Really a nice tool to create dashboards and monitor critical metrics

  • December 14, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Can create dashboards easily
Variety of alerting options
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit slow sometimes. Also some of the keys are not that easy to understand if you not a pro math guy
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring and alerting of enterprise network

vRealize Operations, one of the monitoring tool used in hybrid cloud infrastructure.

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing is the alerting system in VROPS. In our environment we have created many alert symptoms based on some conditions like CPU, Memory utilization and it will automatically send alerts and notifications to all the recipients added and also send notification to the Service now (Ticketing tool) that creates an incident based on the conditions defined.
Also you can create Dashboards to monitor any machine, cluster, host resources etc.
All these information generated can be exported directly in .csv format.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing that I dislike is that till date we are not able to edit the subject of the alerts that we receive in emails.
VMware is still looking to find a resolution for it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There are many benefits of using VROPS.
1) Can monitor each and every resource (host, VM's, Datastores etc) and will automatically send alerts if there is overconsumption of resources.
2) Can easily generate reports for any resource, cluster etc. depending on the environment needs.
3) Dashboards provide the graphical representation using various inbuild widgets like heatmap, object list and easily can show the interaction between the various widgets.
4) In our environment VROPS is integrated with the service now tool with sends the incident if the particular conditions are met.
5) Monitoring of other tools like NSX, vCenter, VRA ..etc
Recommendations to others considering the product:
vROPS is a must tool for both public and private cloud as it can be easily integrated with other tools and will send alerts if there is any issue in any tool.
So, it saves a lot of time in troubleshooting part as you just have to look at the alert and directly can jump on the tool/service with issue.

Usefull for task Automation

  • November 27, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It integrates directly with the vSphere products Suite, but also possible to integrate with third party by the use of plugins.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface to create the workfows could be better.
Not very intuitive to debug.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All of the manual tasks are being divided and converted to a logical set of steps then make up the workflow, allowing for complex tasks to be divided into smaller executions and with the capacity of taking different routes depending of the output of the previous step.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are using the VMware vsphere products, then this orchestrator engine provides integration out of the box with some sample workflows ready to run.
For other products from third party make sure that they provide a plugin for vOrchestrator, there are a lot of vendor that provide such solution.

VMware Cloud Foundation an awesome hybrid cloud platform

  • November 26, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is an integrated software stack that uses SDDC Manager an automated lifecycle management tool to bundle compute vSphere and storage VMware vSAN and network virtualization NSX into a single platform that can be deployed on premises as a private cloud or run as a service within a public cloud.
What do you dislike about the product?
The models, flexibility, and management of VMware are limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
VMware Cloud Foundation a full-stack Hyperconverged Infrastructure solution, which reduced complexity, risk, and cost while also improving performance. VMware Cloud Foundation is less expensive than other solutions and at the same time, it removed a lot of the administrative burden on us by being able to update and maintain a lot of these things that we would otherwise have to do.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For enterprise companies and huge data centers, you need a new cloud for each system. It's not acceptable so we try to work with everything centralized on-premises. Telecommunication companies must have a cloud solution and on-premises. For everyday work, they will want to implement virtual machines. To maintain all those systems they need to have centralized management. A huge company must have these products. But it will be very costly for a small company or medium enterprise company. The complexity depends on the size of the company. You need to enhance the workflows.

  • November 20, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Centralization of all monitoring activities across public and private cloud infrastructure is a truly valuable for IT infrastructure administrators
What do you dislike about the product?
there in no particular thing i didn't like about the product however if it was possible to customize the monitoring dashboards in an easier way will be truly useful
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
monitoring across public and private cloud is made really easy specially in days where hybrid cloud presents a great value for large organizations.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
if you are looking for a central monitoring tool for keeping up with what's going on on your hybrid cloud VMware on premises and maybe AWS as a cloud provider this tool is truly useful

A swiss knife of the workflow designers

  • November 18, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Wide range API integration possibilities are available, even the out-of-box ones are pretty good. Because of the huge community there are a lots of problems and solutions article which could help.
The learning curve is nice, if you have previous devops / scripting experience you can learn it fast.
There are also sample workflows / actions
What do you dislike about the product?
The JavaScript engine until the v7.x is pretty old, uses the old ES5 (rhino)
However in the vRA8 via ABX there are node, PowerShell and python script language options, so you can even mix them in a workflow. The WEB UI (instead of the old fashion java based thick client), is pretty nice, has almost the same functionality, however it is a modern flat based UI, and you no not need to download client.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Complete e2e cloud integration projects, such as DB, APP, Backup, SDN, LoadBalancer, firewall integrations for self service portal vRealize Automation - so you can build an on prem cloud.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
wide range integration options, JavaScript language, well-known vendor, huge community

vRealize Orchestrator - a well kept secret

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
vRealize Orchestrator is an often overlooked part of the VMware portfolio that can be used as an enterprise workflow and orchestration tool that is capable of automating operations both within vSphere and the wider enterprise.
What do you dislike about the product?
Previous versions included only support for an archiac version of JavaScript, which has since been resolved with a move towards Python. Likewise, there is more support for continuous integration / deployment pipelines.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Linked with vRealize Automation, vRealize Orchestrator provides the ability to customise the deployment of virtual machines, allowing the integration to other corporate and third party services, such as CMDB, Monitoring, Backup, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There is a strong user community behind vRealize Orchestrator that is worth exploring via VMWare User Groups, Twitter, etc.

Automation saves a lot of time and efforts

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Most helpful thing is that you don’t have to deploy or Install OS into the virtual machines separately.
What do you dislike about the product?
As everything is automated, custom changes cannot be made to the virtual machines.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I created a lab environment and joined it with the vcentre server using orchestrator. Had good fun learning it.
