It is simple to use. I haven't explored it to its full potential.
What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity of updates. How you can link all functionality.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't used it to its full potential so I don't know that I can say.
It's harder for those who don't have licenses to access. Though we do publish our sheets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We utilise it for timing plans primarily. And centralising those plans.
Simple to use and offers great features.
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is very easy to use. You can create new sheets within minutes, complete with drop-down lists, conditional formatting, and many other features. It is also convenient to create forms quickly and share links with others. You can set up your own workspace, share it with the right people, and easily manage permissions. The alert functionality is very useful, and exporting data is also simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
The number of lines in a document is limited. Since we use some pages for archiving data, we often reach the maximum number of lines allowed and must create a new sheet to store additional information. The product also becomes quite costly when it needs to be used by a large number of people.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps many people across the organization collaborate easily. It is simple to set permissions and share projects with different teams. The platform is very user-friendly, allowing multiple teams to work on the same page simultaneously and update it as needed.
Useful platform for project management
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use platform that I mainly use for project management
What do you dislike about the product?
No major downsides that I can see so far
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Delivery and tracking of projects. Allows simple overview of projects.
A straightforward project management solution that helps to reduce time to market
What is our primary use case?
Our internal Ops teams do engineering and deployment projects in Smartsheet.
How has it helped my organization?
The solution is straightforward. Whenever a requirement arises, we create three things in Smartsheet: a project plan, a dashboard, and internal documents. It is done through the form and Smartsheet's automation services. This process shortens the time to market from seven days to less than 12 hours.
What is most valuable?
The product simplifies project management. We have worked with other project management tools and found that Smartsheet simplifies the overall interaction in an organization. You can do everything from the software.
What needs improvement?
Smartsheet needs to improve the user interface.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the product since 2014.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I have never heard any PMs complain about Smartsheet and would rate stability a ten out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I rate the solution's scalability a ten out of ten. It doesn't have any limitations on scalability.
How are customer service and support?
My company provides technical support to customers.
How was the initial setup?
Configuring user identity is complex in the tool.
What other advice do I have?
The tool is a SaaS-based product. I rate it a seven out of ten.
With limited time, I've made it work well
What do you like best about the product?
I haven't found a ton of time to explore the many training resources and features of SmartSheets, but without much effort on my part, I've made it work quite well to use for basic project management with my small communications department. I use some conditional formatting that's helpful to quickly identify priority projects. I use some basic automations, which were super easy to implement, that notify members when they are assigned a project and when a deadline is approaching, and it works quite well for this.
There are MANY many training resources and I will one day spend a bunch of time with them. There are also a number of features that I don't yet make use of, and it seems like the platform is incredibly versatile and adaptable.
What do you dislike about the product?
I suspect most of my dislikes are related to my not having the time to dig into the many training resources, but here are my main points of frustration:
1. I wish there was an auto-sort feature. When I add a project or make changes to deadlines in my project management spreadsheet, I'd like to have it automatically rearrange itself rather than me having to turn off the filter (which I use to filter out completed or abandoned projects), then select the three sort criteria I use (deadline date, priority then type of deadline), then turn my filter back on - every single time. It feels like there must be an easier way to do it, but if there is, I haven't found it.
2. I'd like tasks within an overall project to work a little more intuitively. You can nest tasks within the overall project, but when you sort by due date, the sorting always takes the value of the overall project rather than the next upcoming date.
3. It sometimes takes a bit for the page to update when my colleague submits a file to me for review. I'll get the notifications then go to the page and have to refresh a few times before the update is visible.
4. I'd also love it if, when I get a notification, I click on that notification and it goes directly to the line the notification is about. It does give you the line number, which is helpful, but a click to get there feature would be really handy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have a million projects I am juggling, including many that require collaboration with colleagues. SmartSheets gives me a helpful way to track all of these projects and collaborations.
Solid platform
What do you like best about the product?
I am using Smartsheet to gather Sales Pipeline data from the salespeople, so for me the most helpful part of Smartsheet is being able to get consistent set of data from different levels of people in our organization with very user friendly forms that are easy to create. Gives our organization a professional data driven attitude overall when communicating with sales reps on the field.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not user friendly to transform the collected data(for ex: pipeline data from the field) onto metrics sheet and into Dashboards. The fact that we have to create metric sheet to be able to get dashboards out of the data is tedious. Creating/updating tables using Excel like formulas (that are different from Excel) to populate dashboards is not fun. I would rather use PowerBI to get the data and ignore Smartsheets own dashboarding process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to get consistent set of data from the field(our third part sales reps) that helps us fill up our sales pipeline with live continous updates. Our business performance increased significantly since adapting to the forms that we use to collect the data because our conversations are being handled in a more input/data driven way.
Fairly intuitive platform if you're good at excel
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet makes collaborating with others - including getting their input - very easy, even if they don't have a Smartsheet license.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes i end up with 10+ sheets to accomplish something that could be done more simply in excel.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Enabling others to see progress and enabling collaborators to provide input, which helps us stay on track with fewer meetings as updates are providing asynchronously.
Easy and collaborative Program Management
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet allows me to manage internal and external resources with project planning, reporting and dashboards for viewability. The ease of moving between plan views for collaborative and comprehensive planning with multiple audiences is extraordinary; and sharing plans, documents and providing alerts makes things super easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI can be cumbersome and setting up dashboards to provide specific views of reports is administratively heavy. I initially thought that ease of use with links and shared tasks/resources would be more seamless, but I find that maintaining and tracking in 2 locations is still a frequent occurence. Could be a training issue as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration and sharing of plans and governance docs is critical for our team. View licenses are critical to providing consistent look and feel, and makes things super easy when assigning tasks and actions to internal AND external resources.
Great activity tracker
What do you like best about the product?
Is great that you have a conversation tool embeded on the same row that you are working on, always easy to clarify any issue ore misunderstanding by another member of your team, without the need to rely in other ways of communication, everything on the same spot
What do you dislike about the product?
at this point I couldnt say there is someting to dislike about the tool, so far every encounter that I hav e had with it it has been usufull, there is always a new function to discover
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Have everything on the same space, easy to track evidence, provide direction and send reminders to my team members when some action requieres atention with in the same row is awesome, love it
Powefull tool
What do you like best about the product?
The fact that you can create forms that help you feed information on the spreadsheet is really helpful, makes user friendly a lot of the process that we have to work on.
What do you dislike about the product?
Automation sometimes is hard to undestand, nevertheless once you get it, is really cool all the things that you can trigger, and how you can combine a los of information.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Help track changes done, thru feeding information in forms created, triggering automations to get information to feed to other plataforms, short description...time saver.
