Cast Imaging is a good tool for analysing a portfolio of applications

  • August 08, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1) The data gathering process is separate from the analysis to meet the security requirements of different customers I would engage with.
2) The Cloud readiness analysis of an application portfolio is particularly helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really to dislike.
My focus was Mainframe application analysis, so would have been good to have some examples with that Technology.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can analyse a customers portfolio of apps in a consistent and scientific manner. This allows me to develop application strategies which could be deployed across a number of customers.

Amazing application to prepare documentation.

  • May 22, 2024

What do you like best about the product?
We can make the project blue print quickly with CAST application such as various graphs for show relationship between objects, tables, classes.
What do you dislike about the product?
After making documentation such as views we cannot export in better options. We can download SVG but there is also a limit of zooming. So if there is anyway we can download Views(with readable texts) then we can show our clients documentation more easy and simple way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helped to make out project documentation fast, Helps us as developer to understand the impact of code changes, dependecies and hierarchy.

Packed with information on apps and supports OpenAI integrations, learning curve is worth it.

What do you like best about the product?
As a Java enthusiast, probably the Microservice or Service view where you can see how a modular application works and which parts it has. As the main undertaker of modernization/migrations efforts for third parties, the App with App dependency overview is also very useful to check and lets you review the network architecture and helps preserving it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not always easy to get the higher ups to approve the installation of foreign package such as those needed to scan the applications internally, also the learning curve for thi software suite is high.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Extended debugging and teaching us how older applications which have actual convoluted code work. Not every application had been developed with best practices by 2004, and design standards weren't established, which makes this software really useful when analyzing legacy code. We can liberate our older staff which isn't always available and reduce the cognitive load of the app reviewers.
