Smartling is rather expensive for the smaller companies and the pricing model is not really transparent.

What do you like best about the product?
Clear UI, easy to use and get around, diverse features
What do you dislike about the product?
Slow TM and context feature does not alway fetch correctly from the image

We work and onboard internal reviewers so it is important they understand and now how to use smartling pretty quick which the tool allows
Modern, user-friendly TMS
What do you like best about the product?
The best part about Smarlting for me is the light-weight and user-friendly UI without sacrificing too much of the typical TMS functionality. The colorful layouts and additional information on the support pages make it easy to learn how to use the CAT tool and its various features.
What do you dislike about the product?
The downside of a modern system like Smartling is its limitation in computational speed/ability, as well as missing some features. Compared to older TMS, Smartling tends to struggle with bulk TM updates (large or small) and miss some Glossary tool features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartling is solving the issue of having many different types of content that need to be translated while using the same TMs and linguistic assets. It is quite flexible so I never have to worry about file formats or cross-referencing material - it can tackle web-pages, documents, subtitles, app integrations, and more.

What do you like best about the product?
It has an easy to use interface and is ideal for handling large-scale, ongoing projects and translation tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some components do not get translated due to a limitation with the Zendesk connector, which means we have to replace certain links manually in multiple languages

Translating new and updated content in up to 6 languages

What do you like best about the product?
I like that the tool is easy to use and transparent. It is easy to find the information we need on the homepage of the system, including timelines, costs, and last submitted jobs, for those who work with translation, this kind of information is the most important and I am very pleased to have it any time I need.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not something I dislike actually, but something that maybe can be improved. It would be good to have a way to group all translation jobs for one same page, for example, group all the pages for a same batch in a way we can see the overall progress without needing to open page by page, what is time consuming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartling to manage and request translations for webpages and assets like PDFs, Power Point Presentations, excel files, word documents, and even srt files for video subtitles.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like the most about Smartling is that I find it very intuitive and user-friendly. All the info I need is there: concordance search, glossary, style guide when applicable, segment history, etc. and most of all the context panel that allows me to see context as well as how the translation will look like in real time (which is great as French espands quite a bit and I can see if I need to "chop" the translation for layout reasons).
The export option is also very convenient to save my work and run various checks and the @mention when you log an issue is a big bonus.
And last the Content search function (may only be active if you have Project Manager privileges) with its wealth of options (from the basic Project, Job, Status, Language, etc. to Key/Variant, Tags, etc.) allowing you to refine searches and drill down on very specific strings.
This is by far my favorite CAT tool and I work with quite a few different ones!
The export option is also very convenient to save my work and run various checks and the @mention when you log an issue is a big bonus.

What do you dislike about the product?
Usual downsides of most CAT tools: segmentation is not always the ultimate when working on creative texts and QA checks sometimes send back "false positives".
At the moment, MT suggestions still require quite a bit of improvement, but I can't wait to see the use Smartling will make of AI developments!

What do you like best about the product?
Smartling offers an expansive list of languages, and has a very quick turnaround time, usually between 3-5 days. Even for larger translations, I can trust that Smartling will return our translations in an appropriate amount of time.
What do you dislike about the product?
I personally have not had a negative experience using Smartling. There could be some improvements to the user interface, such as sharing job histories amongst oganizations, but that is very nitpicky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartling offers Lyft a multilingual translation staff with reliable translation accuracy, and fast turnaround time. Our content teams would not be able to support the amount of updates we publish without Smartling's translation services.
Easy to use technology and fast translation services
What do you like best about the product?
The process of uploading files for translation is very easy and straightforward. The platform sends notifications when translations move to the next step which helps keep track of progress. The team are also very helpful and quick to respond to questions or issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
In our experience, there were a few instances where the translations needed some minor modification. We were translating our website and on occasions we noticed that the translations could be more natural. The team did respond to feedback well and we did see translation quality improving during the course of the project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a business we operate across multiple markets and therefore need the content we create to be translated quickly and efficiently. Whilst we have team members who can do the translations internally, we can't afford to spend time on this as it diverts resources away from our core businesss. Smartling helps us maximise efficiency by outsourcing the translation work to a 3rd party. We still retain control as we choose the internal review process workflow so our team can check for any errors related to the translation of words for our specific industry or product offering.
Smartling is easy to use and the API plugins work great.
What do you like best about the product?
The API plugins work great. With a press of a button, I'm able to request a translation without extra forms/details to the translation team. I can also check in on the status of the translation without contacting support right from the platform itself.
What do you dislike about the product?
For someone who is a user and not part of the localization team seeing a bunch of strings is confusing/too much information.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It makes translating website content super easy. Sometimes the translation management tool SLAs are off so would love more consistency there.
