I use Smartling every day for my translation and editing work
What do you like best about the product?
Smartling is a powerful tool which I use daily. It allows me to translate content quickly and precisely without missing a single word, keeping consistency throughout the text and checking grammar and spelling. Thanks to Smartling, I can concentrate on the quality of the content, e.g. the requested tone of voice, the style and fluency in the target language and the matching with specific terminology of the subject and glossary eventually provided. Finally, the "Open issue" feature allows me to ask questions and receive the answers directly, saving time and effort.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the tags are not correctly positioned, but this is an issue I can easily overcome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps to keep consistency throughout the content, avoid spelling errors and ensure the whole source text is translated.
Streamlining Translation for Global Success
What do you like best about the product?
What I absolutely love about Smartling is how much time it saves me! The automation and integrations make everything run so smoothly, freeing me from tedious manual tasks and giving me more time to focus on quality. And the visual context feature—wow, it’s a total game-changer! No more guesswork, just accurate translations right from the start. Smartling truly feels like it was built for people who want the perfect mix of efficiency and accuracy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartling’s AI translation engine, Foundation, is a huge time-saver, but it’s not flawless. For nuanced or highly creative content, it can sometimes fall short. It’s great for speeding up the process, but I wouldn’t use it without oversight. Think of it as a supportive assistant rather than a full replacement for human translators.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me, Smartling solves the constant back-and-forth that usually comes with managing translations. Instead of dealing with messy spreadsheets, email chains, and version control issues, everything is in one place. That alone saves me a lot of frustration.
The automation features also make a big difference—I don't have to waste time on manual tasks like importing and exporting files. It's not perfect, and there are things that could be improved, but overall, it makes my job easier and helps me work more efficiently.

User-friendly CAT tool
What do you like best about the product?
The CAT tool itself is quite good in my opinion - easy to work in, easy to find ressources if some are attached and so on. The issues feature is also very practical in order to ask questions to the client if needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
The differences between the workflows that are implemented aren't always clear to me (linguist review, aiht and so on). It also sometimes takes a while for PMs to answer querries as we don't have a direct line to them.

Intuitive tool
What do you like best about the product?
It's very easy to use, just log in, pick a job and go. Doesn't require installation, and it's very intuitive. I love that it implements 100% matches along the way.
What do you dislike about the product?
- The colors of the different workflows are too similar. Why choose an orange for editing and then a lighter orange for AI?
- The feature where I can combine multiple jobs into one is gone. I used this feature a lot, as I have a lot of really small editing jobs from the same endclient, and the same project
- Huge problem: It tends to choose AI translation over high matches/100% matches which is very counterproductive

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work as a freelance translator, so I don't know if Smartling is solving any problems, but it helps me work :)
Great support, great proprietary resources, but rates keep going down
What do you like best about the product?
Smartling has a very professional enviroment, and their portal/Translation platform is excellent: easy to use, reliable, and fast.
Project managers are helpful and usually hear your feedback/concerns.
Project managers are helpful and usually hear your feedback/concerns.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartling has reduced my rates in half since I joined it. They say productivity is higher with all new technology and AI, but actually now I'm working more hours and making less money.
There is also inflation to take into account. Also, this is not a trend within the industry, as the other agencies I work with have not decreased my rates.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This question does not apply to me, I hire my services to Smartling.
Simple to use, easy-to-understand interface.
What do you like best about the product?
Direct access to a project and the ability to start translating immediately and easily. Frequency of use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not being able to include my own glossaries. Context not always available. Not receiving a purchase order for each project with the exact amount.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem of rapid implementation. thanks to Smartling, I can access a project quickly and start translating with all the necessary elements (glossaries, context, etc.)
Good tool
What do you like best about the product?
The platform is easy to use, clear, and provides flexibility. The ease of visualization in context and the ease of asking questions are among the positive aspects of the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are no shortcuts that speed up the insertion of tags.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Facilitate the translation process
Straightforward and seamless work platform for linguists
What do you like best about the product?
I like that using the platform is self-explanatory and a lot is automated. As a linguist, I can often work independently which is very time-effective.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes one has to work on individual strings without context, and also that fact that you need to reach out to the PMs via email if strings need to be reopened.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartling is removing a lot of the communication around the assignment of tasks that is necessary with other agencies.
Very professional company, lots of opportunities
What do you like best about the product?
All systems are integrated in one platform, which is a huge advantage for me as a freelancer. There are always opportunities to complete work and all processes are carried out fast and very professionally. It really is a great company to collaborate with.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have suggested a couple of times what I believe could be an improvement in the translating platform which I believe would be very easy to implement and it would help keep the consistency of the translation. This suggestion has been passed on but Smartling must have decided not to implement it. There is really nothing else I dislike about Smartling.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am a freelancer translating for Smartling, which provides me with quite a lot of work opportunities in very varied and interesting fields.
User-friendly platform
What do you like best about the product?
It's very easy to use and helps you smooth your workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe their notification system. When I receive a notification about a job, it has already been accepted by someone else.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's really useful in terms of translation memories and glossaries. It helps me save a lot of time when I have to translate segments that have already been translated (partially or completely).
