Great presentation on road map products

  • April 16, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about the data security platform if it's ability to provide information on large data sets very quickly with insightful categories and relevant information to understand the environment security posture.
What do you dislike about the product?
The on-prem data security platform is very slow especially in data advantage to pull up the data and load the mgmt console. Many times it seems there are random errors that occur on firewalk jobs and the ability to detect resources in 365 to be added for scanning.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solve the problem of identifying classified information on SharePoint and on premises systems. Reducing risk exposure by 10% overall.

Offers the ability to identify sensitive areas, allowing you to drill down into the sensitive data

  • March 05, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

It includes activity monitoring, sensitive data threat detection, and discovery, all of which fall under the 10101 Umbrella. Additionally, because of unstructured data, there's overexposed access.

We use the tools that come with it, such as data classification and real-time active alerting.

How has it helped my organization?

We're in the process of maturing the incident response for our team. We're transitioning from on-prem to the cloud and are now evaluating it for the cloud as well as Defender for Cloud and all of its components. So, we're doing a comparison of that.

What is most valuable?

The most effective feature for me is its ability to identify sensitive areas, allowing you to drill down into the sensitive data, provided you have access, to determine whether it's a false positive or a true positive.

That's the best thing for me, out of all of it. It's got everything, like other ones, but I like to be able to look at something if I'm doing forensics on the alert and say, "Okay, do I really need to do something with this?"

For example, we don't want sensitive data in our OneDrive. So it identifies the sensitive data that's possibly in the OneDrive. And what I can do is look at it and identify whether it's actually sensitive data in Datalert or whether it looks like sensitive data, but I know it's a false positive.

If it is a false positive, I can basically say ignore this pattern based on X, Y, and Z, you know, whether it's Redjax or keyword proximity. So I like that.

With other tools, I gotta go through a whole process because it's a little bit more complex.

Here, I can tag it and bag it in one shot. And the next good time I scan, it slips over it. So it helps in that.

What needs improvement?

For me, it's more about performance, but that's being resolved with certain issues. And it's just because of the volume of data that we're putting through it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability a nine out of ten.

I had concerns with performance. Especially with the new product plugins for monitoring, considering how Windows always has quirks in the Office 365 environment.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The SaaS version is highly scalable.

The company has over 10,000 people, and currently, four or five are using it. We're looking into self-service for reporting and governance and normalizing the data into a data lake solution.

How are customer service and support?

I have a direct line, a red phone direct line to them. Nothing but a good experience here.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. I would rate my experience with the initial setup a five out of ten only because I wasn't used to it. I've worked with IBM Guardian and BigFix before.

Since I was really familiar with those two products, as a consultant, I could install them in less than a week as long as I had all the configuration requirements done. Most of its configuration requirements. Other than that, it's straightforward in installations.

What about the implementation team?

There were seven people involved in the deployment. We had someone for global access reviews, another for scale data, one for maintaining the environment, architects for the installations, and an operations guide for updates.

We have only one person for maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It was a negotiation based on my past experiences with monitoring this type of software.

I don't know the exact amount. It's pricey, not for a small company. It's Fortune 500 type of software.

I would rate the pricing an eight out of ten, with ten being the most expensive.

What other advice do I have?

For unstructured data monitoring, it's one of the top ones, if not the top one, due to its usability. The telemetry to capture everything and the reports are very easy to configure without having a developer degree.

Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Offers visibility and helps to keep track of access

  • February 01, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use the product for auditing, and keeping track of shares. It ensures proper access control and monitors file creation, access by relevant users, and productivity analytics.

What is most valuable?

The solution has significantly improved data security and compliance posture by allowing us to track and monitor activities. We can see who accesses data and when files are created and understand what's happening in our environment.

We are primarily using the DatAdvantage feature, which is accessed through the web UI and DNS tools. This has been quite helpful for us. While we don't have licenses for other features at the moment. We are getting a POC to evaluate further.

It provides visibility into file access, allowing identification of unauthorized access. The cloud feature helps assess data exposure and recommends changes to secure data, preventing overexposure to the public. We are interested in the key feature that prevents overexposure, making sure that only authorized individuals have access.

Having a centralized platform provides visibility, which proves beneficial given our constraints with a smaller team.

What needs improvement?

The tool's update process is not easy as compared to other tools.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The tool is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Varonis Platform is scalable.

How was the initial setup?

I have experience with the tool's update and it is complex. The process is not easy as compared to other tools.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Varonis Platform an eight out of ten. Currently, we're evaluating our environment and assessing tools to meet new needs. Netskope was brought in for specific reasons, and as we review its capabilities, I find similarities with the Varonis Platform. I'm interested in comparing the two to make an informed decision.

Varonis Data Classification Engine is great at what it does!

  • December 20, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We have a large amount of data around our company and were struggling with what type of data is where, Varonis Data Classification Engine helped us go through the data in great detail and find all different types of data such as PII, Credit Card info, GDPR info as well as personal intellectual property.
What do you dislike about the product?
One issue we have with the system is the complexity of it, it requires a minimum of 2 very high horsepower virtual machines and more to run more effectively. Having more servers would allow the data to be scanned faster but in my environment would require over 30 additional servers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Like I said before the server sprawl is high but overall the more resources you are able to throw at it the better result you will get from it. If you have a single large set of data all located physically close to your scanners it can perform great with less horsepower.

DataPrivilege is a wonderful solutions

  • March 18, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
DataPrivilege is a wonderful solutions, on my past work experience we would not only implement this solution on client premise but also use it internally on our own premise.
What do you dislike about the product?
At the beginning we would need some initial training to be familiar with the solutions and be able to implement it properly. However the training instance connection is quite slow and its a hassle to learn under such situation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Walking through structured and unstructured data automatically, easily classify and identify data within systems. DatAlert in addition to ease alerting of crucial data helps a lot.
