Especially useful for short translations
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the Context tab, where you can see where texts will be used. Also, the Issue function is very useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would really help if the Search TM function was not a tab, but a separate side panel, so you can see both the context and the concordance results.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartling is helping me provide translations for clients quickly and efficiently.
Intuitive tool with limited features
What do you like best about the product?
The tool is intuitive, very easy to use if you already have experience with any other cat tool. And you don't have to install anything in your device to use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The features are limited, specially for QA. You cannot customize much and you cannot download a bilingual file to use other QA tools like Xbench. Also, when propagating 100% matches, you don't know which one is the original one.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It gives me accessibility from any device.
Intuitive CAT platform
What do you like best about the product?
I like the following about Smartling:
- the platform is easy to use;
- you have everything in one place: the translation memory, the glossary, even the potential machine translations that you can choose from;
- you are able to sort your projects based on the delivery deadline, along other parameters;
- you have an embedded comments system where you can interact with your client, in case there are any comments/queries;
- you are able to see your earnings in real time;
- last but most important: payments are always very prompt and no fees are withheld;
- also, invoices are raised automatically and you do not need to manually calculate anything.

What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the following about Smartling:
- the processes have become too automatized and this has reduced by 25% the revenues you could have earned by doing manual/human translation;
- some shortcuts have not yet been developed (e.g. a combination of keys to automatically insert glossary suggestions in your translation, instead of hovering over them and then clicking to insert those suggestions);
- there used to be a wonderful feature, allowing you to merge smaller jobs for the same end client, instead of opening each and every small job separately. This used to save us quite a lot of time, which we now waste.

You have all your translation resources in the same place: translation memory with previous translations, style guides, glossaries, even machine translation suggestions to use or adapt. Not to mention the automatic invoicing system which eliminates administrative hassle.
Good experience, but visibility of important features is not ok
What do you like best about the product?
It is relatively easy to use and it helps a lot with very fast deliveries
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that I constantly need to expand various items on the right part of the screen. Issues should be readily visible from the get go. Also, in the case of fuzzy matches, Trados has a better approach. You can actually see what needs to be done without much digging.

It solves the MT output implementation part.
The Best Web-Based CAT Tool for Translators
What do you like best about the product?
As a translator, I've used more than four different web-based CAT tools, depending on each agency's preference. So far, Smartling has been the best. The reason is simple: it's easy to use.
Content loads quickly, even for heavy projects. In contrast, I've frequently experienced downtime and slow latency with other platforms, which slows my workflow and makes it harder to meet deadlines—a potential disaster for any freelancer.

What do you dislike about the product?
For jobs assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, the email notification reaches my inbox later than the assignment appears in the 'Available to Accept' section on the platform. Because of this delay, I've missed several good job opportunities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With other CAT tools, communicating with project managers or personnel responsible for a project can be complicated—it often requires back-and-forth emails. However, with Smartling’s built-in communication feature, there’s no need for endless email exchanges, making the process much more efficient.
Streamlined Translation Management with Strong Support
What do you like best about the product?
Smartling offers a very organized platform, making it easy to manage translation projects from start to finish. The interface is clean, and it has very useful tools. Asking questions to the clients via the platform is seamless. Smartling staff have such teamwork that they quickly reply to my inquiries and issues that I raise. Smartling is one of the best in the industry, and I feel fortunate to work with them.

I don't have anything that I dislike about Smartling.

Smartling helps centralize the entire translation process, which eliminates the need to juggle multiple spreadsheets, emails, and file versions. It ensures consistency in terminology through built-in glossaries and style guides, and the automation features reduce repetitive manual work.

Ai translations, glossary and other assisting features are easy to use and intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice if I can set the default order of the tasks. Every time I refresh the page, the order returns to (supposedly) client-based order. I prefer deadline-based order (ascending).
Also, it would be nice if I can see a summary of all the current tasks, where I can check how many words are due by when without scrolling or switching the windows.

The interface is easy to use and present very little (or no) complication.
Thanks to that, I can smoothly translate and move from one project to another.
The automatic invoicing is also very helpful. It reduces hustle of manual tasks of invoicing.

Very easy and light to use
What do you like best about the product?
It is intuitively easy to use. Everyone who has used CAT tool before would be able to work on this platform in a minute. I love how Smartling is integrated with AI and Machine translation tools that you can many option to work with. Also, this is an online platform so you basically would only need internet connection and browser to access it. I use the platform almost every day.
What do you dislike about the product?
Probably the only downside I see is that the UI sometimes feel old and cluttered. But you can also customize it if you want.

What I like the best is that, in some occasions when I couldn't be able to accept more projects, you can just put you're not available to accept anything else and it's as easy as that

Sometimes the jobs have many incoherences, I guess because it's been done by several linguistics, and you can find formal and Informal way of treatment in the same job, for example

When I ever had a problem, Ive written the IT team and the solved it quickly, but I don't remember lots of problems, I think just one when my translation disappeared (what I had done so far)

I wish Smarlting has performance & feedback section for the translator monitor their work.
I believe it is crucial for translators to have access to their performance and feedback data to effectively monitor and improve their work. Currently, there is no clear mechanism for this.

As a translator, I find the tool's robust translation memory and glossary features extremely useful for maintaining consistency across projects. It also allows for direct communication with the client when issues arise. These features not only speed up the translation process, but also ensure quality and consistency.
