Generally a solid core product but support and onboarding are mediocre
What do you like best about the product?
The security gateway is a very robust and highly customizable solution. Once you have it up and running it functions quite well and does a good job of stopping threats. It layers well with Google Workspaces, once you have it up and running.
Users find the security awareness training videos quite enterntaining and the short format helps with compliance.
Users find it fairly easy to self service their quarrantines after a little training, saving on admin work.

What do you dislike about the product?
Support is knowledgable but I get the impression they are very overtaxed. The onboarding process was a slog, we purchased the integration assistance, but it took weeks for our implementation specialist to acutally reach out to us, by that time we had already started configuring the product ourselves. I would strongly recommend purchasing the implementation assistance, especially if you plan to use this with Google Workspaces. It's a rather involved process and you're going to have a bad time if (when) something goes wrong as the implementation docs are rather terse.
The product also requires quite a lot of fine tuning and adjustment in the first few weeks, so expect some degree of complaints from your users. Again, having the assistance of the implementation specialist is key here otherwise you'll need to deal with T1 support which is not always the most helpful or responsive.
The SAT dashboards are pretty but a bit sparse. Getting simple information like a list of non-compliant users is more work than it should be.
Google Workspace integration is also a little bare-bones. It would be nice for users to be able to report messages via the Gmail interface instead of the Mimecast portal.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Securing our email from outside threats and Security Awareness Training. It's defintely another layer of security preventing our users from engaging in risky online behavior.
Simple, intelligent and powerful email security gateway
What do you like best about the product?
Mimecast is pretty straightforward to set up, yes absolutely it's a technical platform but it still ticks a lot of boxes. We were getting really hammered by standard end-user email platforms sending numerous emails spoofing our CEO and it got to the point that we were concerned that we only had to have one of those phishing emails hit hard for our reputation to be very hurt. We opted for Mimecast and boom - no more silly emails. We also send many outbound emails via Amazon SES and Mimecast is brilliant at accommodating this for us, so it honestly ticks so many boxes and maintains security.
A quick note on onboarding and support, for years I've used Mimecast and have always been really delighted with the technical and interpersonal skills of their engineers. Really brilliant service all round, and prompt responses whenever I need a guiding hand for configuring stuff or something doesn't quite click in my head and needs explaining.

What do you dislike about the product?
We opted for the Mega-Plan and it integrates pretty well, it does need a few Azure Enterprise Apps to be plugged in to work. A few minutes work, not a massive biggie.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Preventing a small horde of spammer and whalers from getting through the door to 'speak' to my users, per-user ACLs also ensure I can have exactly the right people getting the right e-mails without opening the door for everyone in the company to receive from that domain. We also didn't previously have email-archiving which I thought was crazy and Mimecast has helped ease my fears on that count, we also use it for more practical things such as identifying emails sent to leaver accounts which Microsoft would outright reject (or make awful to search for).
Robust enterprise email security solutions
What do you like best about the product?
Mimecast advanced email Security gives me peace of mind knowing that our associate's mailboxes are protected against malicious email threats and attempts to disrupt our business. Having email filtering, encryption and archiving all in one solution just makes sense. Mimecast support and account managers have always taken care of us to ensure our solution is configured and functioning as intended.
What do you dislike about the product?
Admittingly, it's not the easiest solution to manage, but the more time you spend in it the easier it is to administer and understand for a system as complex as it is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Protection against ransomware and other email threats, including protecting our clients information when sending externally and using the encryption feature.
Great protection that is easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
Extremely happy with Mimecast, easy to use and I have a good confidence in the level of protection. Support is also great and responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are quite a few false positives until you get the product configured well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Attachment, link and impersonation protection
Seemless implemenation and Powerful Product
What do you like best about the product?
With the guided help of an implemenation engineer, Mimecast Advanced Email Security was hassle free to implement along side of O365. The product has a seemingly endless array of products and services all of which work just as well as the next. Mimecast enabled us to remove our old non-functional email security product taking us to a new strength of email security.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't really much to dislike about the product. It's simple to operate even for a non IT user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mimecast is providing cutting edge email security for the business. Previously with other used products, we never felt comfortable that our email security was 100% and we always felt vulnerable. Now, we know that we are protected as best we can using Mimecast.
Core products are great!
What do you like best about the product?
Simplicity, administration and user interface. Customer support is always positive with the sucess team and technical areas. The system is used daily by the support desk as well as our infrastrucutre team - and of course our users. Search capability is great, reducing cache in outlook. Secure Send and Large File attachments are great features too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall the product is great. Cybergraph and Missaddressed email can be hit and miss and needs more investment to fine tune missaddressed email. If it's not improved over the next 12 months or so, we may look at removing this service for another provider.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reducing the spam and phishing attempts signifiacntly, malcious content are stripped out.
Mimecast Advanced Email Security Hands-On Review
What do you like best about the product?
I like the granularity and control you can have via the many definitions and policies that are possible. Policies are generally easy to implement themselves and the documentation and tools tips are very useful. Mimecast offer a quarterly health check to ensure that the config still meets best practices and to advise if any new features have been released since the last review. Support from the customer success manager is great and also when logging tickets with main support team, I have always found responses to be insightful and not simply, just read this KB (though of course, KBs are referenced).
What do you dislike about the product?
Whilst there are many different policies that can be implemented, it can be tricky to know which ones you maybe should be implementing and those which are more niche. Perhaps filtering them in this kind of way would be useful. I know policies will differ between companies, but I suspect most would at least want a consistent best practice baseline to begin with and then tweak as they move forward. Additionally, whilst you can give policies a "narrative" to define what that policy is for, I would like to see a description field to be able to write more information. For example, you can have bypass rules for specific IPs, but its not easy to document whose IPs those are, so you end up with potentially multiple IP bypass rules so you can name each one, whereas if there was a description field, you could possible have just a single IP bypass rule.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We receive many spam related emails which Mimecast does a great job of holding back from the user. It also does a great job with its impersonation protection and spoof detection to block many malicious emails, however, it does currently suffer from comprimised email detection, where if the comprimised email does not send links or attachments but maybe just a request to switch communication platforms (i.e. move to WhatsApp), it can be difficult to block. Keywords / phrases can be configured, but that is all based on guessing what an email may contain. I believe Mimecast are working on a solution to this moving forward.
The Tortoise Eventually Wins
What do you like best about the product?
The great thing about Mimecast Advanced Email Security is that it works. Virus screening, spam screening, targeted threat protection and even phishing awareness - all of this works, with a relatively control panel that is easy to use. Implementation is relatively simple, as is integration with our on-premise Exchange server.
What do you dislike about the product?
The performance can be somewhat lacking, and over the past year or so, Mimecast have faced a number of issues outside of their control. Spam activity from customers who are sending out bulk mail have resulted in our own emails being rejected by spam-blacklists, but Mimecast customer support have been responsive and helpful in thos einstances. Our more frequent users have also had problems with TTP enrolment, another issue outside of Mimecasts's control, but one that has led to some of my more senior users complaining about the service.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mimecast helps to protect my organisation. It serves as an essential safeguard against those occasions where staff click the wrong link or open the wrong attachment.
A valuable enhancement to company's defenses against email attacks
What do you like best about the product?
Very flexible, many option to fine tune to your needs. Very documented. Great community and customer support. Once you get around and understand it become clear how to manage it. Only a few steps to implement this tool. Can implement to outlook with additional features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be overwhelming for new comers. Definitely need a training before jumping onboard and managing this great tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Greylists, blacklists are sorted out automatically. Regex can look for other patterns for malicious emails
