The product works. Can get expensive on some bigger connectors.
What do you like best about the product?
Reliability. The product works. We have rarely been let down by it.

Obscure pricing. Super normalised data models also just add to MAR

We use Fivetran to bring in data from external sources. We do not use their pre-built models
FiveTran is expensive but worth it
What do you like best about the product?
It has reduced our data engineer headcount and their communication about issues/bugs has been great, highly proactive. Our trust level is high with it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a proprietary platform, so it may not have long-term sustainability depending upon its cost effectiveness relative to other upcoming options.

Detailed review of Fivetran Connectors
What do you like best about the product?
We are at the beginning stages of setting up Fivetran as our ELT data stack tool. Fivetran has many useful features which could and we are hopeful would serve us well in our data strategy journey and implementation. Customer support seems to be great - you providing support/consulting during the first 90 days of account setup which is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
We are at the beginning stages of setting up Fivetran as our ELT data stack tool. We are currently facing some roadblocks regarding getting data out of Netsuite and Adaptive Insights/Workday Data sources as there is no a connector to those data sources currently set up in Fivetran. Would be great to see ease of integration to systems such as Netsuite, Workday, MyEvolv and proprietory systems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As I mentioned, Fivetran is going to be our tool for data extraction. We just got our account set up last week and still learning the tool as well as encounting few roadblocks regarding data extraction from our Data Systems/Sources. Netsuite and Adaptive Insights/Workday in particular.
A great looking product with a solid support team that is actively being worked on and improved.
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran looks great and is easy to use. I like that support is very sresponsive and that the engineers and devs are very active in making improvements.
What do you dislike about the product?
The comapany moves fast and sometimes that causes issues (data issues, downtime on connectors, etc). I would like to see more robust testing and QA before features roll out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moving data from A to B. Fivetran helped us solve this issue for a specific use case in a way that was compliant with our current security standards.
Simple, Easy and Very Useful transformations.
What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy the transformations to get reporting set up is; once created, doing a dbt core job on the data to create reports is very simple with the fivetran ads dbt packages.
What do you dislike about the product?
Getting the dbt core set up and running within fivetran seems less feature complete than running the dbt core job using your own agent. The error codes in fivetran are sometime not entirely full fleshed out, which can be confusing where the error is actually located.

Getting raw data into our snowflake database is very useful and extremely convienent.
Ideal for New Business Users
What do you like best about the product?
The low-code interface and automated processes make it easy for new business users in the business to set up and manage data pipelines without extensive technical knowledge. It automates the whole data extraction, cleaning, and transformation process which saves time and reduces manual effort. The customisable sync schedules lets us pull in data as per our requirements.

As the data volume increases, the cost can ramp up quite quickly which can be a concern when a business a scaling up

Its ease of use, automation capabilities, and extensive connector library make it an excellent choice for businesses looking to streamline their data processes without needing a dedicated data engineering team

Fivetran is an easy to use tool, very intuitive, the support is great and documentation is greatly appreciated.

The customization of some of the connectors can be tedious but the support and documentation is always ready to help on enabling smooth workflows.

It enables us to get easy connections between systems and our database, it simplifies our process greatly.

The simplicity in the configuration of the connectors and the great variety of them

Perhaps due to ignorance, but for me it is quite a black box how it makes the data transfer from source to destination.

Movement of data from operational sources to an informational platform in near real-time.

FiveTran excels in scalability and performance, and handles large volumes of data with speed. Its user-friendly interface simplifies complex data integration tasks, making it accessible for those with limited technical expertise.

FiveTran can be veruy costly for smaller organizations, with pricing that may not be as competitive as home-grown options.
