Amazing product, friendly interface, zero account management
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Mimecast is how easy it is to manage and implement. From all the basics of emails protection like allow/deny lists, to more advanced features like greylist checks and DMARC rules, it does all from a very friendly interface and once you get used to its logic, the daily usage of IT admins, to the sporadic use by end users just makes this product probably the best in class on its market.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only caveat to something so ease to integrate and manage is the customer support and account management that is often lacking. Customer support is not always helpful, or will only provide a link to their knowledgebase rather than helping with troubleshooting, and it's very hard to find anyone on the account management side of the house that can be a point of contact for escalations, renewals, and so on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing permit/block lists based on return-path or sending domain, blocking spam, creating rules, all on an easy-to-manage interface, with granular permissions that allows service desk roles to do the basic and level 3 admins to manage complex rules.
Great Product, but account management could be better
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, setup and configure. Policies are super easy to start with and allows alot of customisation to fit any organisation. Implementation Team very helpful and worth every penny.
What do you dislike about the product?
Account Management. This is the only downside I can find, we spent our first year not even meeting our AM, finding tickets are often going without frequent updates which is quite frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mimecast was brought in to replace an old underperforming spam filtering system that was allow too many false negatives. Mimecast has successfully help us in reducing the spam exposure to the users.

What do you like best about the product?
What stands out most about Mimecast is how comprehensive yet simple it is. Despite the platform’s powerful and robust email security features, it's incredibly easy to use. The interface is so intuitive that anyone, regardless of technical background, can navigate and manage it effectively. This has been a game changer for our team, as we can focus on our core tasks while Mimecast silently but effectively guards our email communications.
Another huge benefit is their exceptional support. From the start, their team was dedicated to ensuring we understood every feature. The onboarding experience was particularly impressive – they didn’t just set us up and leave; they were there every step of the way to make sure we were comfortable with the system and maximizing its potential. Their commitment to customer care is something that truly sets them apart.

What do you dislike about the product?
To be completely honest, after nearly two years of using Mimecast, we haven’t found anything that stands out as a negative. The platform has consistently delivered on its promises, and we’ve had a smooth experience from day one. If anything, the only challenge might be that some of the more advanced features take a little time to fully explore and utilize, but the support team is always readily available to assist with this.
Overall, there hasn’t been anything we’ve found unhelpful—Mimecast has been a reliable and essential tool for our organization.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mimecast Advanced Email Security is solving several key challenges for us. First and foremost, it provides protection against phishing attacks, malware, and email-borne threats that could compromise our sensitive data. Before implementing Mimecast, we dealt with frequent spam and phishing attempts that posed significant security risks. Now, those threats are effectively filtered and blocked, giving us greater peace of mind.
Another major benefit is email continuity. Mimecast ensures that even during outages, we have uninterrupted access to our email systems. This has been invaluable for our team, as it minimizes downtime and keeps us productive.

Easy to Manage Advanced Email security
What do you like best about the product?
Mimecast Advanced Email Security is a great tool to add a layer of protection to corporate email solution, it has lots features which cover many elements of an emails journey and contents giving our end users confidence when working with email. It is easy to implement and once set up requires little intervention from IT staff in the day to day management of email send and recieve functionality. Users are able to self assess held of flagged emails and decide whether they think they are safe or malicious based on Mimecasts recommendations.
Mimecast Advanced Email Security integrated straight into our Microsoft365 tenancy with very little effort and the Outlook add in allows a further level of integration and convenience to the end user.
Mimecast Support has improved vastly over the years we have been a customer, it is now a very quick and easy way of sorting out any issues that do arise.

What do you dislike about the product?
Mimecast Advanced Email Security can take some time to tailor the impact on end users to begin with. Time and effort is needed to construct the correct whitelists and exceptions, as well as adjusting the spam filters to avoid an excessive amount of email being incorrectly held. The only other drawback is the usability of the administration portal, features and their policies can be hard to find as there are quite a few different levels to each function.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Since the introduction of Mimecast Advanced Email Security in our business we have seen a massive reduction in phishing and other malicious emails being delivered to users inboxes. On top of the reduction of risk associated with this, we have also seen our users become much more aware of suspicious emails thanks to the messaging they see from the Mimecast product. The IT team now spends a lot less time in the administation and 'checking' of emails coming into the business, it has enabled our users to be more self sufficient and confident in what they are responding to.

What do you like best about the product?
I was basic admin with mimecast then promoted as super admin for mimecast tenant. For me mimecast best in preventing spoof emails and also for attachment protection. Mimecast profile group for managing multiple security policy in same directory.

What do you dislike about the product?
Mimecast support usually takes 24 to 48 hours in terms of request acknowledgement. There should be easy option to escalate urgent matter.

Reliable, robust, feature rich and always innovating
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the real-time view of email using the tracking feature. Being able to see immediately the receipt of emails and how they are being assesed is really important. Also, the great range of security features make me confortable that Mimecast is protecting us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike. It has all the features and services I care about in email security, with a few extras our users love, like Large File Send.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mimecast is scanning and detecting threats to our inbound email. These threats range from typical AV infected emails, to phishing, to impersonation attempts, to URL hijacking. Mimecast also offers a 99 year archive, so we can restore individual or bulk mail from users going back to day-1.
Good range of security tools that are adapted for evolving threats
What do you like best about the product?
The platform is extended regularly with new features to deal with evolving threats. Having a quarterly review to ensure that we are getting the most from the system and it's configured based on best practice is a nice touch and provides value. The mail archive is useful for industry compliance retention purposes as is the content examination feature making sure that customers don't send us credit card numbers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the 'enhancements' have made the system more difficult / cumbersome to administer, such as the removing of the tabs. The system is also expensive, and annual rises of 8% which is mandated to support R&D is steep.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps to keep the business safe against email based risks and filtering out unwanted spam emails.
An extra layer of email security
What do you like best about the product?
Securtiy aspect of email, Catching emails with policies that can be customised, Automatic spam score and catching emails. Integrtes as an add in with outlook classic. Provides an extra layer of security. Being able to check reports for spam, phising attempts.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI in the administration side and getting to certain screens is difficult, you might need to go through 5 screens just to set up delegate inboxes
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Impersonation attempts, Phishing emails, Most of them get stopped by mimecast before reaching a users inbox
It's amazing how many emails it stops for us!
What do you like best about the product?
The automated spam screening is probably the best feature as I do not need to worry about emails that fail graylisting, are in RBL, ones that Mimecast detects as having spam content, and email addresses/domains that users themselves want to be blocked.
The customisation of the policies is fantastic too and really allows us to easily finetune what actions we want taking on certain emails and allows us to override it when we do not want action to be taken.
Customer support is really good and the documentation available is useful. I have also completed the Mimecast University and I would recommend this to anyone who is administrating Mimecast.
The large file send and secure message send are part of our business practices now and we feel safe knowing that these types of emails are sent correctly and securely, and with automatically generated instructions to the recipients so we don't need to explain to them what to do.

The upgrades last year to the administrator console were in my opinion a bit of a downgrade. I have given it time to settle in my mind, but I liked having the tabs open rather than having to open a tab on my browser.

Reliable and effective
What do you like best about the product?
Mimecast reliably handles email with effective scanning for malware, impersonation attacks etc. No realistic alternatives in the field.
What do you dislike about the product?
The admin user interface is confusing but at least it hasn't significantly changed over the last few years so once you get used to it you can live with its idiosyncracies.

Preventing massive amount of spam at source, dealing with malware before users click on dangerous links.
