What do you like best about the product?
NPM primary role is to monitor our store links to both onsite and cloud based systems. We utilize net path and net-flow data to maintaining our links and can easy identify and issues that may happen
What do you dislike about the product?
Be careful, licenses can get used up quickly if you're not careful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to quickly and simply identify broken internet paths and link utilization issues with NPM. It is also good for planning

Easy to use for non-network administrators

What do you like best about the product?
NPM provides insight into the network without being a network administrator. It is a easy to setup and maintain and provides data that would not typically be seen if you don't have the technical skills to get to that data.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I don't like about NPM. The only thing I wish Solarwinds did would be to include the services of NetFlow into NPM for a single lower price.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using NPM allows us to easily see the network performance of all devices on our network. We can use the data to see how much data is being pushed from our IIS servers or how much data a user is pulling from our filers. NPM also shows the performance of our Cisco switches which includes the network usage on each port, CPU usage for the switch, and also the health of the switches. NPM makes it easy for a non-network administrator to view all this data that would have never been seen otherwise.

The NPM NetPath service is also great to get an idea of connections speeds across your network. With complicated networks it would provide a deep look on how your network traffic is routed. You can also use NetPath to let you know if a service users connects to goes down (i.e IIS services, Facebook, etc...)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Works great alone, but it works even better with the rest of the SolarWinds products to give you overall view of performance of your systems

What do you like best about the product?
Its in-depth web-console give great insights within the network.
Simplicity of use, great analysis tools, range of support for different devices.
Manageability across different vendor products.
What do you dislike about the product?
the licensing is node based, and gets used up quickly,
it needs to be more flexible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
we have achieved business problems like Network Monitoring, effective troubleshooting, monitoring remote systems with the help of windows and linux agents, sending alerts , insights within the network and detailed analysis of the network, network path maps for better visualization.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Kindly consider to calculate the nodes that you want to add before hand to decide on the licenses .
you can still easily remove nodes if you find that you don't have enough licenses. however make a list of all that you want to include in the tool, calculate the nodes as per reference. this might help you handle your licenses in a better way.

-Not a good support system and insufficient documentation for support
-Expensive
-Heavy memory utilization
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can monitor and identify the issues and solved the problem within minimum amount of time. User friendly interface and alerts are very helpful for day to day work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try as a trial and do more research regarding the products during the trial period

What do you like best about the product?
It's intuitive and immediately puts you in control of your network. I've been using Solarwinds products for nearly 10 years now and have seen many improvements. The support community is great and the suite of products is always evolving.
What do you dislike about the product?
Network Atlas - despite all the general NPM improvements, sadly this never seems to evolve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When I first joined my current organisation, we were pretty much 'blind' on a monitoring front. Within a month of setting up NPM we immediately had perspective. Combine NPM with NCM & NTA and you're onto a winner!

Request a trial and get involved with the Thwack! community.

Easy setup, intuitive interface, highly customisable

It's a little bit pricey for what it is

NPM allows us to monitor the network in near realtime and see where bottlenecks occur

Definitely give it a trial - 30 day full feature trial available from their website.

What do you like best about the product?
Fairly easy to learn and use, even on the fly. Great support both from a paid support side and from the user community.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tons of different packages and varying requirements per package. Not the only company doing this type of model.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

I love how it puts everything at my fingertips. I can monitor multiples items with less people.
What do you dislike about the product?
The menu to the tabs changed, I am not a big fan on that.

What do you like best about the product?
The best way is to describe Solarwinds NPM is like a present like you unwrap it and find the goodies inside. NPM also either when you are setting it up or doing a drill down analysis you get everything and everything you need to to
What do you dislike about the product?
Its to customize-able and yo get lost initially of what you have to setup and and for me it was alot of manual work, i would like more automation especially when it comes to alerting, alot of the common alerts so be setup already. MIB's is the biggest pain for me as well like why cant i be easier to work with it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used have to go to every device to see what the issue was now we have a big overall picture of the network and you can find the root of the issues very quickly and efficiently,

Make sure you watch the training videos it will really help you out and Thwack is best when you need them!

What do you like best about the product?
I like the why you can dig in and find an issue. It has been a big help with customer network slow downs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some time I do get lost but that might just be me. I manage the group so I'm not always in it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Customer slowness is our biggest issues.
