Another way to measure cloud metrics
What do you like best about the product?
Each task is not more than 2 clicks away, I like the fact that the interface gets right down to business with alerts and attributes tab.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not the easiest to use configuration and setup. Not as good as NPM or WUG, but it gets the job done at a lower cost.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are an e-commerce company with the primary focus on protecting our data. I like the fact that this is pay per use based on the number of data streams.
Decent experience with Solarwinds
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to handle all kinds of alerts in a matter of two clicks or less.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the support team's quality. Often the help comes copy-pasted from their KB articles, so there isn't much personalized help. The service desk ticketing site that it connects to is also a bit slow in syncing up with the dashboard so tickets don't close efficiently even when the alert has gone away.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Patch Management. Remote Access. Managed Antivirus. Disk space checks. Performance Monitoring. All are beneficial. Even when a server is down, we get the alert.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Beware of support. Beware of lag between sync of dashboard and service desk. Glitch between background manager and backup check on dashboard.
Great tool for throwing in data
What do you like best about the product?
Hosting over 6 sites has its challenegs and papertrail has helped us solve one of them. We can now monitor our logs from all our sites in one place with easy search logic. Filtering random junk is really easy and we can get alerted if there is ever a significant spike.
What do you dislike about the product?
Integration with a ticketing system and summarization by individual alert type would be helpful but is not present.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are now able to at least monitor thousands of logs per day.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have a lot of logs and can’t afford to go with an expensive monitoring solution this is a great way to at least have centralized logging.
Cost elusive
What do you like best about the product?
I like honestly the ability of the software to provide what our business needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing is often too confusing and much too inconsistent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integration and deployment for all our software as a service
Granular Infrastructure and OS Monitoring with no Intuition or Artificial Intelligence
What do you like best about the product?
SolarWinds SAM is highly customizable and can monitor almost anything on a server that can be accessed remotely. AppInsight monitors provide very rich performance data. NetPath and Perfstack features have been used heavily since added to the platform. The community is very knowledgeable and more helpful than support (sadly). The forum has great participation and a great rewards system to keep users engaged. There are lots of ideas shared on the site and many monitors have been uploaded and available for use to any user.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product requires tedious administration and is very time consuming.
Alert storms are common and fine tuning thresholds is highly manual and tedious.
The UI is cluttered, slow, and outdated. Customizing the UI is painful and has a learning curve.
The learning curve is very high and frustrating for advanced monitoring setup.
The application is often slow and unstable. It can be challenging to troubleshoot too and support is awful after they got bought out by the private firm.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Service availability is a major monitor we utilize. Providing reactionary alerts to certain thresholds to alert the proper team in our event management software. Tracing application performance problems back to the infrastructure or vindicating infrastructure as a problem and reducing mean time to repair (MTTR).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If man hours are not a concern, it is a decent product. One man shows should look for a product with more automation and intelligence built in. UI is not very clean. Setting up basic monitoring for servers takes about 15 minutes each if done individually. Bulk discovery tool is very clunky and unreliable.
High potential monitoring software
What do you like best about the product?
Bargain priced data monitoring tool which provides many ways to analyze this information. The notifications make it really convenient because it will allow you to know before something happens. Data analysts in our group work together using this software, easily learning and maintaining of it with simplicity.
What do you dislike about the product?
The different pricing options can be rather difficult to choose from, even though the models are straight forward. It just can be different to choose which one would work best for you. Also the web interface is very simple and easy which is good but may need some improvement in terms of customization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Real time cloud monitoring of data and metrics at all levels of the business. There are many competitors in this space, we just found Librato to be the best match for us. It is fairly price once reviewing the options and really does get you everything you need from it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would suggest just giving it a try, it really has a lot of potential for you at a price point that's more than far comparing to other competitors. Could definitely see this software working at every level whether you are a small business or large, could see being the same amount of help at either.
Pingdom monitoring service
What do you like best about the product?
Cloud based service, easy to setup multiple domains and multiple alert levels.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although it seems nearly unavoidable, we will frequently use up all of our SMS alerts anytime a server goes down for scheduled updates late at night. Typically we'll get an SMS alert for each domain stating that it is down, and then within 5 minutes we'll get an SMS alert stating that it is back online.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Website uptime monitoring.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Competitively priced monitoring service that provides some peace of mind that you will be first to know if a website is down.
Solid Monitoring Solution
What do you like best about the product?
This is a reliable tool for monitoring a lot of different things in your IT environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Creating and especially modifying your setup is a little awkward and time consuming. I would really prefer a simpler navigation to only the section I want to modify and then to be able to save it without navigating through other workflow screens until the Save button is finally displayed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have some highly fluid application disk usage and this allows us to stay on top of it and address constraints quickly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a reliable product, but weigh its setup & pricing carefully.
Review of Librato
What do you like best about the product?
I like that you do not need to install anything when using this program. As a not very technically savvy person, I get really nervous when I need to download new applications to my computer that I haven't heard of, so it's not to not feel as threatened by not needing to download anything to use it. Librato can also do the same things as its competitors, but has a very reasonable price in comparison. The interface is very simple so it makes it very user friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think that lots of little improvements could be made to this application, and knowing how to make things more advanced would be helpful. If you are going for cheap, this is your application, but there are some others that are more advanced than this. It can be hard sometimes to set up and figure out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use this for data configuration and analysis in a group setting. I would in a research laboratory so we use this application to consolidate and review the data for the entire lab. It was an easier transition in learning since some of the lab members had been using the application for some time before the rest of us starting using it. I would suggesting finding someone to help you learn it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would take the time to look at some of the competitors as well and determine if it will satisfy your needs.
Great Tool for overview look at network
What do you like best about the product?
I like being able to view so many areas of our network from one application
What do you dislike about the product?
How difficult it is to setup accurate reporting in the report builder
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to be alerted of network performance issues such as servers that are down, high cpu performance, network issues etc
