Connecting our Cassandra instance and updating search index & analytical OLTP workloads with Aiven
What do you like best about the product?
Avien helps with managing our OLTP database applications through its buffer allocation feature. It effectively captures changes that are made in our Cassandra instances and buffers them into the specified operational data stores of our choosing. It enables configuring our Cassandra instances to replicate data across different downstream data stores. This provides resilience towards the regional network interruptions and business continuity through advanced replication features.
What do you dislike about the product?
The dislike from my side on using Aiven for our Cassandra instances is none as it can scale out any number of nodes to manage our workloads thanks to its linear scalability.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Aiven provides an excellent DBaaS platform for connecting and managing our Apache Cassandra clusters. Its web console is comfortable for organizing the service groups under different topics and managing its billing settings. Since it's hosted in the AWS cloud platform, the uptime is 99.99%, and we needn't worry about failovers and downtime. It also aids with updating our search index and analytical workloads for data stored in our Cassandra instances and enables real-time visibility for our Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) requirements.

Maintain your cassandra instances in a simple way
What do you like best about the product?
The main advantage of this solution is the support for updates that are carried out in apache Cassandra, and you have them in a single point. The update is as simple as going to the web administration console and selecting the instance you manage to perform the update. It also facilitates cluster management to see which machines are consuming more resources and thus balance or add more replicas to the cluster.
What do you dislike about the product?
Prices vary depending on the cloud provider we are working with. At this point, it would be better to have a base price that could vary depending on the needs of each project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The primary use case is where we have different instances or machines running apache Cassandra and need to centralize the management of all of them in a single point using a simple interface that facilitates the deployments and the migration process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a good solution for those projects that need to streamline the management of cluster instances and increase their efficiency in terms of service and application deployment in cloud environments.
Aiven keeps us always confident with our database system
What do you like best about the product?
Aiven helps us to monitor PostgreSQL and perform optimizations. We no longer have to worry about unnecessary technical things so we can maximize our time to think about other things.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, when we contact customer support to ask questions or ask for support, the response is not as fast as we expected. Hopefully in the future this can be further improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The performance of our database is improved than before, besides that it is also easier for us to monitor and scale when dealing with high traffic. As a result, our customers are happy
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you don't have the resources to manage your database system, use Aiven for peace of mind.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a small team, and Aiven lets us focus more on application code than pulling hairs to manage the database. It's cheaper and reliable
Checking it out
What do you like best about the product?
Getting access to a database without the hassle of setting up a server.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've not clearly come to terms with what is the actual benefit of aiven compared to AWS for instance - apart from what I said above. Will have to argue about this with my collegues, because they are favouring AWS. In the meantime I hope to get answers by using the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My task was to get going with a database rather quickly. Being a startup ourselves we had to get our prototype up in a matter of days. This goal could be reached. Lets see, where we get from there. Next task is refactoring the database without interruption to the product we have so far - hope to be able to achieve this with database forking.
Best way to manage your kafka infra
What do you like best about the product?
I like how aiven provides a very simple platform and UX for the Kafka console to be able to access it with ease. As Aiven is managing Kafka for us we don't need to worry about downtime of any case, Our whole infrastructure is built around Kafka and aiven is making sure that it's working 24x7.
What do you dislike about the product?
No far I haven't had any issues with Aiven Kafka.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our service-to-service communication is happening via Kafka, we are a data ingestion platform and we push GBs of data every day for our downstream teams to consume.
Easy to get started managed Kafka
What do you like best about the product?
It was straightforward to get a cluster started and get a proof of concept working. Also, the all-inclusive billing model is great when trying to determine costs for budget planning. The UI was easy to use and the sales/support was great in helping us get started.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main thing that it didn't have versus some of the other services we evaluated was the number of built-in connectors. For example having support for a Kafka Connect Lambda Sink would have been beneficial.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are looking to create an event-driven architecture using Kafka as the mechanism to do that.
