Best interface ever

What do you like best about the product?
I liked the interface. The bar on the right helps a lot during the translation by providing translation memory and quality assurance.
What do you dislike about the product?
During my recent work Smartling crashed several times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tags are easy to place to the soruce tag and context view window situated above the source and target text section.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
A smart interface with high functionalty. It is one of the most fastest web-based translation management system. Sometimes the pace is really important.

Can't imagine any better way to localize large sites into multiple languages

What do you like best about the product?
The content delivery network allows you to maintain a single source site and deliver translated pages to visitors from other languages. This saves us 1000s of hours on content and dev, and lets us centralize localization operations from source content capture to publication. Managing all the localization vendor ops and billing oversight in the platform is a bonus.
What do you dislike about the product?
By its very nature, it pushes you into consistent content across languages. Localization is so simple that when individual markets demand very different content, you end up managing a list of exceptions. This isn't any worse than managing variations in any other system, but it's contrasted against the simplicity of localizing identical content.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Localizing a complex site with multiple backend infrastructures, CMSes, ecommerce, and high availability ticketing engines into multiple languages. The platform allows us to replace enormous dev and content resources with a tiny team focused on platform and vendor management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When evaluating solutions, make sure to meticulously catalog the number of dev and content admin hours that will be required to maintain and develop localized sites for each solution. Platform costs in the industry vary quite a bit, but in projects I was involved in, 90% of the ROI was found in reduced workloads and the time-to-live capability. API or more lightweight solutions seem appealing at first, but if you project development requirements 2 years into the future, the math changes completely.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like the best is that it keeps improving; I've been using it for nearly 2 years and many new options were added. It memories the oldest uploaded terms.
What do you dislike about the product?
Basically nothing, the question that I have is explained bellow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The great thing is it gives me a quality insight how my translation improved and it tracks it as well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it go, it's worth it. It takes shorter to learn.

Best platform for collaboration on translation projects

What do you like best about the product?
I love the way Smartling structures my translation tasks and allows me to efficiently collaborate with my projects assigners.
What do you dislike about the product?
From the "Projects Dashboard", I wish links would actually take to a separate tab once the user clicks on "View Project". That way, the user would be able to progressively complete each project in a separate tab without having to then click to go back to the "Projects Dashboard". No big deal here but just a helpful way for users to complete their projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I review and edit our platforms content that's automatically translated in French (From U.S. English). I like how most of the French translations on Smartling keep the original context (Despite any complexity of the text), thus making my review/edit process less time-consuming.

What do you like best about the product?
The preview mode is the best for reviewing material as it shows how it will show up on the actual visual.
What do you dislike about the product?
The email notifications are not descriptive nor helpful. More details would help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving efficiency problems in our business. Sending coworkers one link to review is a lot easier than sending docs and examples of the visuals.

Smartling makes my life easier everyday

What do you like best about the product?
I love that I have easy access to everything in one place. Being able to manage jobs, perform translations, track string progress, and have visibility into what out LSPs are up to really gives me the freedom to own the localization process at Lyft.

One of my favorite features is the Global Search function. Being able to look for strings across language and across projects is key for our success. Also, being able to edit the translation memory directly and then push those changes out to all projects really makes my life easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can be a bit of an overload of information, which I don't really mind. Smartling has so many features and capabilities, it can be a little tedious sometimes to find exactly what I'm looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We could not have localized Lyft without the use of Smartling. Through their suite of APIs and connectors, we were able to innovate and build a pipeline that works for our translation needs and turnaround times.

We have been able to create a centralized translation hub for our internal clients using Smartling. We heavily leverage the self-service translation request portal in order to drive the efficiency of our operation.

What do you like best about the product?
the CAT is very intuitive and we have great support from the Smartling team

that I cannot permanently exclude strings from translations

We've gained a tremendous amount of time, both on the business and developers sides) by moving from a tedious manual process prone to error to Smartling.

What do you like best about the product?
Efficient tool to manage large volumes of words in different languages and projects. Easy to set up users and workflows. Some great features - but sometimes hard to know about them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very expensive. Not very user-friendly. You need others tools to manage projects with external people. Not good for transcreation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Smartling daily for almost all of our translations. It works fine for most of our tasks, but there are limitations when it comes to certain projects and processes. I wish it would be more user-friendly and intuitive to use and am looking much forward to the release of the new dashboard features. The possibility to connect it with other tools is great, but it is difficult to set up if you work with many different tools and need to spend in-house development resources to set it up.
The Smartling team is great, very supportive and always quick in getting back to us.
