    Marketing and Advertising

A great product for most users, but that lacks some features for power users

What do you like best about the product?
The user experience is the best of any analytics product that I've used.

It is extremely intuitive to build reports compared to other products. I'm able to give my team access, and they're able to build the reports they need, instead of me building dashboards for them. This not only saves me time, but also means they're understanding the numbers better.

I also think it does group analytics better than any other tool I've used, which was important to us.

Getting started was easy and we were able to easily export our data, which isn't the case with all SaaS tools we've used. This was great for when we wanted more complicated analysis or to combine other data sets, but also meant we didn't feel locked in which is a huge plus.
What do you dislike about the product?
We left Mixpanel because of pricing. But pretty much as we were offboarding and had just set up with our new tool (Posthog), they announced that they were lowering the prices. So they're clearly listening to their customers.

Posthog has a steeper learning curve but some more powerful features that are really great that I don't think we could do in a mixed panel, such as:

1. Building complex queries using SQL
2. Making the system much more flexible
3. Doing exception tracking (which we're now considering is replacement to Sentry)
4. Recording sessions
5. A few other tools which allows it to also replace things like Clarity
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding how customers find and use our product, and making it easy to slice and dice key business metrics with all of the data we need to make good decisions.

It's been a great addition to our analytics stack

What do you like best about the product?
Mixpanel integrates with our AB testing platform, making it easy to analyze test results from a user level. It seems like there are endless possibilities for data analysis, and reporting.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the most complicated this about Mixpanel is the face that client side and server side events are separated from one another so we need to note whether an event is client or server side.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to look at events at a user level. It is also a great tool for creating attribution reports. I use it all the time to look at conversion rates across the website for different types of users.

Engineer that need to work with data

  • July 30, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to learn and use, once you set it up, I can make quick graphs and board with all the data that I need
At the same time it is very easy to learn for manager or people with no technical knowledge
What do you dislike about the product?
I (as engineer) would like to have some way to control the quality of the events, for example our Data teams needs 5 properties to count a purchase as successfull (out of 15 we send) i would like to be able to make events change color if they fulfill this properties as some sort of "global value" instead of create filters on each graph or board I am creating. For example I open a graph and when I search for "purchase_success" It automatically splits them between complete or incomplete. Where somehwere in my profile I can configure what is complete or incomplete

Any way you guys are doing a freaking amazing job at this :P
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps both Engineers and Managers to know how the app is performing, and helps take decitions to move forward

for example:

"What page is the one that has more traffic" -> lets sell some space there to big compannies to put custom advertisments
"What is the traffic of the new page" -> do we remove it or try to move traffic there in another ways
"From where do the users go more often to purchase a match" -> lets try to use that CTA more often

Easy recommendation for usage tracking

What do you like best about the product?
There was a UX update a few years ago that has created an elegant report building experience. I would trust my non-technical leaders with the solution just as much as my support team doing deep user research. The sharing experience is also excellent, formatting clean visuals inside of an email client is not an easy task but Mixpanel did an exceptional job. I used to believe MixPanel was the entry point for startups and team would graduate from the solution but we are currently using the software long past when I would have typically moved off of the software. Any viable alternative is more expensive and often full of features that would go unused. At one point I had not right sized our usage, it was the only time I had to use the customer support network and it was painless. We came to a resolution that worked for both sides after a few emails.
What do you dislike about the product?
My first point is a backhanded compliment of Mixpanel. It is highly configurable but you have to live with what you create. When setting it up don't fall into the trap of thinking it is easy and carefree. The software is easy to use but taking time to really think through the usage stats you want to gather and how to name them will create a scalable and intuitive environment. I know they have a "codeless" solution. For early stage start ups it is a low cost method to get going. It truly tracks the exact object though, as the product grows I would recommend embedding the usage tracking in the actual codebase. It scales better that way. I appreciate having the option but I personally don't recommend it when a development team is available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mixpanel gives us insights into my 3 core stakeholder groups. From a product perspective it allows us to make informed decisions on where to invest in our current product. Our support team uses it to gather details on a user to help in the debugging process. Our Customer Success team uses it to identify power users and study their usage patterns. Winning patterns are then shared across out user base. Our board uses it to quantify usage for potential investor discussions.

A power Data Viz tool

What do you like best about the product?
I really like how fast we can compute metrics, sharing with other team mates, filter and breakdown in less than a sec. And also the beauty of the boards making the visualisation super clear
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of personnalisation on the user profile (I would like to enabled/disable the access on some features for some user profile - Member, Analyst...)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mixpanel helps us to
- define and share to the company the metrics we built and spread them
- make easily analysis, go into the details of some metrics..
- identify bugs with alerts
- govern our data

My go to analytics tool

  • July 28, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
How intuitive it is. I started using Mixpanel with no analytics training and almost no technical abilities and quickly found my way.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that I cant manually merge profiles or delink profiles from an identity cluster.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mixpanel solves so many problems and helps us understand who our users are. Mixpanel helps us monitor onboarding conversion rates and identify friction points in the onboarding journey, It helps us with marketing metrics and understanding where our users are coming from and tracking their value over time. Mixpanel also helps us with retention and understanding which users retain better but also when to intervene to ensure that we do retain our customers. Mixpanel has allowed us to fully understand who our customers are, where they come from, what features they use and what features they don't use, how our marketing efforts influence acquisition and retention, track A/B testing. We have been able to double our conversion rates using the insights gained and ensure that we retain our customer far longer than we used to. We have adjusted product offerings because of insights and this has meant far better retention rates.
