a device is on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps us determine and verify the source of a network issue.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, good GUI, lightweight, all the devices can be monitored at once
What do you dislike about the product?
Takes time to load, User Experience can be improved.

In my office, it is used to monitor Network Devices. It is very useful toh view all the devices in all the region and monitor them all at once.

What do you like best about the product?
SolarWinds Server and Application Monitor is a systems administration tool particularly for medium to large type of organisation, edge with to auto-finding nodes and gadgets.
SolarWinds packages include the Server and Application Monitor and offer more comprehensive monitoring capabilities.
The System Management Bundle from Solarwinds includes the Server and Application Monitor together with the company’s Virtualization Manager, which will give you more detailed controls over your virtual environments
What do you dislike about the product?
Custom application takes lot of time and some times the performance is really slow specially the UI after adding couple of hundred nodes. create rules to limit our false positives alerts can be really hard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
with SIngle pane of glass monitoring We are able to see the issue right away with SolarWind's real time monitoring capability and act upon it
With SolarWinds we are able to monitor our branch offices that are spread all over the United States.
NOC team and provide them a tool to use to monitor our locations and provide white glove service when an incident does occur.

What do you like best about the product?
The best is that I don't have to guess where an issue is as there are logs to help with that
What do you dislike about the product?
sometimes it doesn't precisely say where the issue is on the logs and I have to go to different teams to looks at their logs in the system inorder to determine where the issue is.

Sometimes there are some false alerts.
