A user-friendly tool that can be used to protect the frontend and backend proxy APIs

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution mainly to protect the frontend and backend proxy APIs. We also use the solution for federating with the identity server. We publish our backend API into WSO2 API Manager and use the proxy API outside. We use the solution for authorization, authentication, and accounting purposes.

What is most valuable?

WSO2 API Manager is quite easy. With WSO2 API Manager, we can use different DBs. It is easy to accommodate the solution along with any kind of identity server. WSO2 API Manager has a user-friendly model.

What needs improvement?

WSO2 API Manager should improve its marketplace subscription model and documentation in order to reach a higher level in the market.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using WSO2 API Manager for the last two to four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate WSO2 API Manager an eight out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate WSO2 API Manager an eight out of ten for scalability.

The solution's support model is not very clear enough right now.

I previously used the Akamai tool.

The solution's initial setup is very easy. I rate WSO2 API Manager an eight out of ten for the ease of its initial setup.

What about the implementation team?

The solution's deployment takes two to three hours. One person is sufficient to deploy WSO2 API Manager.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

WSO2 API Manager is a costly solution, and its pricing is not competitive enough compared to other products.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend WSO2 API Manager to other users.

What do you like best about the product?
Creading product APIs and monitization option with very flexible way of creating subscription packages.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a dislike persay, but if there is a straight forward API requirement; tasks are redendent starting from microIntegrator.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
segrigation of APIs and subscription package.

What do you like best about the product?
Seperate publisher, devportal, admin and carbon portal. Easy to create api and deploy as well as manage life cycle and other security protocols. Competitors doesnt have a better ui structure as well as the support and customization is not available as wso2
What do you dislike about the product?
For changing the log patterns there should be the option at the portal only instead of changing the log4j properties. More scenarios or sample can be added in tutorial with complex transformations and soap api explanation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security protocols , Authentication using apikey and oauth. Easy to make changes in the api and deploy the apis without and downtime. Endpoint management with loadbalancing

We are using the solution for authentication purposes.

The tool is easy to manage.

The product is easy to use. It is pretty simple to configure the solution. It's pretty easy to set it up and use it.

What needs improvement?

The technical support must be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for two to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the tool’s stability an eight out of ten. We didn’t face any issues with the solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the tool’s scalability a nine out of ten. Around 50 to 100 people are using the solution in our organization.

How are customer service and support?

The on-site document is okay.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, we used IBM. We switched to WSO2 because it is easy to get and costs less than IBM.

How was the initial setup?

The tool is pretty easy to install. We need 30 minutes to install it.

What about the implementation team?

We need two systems engineers to maintain the tool.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend the solution to others. Overall, I rate the product a nine out of ten.

What do you like best about the product?
WSO2 API Manager is very important technology to understand as a proffessional because it makes daily life easy and very easy to understad and maintanence.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing particular point to dislike it but when we raise ticket to WSO2 we recieve response limited from them.

What do you like best about the product?
WSO2 API Manager comes with a wide range of features which helps in API creation, its publishing and documention at the same time. It provides the developer a platform where they and perform and suggest changes in API. The platform is completely customisable where we can perform and use the tool with our own customisation over it. And the best part is it can handle a large number of API processing simaltenously.
What do you dislike about the product?
The deployement process is very hectic, specially who is completely new with this tool. It takes time and effort to get started with tool and start working on it. For support we need to rely upon the its community but also the community is very active and gets assistance within hours.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In the end I would say that WSO2 API Manager is feature-rich platform that helps us in managing APIs for our business with loads of customizations lots of comprehnsive feature such as security and API management. Its just a great help of organisations like us, we are very thankful to this tool.

What do you like best about the product?
WSO2 API Manager is a great open-source platform; setup was quick and easy. The API publisher portal and admin console have a reach web UI and easy navigation. We have great control over the API, including the subscriptions of an API, and how clients can access an API.
What do you dislike about the product?
The documentation lacks details and needs more example scenarios.
Migration from older to new versions is not seamless; it requires significant effort.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solving security to API. Support to implement fine access control on API via scopes.
API Management is made easy with this platform.

Easy to manage APIs life's cycle. Secure and stable, we can use with users and secure them about their data.

UI is a little confusing for the first time I logged on, is hard to understand.

WSO2 solved all problems with API governance and management.

Insufficient support for free license and lack of advanced documentation.

Resolves the issue of fragmentation and repetition of APIs on systems. Brings the benefit of concentrating common APIs to the entire development area.
