Flexible and Comprehensive, Lacks Developer API
What do you like best about the product?
I love using Notion as it serves as my second brain, especially given my ADHD, by organizing all my project management and to-do items seamlessly. The integration of markdown and point-and-click functionalities is crucial for me, as it adapts effortlessly to my fluctuating work styles—whether I'm in a creative mode needing a mouse or coding days using a keyboard. The presence of AI embedded right from the keyboard greatly enhances my productivity, allowing me to have everything I need in one place. I deeply appreciate its modularity, where its various independent components and features are designed to fit well together, providing a cohesive experience. Its versatility and adaptability to different working scenarios are what keep me using it almost daily, both professionally and personally.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that Notion lacks an API for developers to create their own add-ons. As someone who enjoys making my own tools and features, the absence of this capability limits my ability to tailor the platform to my specific needs. In comparison, competitors like Obsidian allow for such customization, which is something I find invaluable. Without the ability to develop and integrate my own solutions, my workflow with Notion feels less automated and efficient than it could be.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Notion as my second brain for project management and to-dos, adapting to my varying work styles with ADHD, whether I'm coding, being creative, or free writing.
Streamlined Project Management with Minor Timeline Tweaks
What do you like best about the product?
I have really come to appreciate Notion's relations and rollups feature, which significantly enhances project management by allowing unique databases for various projects. This capability eliminates the need to replicate data, as it automatically gathers relevant information, contributing to increased transparency, especially in cross-departmental and long-term projects. Notion's ability to consolidate almost all project communications into a single platform, rather than relying on emails or side messages, has markedly increased our team's efficiency and communication. I also find immense value in Notion's capacity to automate repeatable tasks, which reduces the mental load and ensures that tasks, even those repeated infrequently, are not forgotten. This system of automation is paired with an easy onboarding process, allowing team members to engage with the platform quickly and with minimal additional training. This streamlined setup makes creating complex workflows and automations straightforward, even for a new user like myself who only started using Notion six months ago. This combination of features provides a customized, efficient experience while enabling leadership to maintain oversight with the full view of projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the timeline feature in Notion to be a bit clunky for project management purposes. It does not allow multiple occurrences of a task to be shown on the same line, which results in a cluttered visual when dealing with tasks repeated over time, like a quarterly report. Additionally, the filtering for timelines based on date is not ideal, as I would prefer it to adapt to the point of time I'm scrolling through on the timeline rather than being static from today's date. Although I've worked around these issues, I feel this display isn't as intuitive or fully functional as other Notion features. Furthermore, our team cannot link Notion to other software tools due to heightened security measures, which limits integration options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find Notion enhances cross-departmental project transparency and communication, consolidating interactions into one platform. It allows me to create complex automations and workflows, tailor database views for customized project experiences, and automate tasks, reducing mental load and ensuring efficiency.
All-in-One Data Hub with Helpful AI, Learning Curve for New Users
What do you like best about the product?
I love that everything is in one place and that I can chat with the AI about my data specifically. It has been an easy learning curve, especially with the help of the AI to help teach me what it needs. I use it almost every day while running my business, especially when looking at multiple data points.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't think this is a notion issue, but I am still learning the system's process. It has been an easy learning curve, especially with the help of the AI to help teach me what it needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion is helping me store all of my data in a way that is functional and easy to use. Having AI on board has been even easier.
Intuitive and Feature-Rich, Minor Sign-In Hurdles
What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate Notion's user interface and features. The platform's design is superior to any other app I've used, making my experience smooth and enjoyable. I particularly value the feature that allows me to make pages private or public, and the convenience of sharing them with others easily. The pinning feature is incredibly useful, especially when I want to quickly access important links on a website. Additionally, I love the ability to insert pictures directly into my notes and the functionality that lets me create and manage a timetable within a page. The initial setup of Notion was practically effortless, allowing me to start writing without any hassle.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am frustrated by the frequent need to sign in every time I visit the Notion website. This login requirement disrupts my workflow and is inconvenient.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion provides a reliable platform for storing personal information and offers an interface to write blogs and create to-do lists. Its features such as making pages private, pinning important links, and using timetables enhance its utility.
Simplified Documentation and Task Management Champion
What do you like best about the product?
I really love Notion's simplistic UI, which makes it easy to find things and organize documents seamlessly. The ease with which I can create, modify, and relate databases is very impressive. Formulas within the databases are straightforward and simple to handle. I also appreciate the capabilities of Notion AI, which enhances my productivity by assisting me accurately. The tool’s simplicity greatly lowers the barrier to creating documentation, making it an excellent choice for team collaboration. This simplicity is why I’ve introduced Notion to multiple companies, leading to successful implementation as their daily tool. Notion makes it so incredibly easy to get started, especially compared to other complex tools like Atlassian, and offers a user-friendly way to manage documentation and product planning.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find myself frequently switching away from Notion to use Claude directly because I believe Claude currently offers better collaboration and discussion features for tasks that require back-and-forth refinement. Notion, while good at executing tasks, doesn't always prompt me with the right questions or take me through effective feedback loops to refine tasks comprehensively. Additionally, the absence of a dedicated iPad app for Notion's calendar feature is quite a hindrance for me. I want to move away from using Apple calendars, but until Notion is accessible on all my devices, I'm limited in making that switch.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Notion to simplify project planning and documentation, making it easy for my teams to get started with minimal complexity. It reduces the barrier to creating clear documentation and facilitates organization and scheduling effectively.
Effortless Document Organization with Notion
What do you like best about the product?
I love how Notion solves the problem of organization by efficiently managing all the documents our company needs and organizing cross-functional tasks seamlessly. I find it incredibly easy to build whatever I want with the help of its useful templates. Creating long documents with lots of prefabricated elements is a breeze; they're straightforward to add and adjust. The search feature is fantastic, allowing me to locate what I need quickly with keywords. Notion significantly speeds up my work, making my briefs more in-depth, and provides efficient organization for my documents. Switching from Google Docs to Notion was driven by the desire for more organization and the ability to have diverse document styles and formats all in one easily accessible place, along with the ease of adding comments. The initial setup of Notion was straightforward and simple, which enhanced the overall experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the way Notion AI suggested templates don't include an easy option to just start a blank page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Notion to organize company documents and cross-functional tasks, speeding up work and deepening briefs with customizable templates and a powerful search feature.
AI-Driven Workflow Automation with a Learning Curve
What do you like best about the product?
I truly appreciate Notion for its impressive AI capabilities, which have profoundly enhanced my productivity. The AI assistant within Notion is particularly exceptional, offering robust support and even possessing agent capabilities that allow it to autonomously build workflows more effectively. This automation has transformed my experience, as I can initiate the creation of new workflows without needing to know intricate setup steps—the AI handles it completely. Moreover, I've found Notion to be an invaluable asset for document and note storage over the past year, where its features have grown increasingly indispensable. Its capacity to centralize our project and task tracking into a single platform greatly aids in maintaining organization within my team. Thanks to Notion's functionality, we've even transitioned from other products to leverage its boards feature for advanced project and task progress management. The initial setup was notably simplified due to the AI, making it approachable without requiring extensive training, underscoring Notion's capacity to streamline complex processes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find that Notion has an overall complexity that comes with a learning curve. Once the AI sets something up, I am not always sure how to fix things when they break or make customized changes. This leaves me feeling uncertain about managing the setups on my own. Furthermore, I feel there needs to be an easier use interface and better explanations of what everything does in Notion to help users like me become more self-sufficient with the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion helps my team stay organized by providing a centralized platform for tracking projects and tasks. Its AI capabilities automate workflow creation, which streamlines our processes and reduces setup complexity, allowing us to build robust workflows effortlessly.
Powerful Tool with Room for Integration Improvement
What do you like best about the product?
I have found Notion to be simple yet incredibly powerful, which is a perfect combination for enhancing my productivity. Its wide range of integrations is particularly impressive, allowing me to connect with various other tools and streamline my workflow. The user experience is greatly enhanced by the thoughtful design and user flow within the system, which feels deliberate and well-executed. Furthermore, the initial setup was very straightforward, making it easy to start using immediately for my needs like task tracking, project management, and even AI transcription of meeting notes. I appreciate how efficiently it solves the challenge of obtaining searchable transcriptions without the need for an AI note-taker in every meeting, and how it provides a seamless ease of use as a task tracker.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the email and calendar features could be useful but don't integrate well outside of Gmail. It's a powerful tool but ends up siloed because it can't do much with other platforms. Also, there could be more design elements when creating pages that will face externally.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Notion for task tracking, project management, and meeting notes with AI transcription, solving the problem of inaccessible meeting transcriptions and offering ease of use for task tracking.
Unmatched Customization and Ease of Use in Notion
What do you like best about the product?
I love the customization capabilities in Notion — using it for SOP documentation, project management tracking, calendar tracking, etc. It's incredibly easy to use but has the ability to incorporate advanced features and components for more complex builds. It also integrates seamlessly with a lot of other tools that we use regularly as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the search functionality doesn't display all of the relevant pages, so it can be a bit difficult to find specific documentation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scalable project management tooling that can be adjusted per project to accommodate the needs and scope of the project and team. It's also great for documentation so our Ops teams can keep detailed records in various formats (i.e. the ability to embed tutorial videos in-line with instructional text). The AI features are also great for writing prompts for a variety of needs, and creating a great starting point to then go in and adjust as needed.
Organizational Ease with Notion, but Costly for Teams
What do you like best about the product?
I love how Notion makes it easy to organize my thoughts and documentation, acting like a second brain where I can document and reference crucial information that I might forget. The ease of using the slash command to create whatever I need and the AI assistant that accelerates the process of creating documentation are features I find incredibly valuable. It really enhances my workflow efficiency, allowing for effortless creation and modification of spike pages or various other documentation elements. I also appreciate the ability to share my thoughts effortlessly, although I keep integrations to a minimum to maintain a lean operation.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find that Notion AI doesn't effectively find and incorporate information from outside of Notion. While it performs well when working with data that's already recorded in Notion, its capability to gather external data and provide it through the AI assistant is lacking. Additionally, while using Notion as a second brain is advantageous, the fact that collaborating with multiple people requires payment limits its utility for group sharing unless a subscription is acquired.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Notion to document hard-to-remember information, creating an easy reference. It organizes my thoughts and documentation effortlessly and facilitates fast creation with its AI assistant.
