Excellent consolidation of and access to server logs
What do you like best about the product?
Papertrail's searchability and aggregation makes it a stand-out product .
What do you dislike about the product?
It's very easy to run out of log space in a production environment which then quickly necessitates cost of service increases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Surfacing low-level issues that were being obscured by self-recovering processes or retrys.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Once you figure the initial installation and get yourself on the correct account tier, you can manage your own infrastructure's disc space by deleting local logs.

Very versatile product. I feel like the data is accurate

Some configuration can be difficult. GUI is not the most intuitive

Shows how traffic is flowing and where there is an issue.

simplicity and immediate value you get. the efforts spent is very minimal to configure but great value to control your devices

not really as a dislike but they are in progress to have pattern to all kind of devices

I managed majority of the active component in my ex company as network infrastructure . you can prepare the configuration to set of devices and automatically amend the changes with ready provided credential

i strongly recommend especially when it comes to immediate results and efficiency

I really like the search capabilities - it makes it quite easy to go in and find exactly what I'm looking for, especially when there's a lot of data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the tools feel a bit clunky, and the UI/X could stand for a bit of improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a centralized location for log data for multiple servers, client apps, etc. Furthermore, we wanted a way for our team to be able to review the data without needing access to production systems.

Make sure you realize that you may need to tweak exactly how you send your data

Pre-built dashboards and alerts allow you to add your nodes and immediately get value.
What do you dislike about the product?
Picking and configuring device templates is either really easy or really hard. If you run in to an issue getting a device template working or understanding how they measure ingress/egress it is a steep learning curve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a go to in troubleshooting network issues. We identify and alert on our critical network paths. This enables us to be proactive instead of waiting for user reports.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Run the free trial. You can see if it will work in your environment and integrate with your workflow. Ever software has it's quirks and SolarWinds lets you try pretty much anything for free. Take advantage of that.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can drill down very deeply into a server that you are monitoring and get real time results about the health of your servers.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface at times does not feel very user friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
After using Solarwinds we are able to be alerted quickly and resolve problems quickly.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that you can monitor many different processes, cpu, services, etc. to get notified when something is down. Also, you can set templates to save time when setting a server up for monitoring.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes we receive false alerts or the alerts are a little late by the time we realize a server is back up on it's own.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
To monitor services, etc. on servers to get notified when an application or service is down so we can check it out right away before users have time to call in to let us know they are having problems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a very good choice and can monitor many different aspects of your servers, in my opinion.

Is a powerful software, and has a good flexibility to monitor SNMP components

Need to improve the dashboard template because doesn´t have many gages or windows where I can set the variable I need.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. Monitoring ISP Hops using Netpath which can minimize my time in troubleshooting in case the traffic was facing problems outside my network.
2. My own view that has Utilization charts that shows me exactly what happened in the last 24 hours for example.

They give you a 30 day demo to test their modules, which you should take advantage off, the account managers are very helpful, ask them what you need, ive had session with support where they showed me the ins and outs before purchasing. they also have Virtual classrooms that show you the newest features where you can ask and have a chat with other customers.
