Good alternative but duplicates many M365 features
What do you like best about the product?
The awareness training is the best part. The content and actors are great which keeps our employees engaged.
What do you dislike about the product?
The features are duplicates of M365 features and they don't always work well together.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Spam and phising protection for our employees.

What do you like best about the product?
Mimecast has all of the email security options that we need, including spam, malware and impersonation protection. they also have an excellent email archive product
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the features, like targetted threat protection are add-ons and incure additional fees.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mimecast solves our spam, malware and phishing problems which increases our security posture. While occasional bad emails get through, 99% of them are stopped by Mimecast.

What I find impressive about Mimecast email security is its comprehensive approach to protecting against a wide range of threats while providing robust email continuity and archiving features. What do you dislike about the product?
One potential drawback of Mimecast could be its complexity and learning curve for new users, which might require a significant investment of time to fully understand and utilize all its features effectively. Additionally, some users might find the pricing to be on the higher side compared to other email security solutions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mimecast provides solutions for email security and management, including protection against threats like phishing and malware, filtering out spam and junk mail, ensuring email continuity during server outages, offering data loss prevention through archiving and backup solutions, and simplifying compliance and legal discovery with advanced search capabilities. These features enhance email security, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and data protection.
Industry leader for Secure Email Gateway (SEG) providers
What do you like best about the product?
Extremely robust and granular controls over every policy and potential vector that attackers will try and use to compromise your end users via email. They also have integration into other platforms via their API for security events if you operate a SIEM or have a SOC service. Finally a retention policy which means you never have to worry about email backups again...we have 99 years!
What do you dislike about the product?
There product roadmap appears to have slowed down somewhat as of late. Features and enhancements were very regular cadence..but as of 2024, not so much. Example: Their Outlook plugin hasnt had an update since 2022. They are clearly pivoting to sectors such as Human Risk & Behaviour based products, which may have resulted in slowing down development of their core SEG product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Protecting all my end users from malicious emails and attachments automatically but also empowering end users to self-service for email retention and search or releasing emails that have been caught in digest, so that IT don't have too.
Does what it's built to do.
What do you like best about the product?
Retention of every email sent/received. Filters and rules that work. You get what you are meant to!
What do you dislike about the product?
Since their new UI change, some things still don't work, like feature request / feedback button still doesn't work. Sometimes the filter / spam rules are a bit strict with no explanation as to why.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mimecast keeps all our in/out emails so we don't have to manage long-term storage. It also manages all elements of email security/filtering. We also use it as a mail server for 3rd party apps that need to send emails using our domains.

Too complex, no real logs available, hides a lot of whats going on

What do you like best about the product?
There are so many features for Mimecast that we use daily, it is hard to summarize what we like best. I will instead highlight one feature that we like, however is not "the best" one. That feature is the ability to create customized filters for emails. Mimecast assists our company by filtering out most, if not all credit card information sent via email. Being PCI compliant, this is key for our company to do the absolute best to prevent sensitive data from being transmitted.
I was not involved with the implementation, however I have had to use support a couple of times and those times yielded a quick response each time.

What do you dislike about the product?
there is not much to say, however if there was a way to not require MFA on every login on the same device that would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The advanced email filtering and scanning helps our org so that we do not have to rely solely on Microsoft exchange in doing the entire job.
Overall a strong product with a mostly hands off approach.
What do you like best about the product?
The product as a whole integrates well into our environment and does a very good job of detecting possible threats and scanning URLs. For end users and for most aspects of it's configuration it has a high ease of use and ease of implementation.
What do you dislike about the product?
When hands-on intervention is needed, the organization of their UI could be much better as it is confusing at times where to go to resolve the issue as many dashboards have similar names/functions but are just different enough to not work the way you expect. Customer support is also usually slow at responding to issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
General email security, preventing phishing attempts, preventing unsafe file attachments, preventing impersonation attempts. It cuts down on the amount of phishing attempts seen by our users exponentially.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use and fully customizable, gui is way better than other competitors.
What do you dislike about the product?
Doesn't have ability to connect mimecast with windows ad.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's blocking all the spams and blacklisted email addresses.

The Admin Centre can be unnecessarily complex for an end user who is not the IT specialist.

As stated before blocking spam and marketing emails.
