Don't build your own search until you've outgrown Algolia

What do you like best about the product?
Up and running with advanced search capabilities in minutes. Hook up your data model, plug in the JavaScript widget and your users get a great search experience. It is very fast from anywhere in the world and the flexible customisation features allow for advanced and nearly bespoke search solutions. You should try Algolia before you try to build your own search.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much. Some of the terminology used when you get into customising the experience can take awhile to make sense.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowing our users to search and find meaning in large datasets.

Try it before you build your own search.

We get amazing search capabilities that wows folks

What do you like best about the product?
We love that it's crazy fast- it's a party trick when we show folks. The results are instantaneous and make our entire site feel faster.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing is hard to measure as we grow. While I get sent a lot of information weekly, I can't make sense of how that relates to our traffic. I also find it hard to understand how it works with our caching on our managed hosting. When we have an issue on the site, it's hard to understand where the issue is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a complex site with many different lines of business. We're able to go across all of the lines as well as specific offerings. We've been able to make some sense of our specific lines of business, but we still have not had any success with folks typing in natural language queries into the system.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Far easier than trying to roll your own search offering, pricing is tough to understand and plan against (for me, as an executive not a dev)..

I like best how fast Algolia is for all operations (search and indexing)

I don't dislike a lot of things. Their React connectors could be a bit better.

I give access to a huge database of soccer players

Algolia for micro entrepreneurs

What do you like best about the product?
When trying to learn about Algolia as a new customer, it is very easy to navigate their website and see clearly what their pricing and structure plans are. The implementation of it on my company website, DollarProbs.com was easy and we did not experience any major issues or bugs.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be better to see how Algolia can expand on its current sets of search API data, and be able to give more in-depth reports in its weekly usage report emails it sends out. Making it a bit easier to switch plans would be more helpful, but overall it is quite simple to find needed information.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Algolia search API to help determine what users on my website are searching for, and to see what the trending words are that they are searching for so we can make them stronger keywords in our site. The Algolia features and services are plenty for my small business to handle for now.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need a detailed and precise search API, Algolia is a great tool that can help improve the search abilities of your website. Algolia was recommended to me first by a friend, and then after hearing it recommended again by my web team, I knew it was a worthwhile product, and has lived up to my current small business needs. It is easy to find research needed to learn more about what the product is and its potential helpful features to improve your own business needs.

What do you like best about the product?
If you work with elasticsearch, the migration is very fast. The configuration of the tool is very simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
At first there is uncertainty with the price, but with few calculations you can know what the tool will cost....

The ecommerce search engine and all the product listings.

Brilliant developer documentation and API.

What do you like best about the product?
Algolia is very well thought out product and it's staggering how many options they provide to customise and filter search results. Developer documentation is clear and concise and it only takes a few minutes to get up and running. Additionally tooltips are depicted next to almost all configurable options making it even easier to find the relevant documentation. Indexed results are returned almost instantly. I'm also a big fan of the browse feature, which allows you to test any configuration changes to an index without having to setup an environment.

The Algolia team are also friendly and genuinely want to help you make the most of your experience and achieve your goals.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of features we required were aimed at more of an enterprise level business, which was beyond the scope our implementation. However after chatting with their Team we were able to find a suitable workaround and achieve our goals.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Algolia we are using search as the primary navigation on our agency's landing page replacing the existing navigation with the aim to get users to engage more with the company and quickly find what they are looking for.

Algolia keeps users and fellow employees safe from malware during internet searching

What do you like best about the product?
Algolia can be used by employees or administrators of any skill level through its "beneath-the-surface" action as an effective means of web searching and connecting with those on the Internet. Implementation onto both computers and mobile phones is easy and relatively unnoticeable/not bothersome. An easy recommendation to any other potential users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some dislikes shown by both myself and employees is the impact of Algolia on search speeds and overall RAM usage, which sometimes may impact users from full optimization of their device. Some prefer to use other outlets that do not have this issue, though, minor, and consider it a definite negative about the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Algolia has heightened user experience while increasing quality of effective advertising for our company through the Algolia platform. The multi-faceted tools utilized by Algolia make it an effective means to increase productivity and offer an alternative to other "name-brand" competitors.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend Algolia fix their current issue with decreased performance due to usage of Algolia in tandem with other programs on a single device. Offer means for users to still make use of external applications while using Algolia.

What do you like best about the product?
Algolia is a great service and toolset for crafting corp dev utilities and systems. With it we have been able to execute quickly on several developer efficiency efforts. The fast injection of data, configuration of indexes and amazing api coverage allow for some very powerful solutions to search.
What do you dislike about the product?
The new dashboard feels like a beta product - I preferred the older UX for the dashboards.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Internal corp dev tools targeting engineering departments.

What do you like best about the product?
The developer documentation and the API are great: quickly to integrate and powerful. The search options in the dashboard are also easy to configure and adjust.The various integrations with frameworks are also great. We use Algolia in JavaScript (Node and Browser), in Swift for our mobile app and also with Jekyll for our static help website.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe the statistics, it would be helpful to have the info by country and keep them longer by default (at least some information like the 0-result searches). Right now we need to push them to another engine to keep them. Alternatively, an API to get the aggregated statistics would be helpful (especially to regularly get the 0-result searches and be able to push them to our team to improve the indexed data).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We switched our public search engine to Algolia to search sheet music on our website. It allows to quickly enhance the possibilities and offer more to our users, while reduce the development time for the update.
We also added algolia to our help center made with Jekyll, that's a great combo for a static site (no maintenance time yet powerful).
We aim to improve our integrations to push a better experience for our users in the future, and I believe we have chosen the good solution for our different products!
