What do you dislike about the product?
It gets very pricey at scale (when you either have lots of traffic (more unlikely) or need to index a lot of data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am getting a highly tailored and fast search that matches much better than other options I have tried.
Search UI also helps me by me not needing to write much JS to implement Algolia.

Algolia: instant search with few work and best results
What do you like best about the product?
Dashboard is very easy to use in all its functionalities. There is a complete set of function to manage every aspect without writing a single line of code.
You need to do things programmatically? Algolia offers easy to use libraries written in many languages (javascript, php, java, etc...) to have full control of every aspect of index/crawler configuration / interrogation.
Also everything is well documented in their docs.
You need any help? Support team replies fast and with accuracy.
How service works? They accomplish their promises: index queries resolves very fast in every scenario, even with thousands of objects in a single index. Your customer will have a very instant search experience.

What do you dislike about the product?
Crawler part is a little bit a black box, even if configuration is well explained. You cannot make ajax calls in it's execution (even if, to be honest, it is not recommended at all).
There is no xls/csv export of crawler logs and so they are not so easy to analyze through the dashboard.
Query suggestion part maybe is lacking of some custom configurations and docs are not so clear as other functionalities.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Read theirs docs.
Avoid crawler part if not needed. Use their API in server-side to update your indexes.
Having 1 index per country/language will easy query suggestion part.

Wonderful solution to provide search in our products easy and fast
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the simplitity of algolia. It is easy to use and implement in various scenarios.
What do you dislike about the product?
Now, after using Algolia for some time, there isn't much that I don't like. But one thing was a bit confusing at first for me: The Unit system. It was first hard to understand for me, that these units are used for both search querys and index records. Maybe a bit clearer description would be helpful there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest benefit I have over other solutions (for example ElasticSearch) is, that there are official, first-party search UI frameworks. Others have something simmilar as well, but by far not so feature rich. Especially React InstantSearch was a big time saver implementing search in our project.
Easy to set up, generous free tier
What do you like best about the product?
Overal it's a very modern feeling service. Great documentation including good examples. I was up and running in about an hour, including integrating it with a static site build process and a basic front end.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far there's nothing to dislike. I'm not sure how well the pricing scales for production but for my limited traffic site it's perfect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed a search service that I could use with a static jamstack site with no access to a database. Algol is filled that need perfectly, and at no cost for my small use case.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get a test up and running with the provided code examples before trying to customize anything.

What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of WordPress Plugin Support.
Had to take an existing fork of their WordPress plugin and further customise it... but was worth it.

A performant full text search with highly tunable parameters
What do you like best about the product?
I like the speed of the queries and along with the web UI provided for configuring indexes. There are lots of parameters to make the searches work as you expected, even with misspelled inputs. I like the idea of creating replicas of your data with different parameters for different search use cases. It then becomes very clear which index you wish to use later on and so you receive predictable outcomes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the react plugin for instant search, at least the version I am on right now, because it is very difficult to clear the cache for the results. In my use case, the fields on the data change regularly. The results will return the old values until the entire component is unloaded and then reloaded.
I also wish the logs were easier to filter and review in the web browser. Currently, I have the best results when I pull down all the logs locally and filter the text with another program. It would be nice to see more results on the browser, or be able to filter them by the contents of the operation.

Full-text fuzzy search is why we depend on Algolia. Being able to combine multiple data sets in one index is great for discoverability. Firestore lacks many querying features and so pairing it with Algolia covers our needs, though it does complicate things a bit and increase our bill.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Algolia is an excellent solution for full-text fuzzy search with support for handling typos. It also has many features you might not know you could benefit from.
Fast and reliable search without reinventing the wheel
What do you like best about the product?
Algolia offers detailed documentation on every topic of its API and modules for all popular JS frameworks, making it clear to implement and fun to work with.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve can be a little steep in the beginning, especially when you have a non-default use-case.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Implementing fast and reliable search in any webapplication.
It is great for anything ranging from e-commerce search or niche usecases like hashtag autocompletion.

Seamless integration, with a lot of flexibility.
What do you like best about the product?
Algolia is the most seamless integration with its multiple SDKs. It is also easy to keep indexes synchronised. Algolia has a unique way of searching through attributes, also adaptable and able to provide you with business intelligence from your data such as if an item on your website is on offer. This will give you a competitive edge in the market by providing users with excellent experience, that's exactly what Algolia has helped us achieve. I'd recommend Algolia if you want to hit the ground running.
What do you dislike about the product?
Algolia is a slightly expensive tool but provides better services than its competitors. Also doesn't seem to work well with unstructured data, also when your systems are on-premise you would leverage Algolia features, unfortunately.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am building a job placement technology, search is critical here to find the right person for the job. Keywords are so important during recruitment for both the job seeker and the recruiter that's why we use Algolia's fast blazing APIs to deliver excellent experiences.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to build a reliable, fast search for your application, choose Algolia. You can integrate with all platforms and deliver the best service to your users.
Very good experience with customisability overall, but slightly lacking on integrations
What do you like best about the product?
I like how customisable and well-documented the algorithm is - I like being able to rearrange the steps, as well as the automagical adaptation to new data types. I can add a completely new key to my object, and Algolia automatically updates to handle it.
Also, I am very happy about the ease of creating new collections/workspaces, and configuring them through the easy guided tutorial.
I would have also said that my favourite feature, by far, was Algolia places :(. The fact that it was available for free/a very low cost was amazing.
The React toolkit is also incredibly helpful - I can set up a UI with searching, filtering, and sorting very quickly.
This also goes without saying, but the search algorithm is amazing.

What do you dislike about the product?
I am, of course, sad about the demise of Places. It really was the only tool available for searching this kind of data for free, and I've used it in a lot of sights where it was really a no-brainer to implement and there weren't really any viable alternatives.
Also, I would appreciate more integrations with rapid development tools - it has occurred many times that when developing a super-quick MVP, Algolia was the longest to set up. For instance, automatic Firebase/Firestore sync would be greatly appreciated, since right now, I need to use Firebase Functions in order to manually sync the two. Not only does this slow down development time, it also makes the sync execute slower, since Firebase Functions need to boot up first.
Also, I have experiences slight issues when it comes to implementing the manual React UI - although I said that it's quite easy to use, this isn't the case when attempting to customise it. It can get quite complicated and hacky to use, particularly with Typescript (as TS definitions are dodgy/incomplete in cases).

On our website CodeDragon, we use Algolia to search users and projects - it has been incredibly helpful in allowing us to broaden our search feature from just usernames and project titles to user bios and descriptions and content. It has allowed us to convey more info to the user quickly, and the InstantSearch feature means that we don't need to manually make requests.
We've also used Algolia Places in a lot of situations to allow address search, in order to simplify (as well as validate) addresses in circumstances where this was necessary to be correct.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Algolia is amazing to work with, and their customer support is always available super quickly to help you with any concerns. Make sure to make use of the algorithm customisation features and fine-tune indices to your liking in order to bring out the most from Algolia - it could make the difference between a 'good' and 'great' implementation.
Best search library for business and personal websites
What do you like best about the product?
I was searching for a fast module that could easily integrate with my personal React-GatsbyJs website, that could integrate with Contentful and update searchable material via webhooks; Gatsby docs make the overall process easy for me and for my development team, in addiction Algolia platform is easy to use and it's the best described module to integrate.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't find many dislikes about Algolia, because the Free tier is made for someone like me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Algolia and React Instant Search, a pre-made component, I can provide the best experience for users of my webapplication.
