No-code, low fuss Extract Tool
What do you like best about the product?
- It is very easy to get started and ingest data. There is no infrastructure or code to manage
- There is a huge catalogue of connectors available which covers the requirements of most of the enterprise customers
- Fully managed service - that means you can set it and forget it without much maintainence

What do you dislike about the product?
- The pricing model is not very good. Pricing based on the monthly active rows is confusing and difficult to forecast the pricing
- Enterprise customers with a large amount of data might not find the pricing model very attractive.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Fivetran replaces inhouse data extraction python scripts and provides enterprise grade data, managed connectors that can pull data from a variety of sources.
- WIth this data engineers can focus more on delivering insights and data to business than spending hours writing customer extraction scripts and maintaining infra needed to run them

Fivetran is a useful service for optimizing your data organization and ELT processes
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran makes data engineering processes easier by replicating and automating our data warehouse complete with historical data. Using Fivetran's tables accelerates our time to publish data visualizations and help our chief-level staff perform using data-driven decisions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some services Fivetran offers - particularly with historical data and data warehouse tables - can be costly to automate and track. In some cases, there are accessible alternatives to track only a subset of this data for barely a fraction of the price.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When we used Fivetran, it helped our organization track events and event history across our platform in a way that is enabling us to efficiently organize and visualize data even with a limited amount of team members. With Fivetran's data replication and automated table production, data analysts can pick and choose which fields they need for stakeholder data visualizations without having to wait for the data to be prepped, cleaned, and organized by a data engineer. This massively increases our time to publish Tableau dashboards and quickly have access to data and data history that we may not have been able to utilize previously.
Good product when it works
What do you like best about the product?
Connectors are great for speeding up and keeping our schemas up to date.
What do you dislike about the product?
The connectors often break or are missing information. They often do respond quickly enough unless I, a C-level exec, ask why they aren't fixing it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easily ingesting our 3rd party and 1st party data
Effortless Integration for Real-Time Access to Clean and Accurate Data
What do you like best about the product?
There are advantages I see everyday and interact with when it comes to Fivetran. Writing this review, I would pay attention to the details of the Fivetran in a positive tone.
I like the way we interact with the connectors. This is because Fivetran provides pre-built connectors for over 100 data sources, with databases, SaaS applications, cloud storage, and more. I can't not mention the Automated Data Pipelines. It means Fivetran automatically ingests, transforms, and loads data into the data warehouse, eliminating the need for manual data integration.

What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing. Its pricing model is based on the amount of data being processed, which makes it more expensive compared to others.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Fivetran, we centralize data from many sources, such as databases, cloud applications, and local systems. Fivetran uses a fully managed method of data integration that does not require maintenance, which means that you do not need to spend time and resources on manual maintenance and updating of data connectors. This means that our data is automatically converted, downloaded and updated, allowing our company to access clean, accurate and complete data in real time.
It works mostly
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to configure sources and destinations.
MAR based billing although can be improved

What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing is on the higher side along with some stability issues at times with particular sources.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to stitch the data from all sources into a common warehouse.
Allows our business to take data-driven decisions.

Nice service to get sources moving. Lots of surprises regarding cost, so plan very carefully.
What do you like best about the product?
Overall ase of use, quick and thorough setup
What do you dislike about the product?
Costs. Onboarding process with sales was either misleading or simply not thought out well enough; they had verbally assured us of guesstimate costs based on our industry, but once we were using it their estimate was very far off the mark.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease of use in gathering 3rd party data sources that we needed.
Reliable, consistent and easy to get started with, but with many levels of complexity
What do you like best about the product?
The API is brilliant. Well documented and easy to understand, it is simple to work with and where things fall short, experimenting in the UI and then replicating the results via the API is straight forwards.
What do you dislike about the product?
The knowledge of third-party APIs and metrics needed to make the most of the system and the many mandatory fields in pre-built reports.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fivetran helps us integrate with multiple data sources. It cuts down the time we need to integrate data from a new source, reducing our need to develop many different methods of authorising data collection and fetching data.
Easy to use system. Lot of issues with our Sage Intacct connection... but great customer service
What do you like best about the product?
Set up is very intuitive and easy to follow - I am able to add connections very easily on my own. The site itself is also very straightforward to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our Sage Intacct connection has been very unstable... I switched to Fivetran after a bad experience with another company and have had just as many issues since switching. However, response time was great and their tech team has been great at keeping me in the loop.

Data Integration
Great bootstrapping option for the Modern Data Warehouse, but still some way to go
What do you like best about the product?
As the title suggests it's a great option for bootstrapping a brand-new data department where Data Engineers are expensive or difficult to hire. It works well with other lean-team modern data warehouse-type technologies such as Snowflake and DBT. I got 850 Shopify tables and a few other AD sources setup really quickly
What do you dislike about the product?
Whilst Fivetran runs interchangeably across data warehouses,
1) There lack support for low-latency refresh which means if you need data in your apps or dashboards within 5-10 minutes you'll need to build your own custom pipeline
2) APIs are interpreted and landed nicely for you, but this also means there will be a huge switching cost once you build your pipeline on top of the Fivetran loaders.
3) More complicated or large connectors just don't live up to the low-fuss no-code philosophy. There isn't enough architectural knowledge on the Fivetran team to help deploy these connectors successfully.
4) Their logging could be better, troubleshooting really complicated issues like wrong writes has been a non-starter since no write logs take place we simply can't tell how a wrong write ended up there
5) Primary Tables work great (tables with updated timestamps), but not everything syncs and we often have missing records on secondary tables - these are REALLY hard to verify (you only find out when the business points it out)
Some Examples of 3:
1) E.g. We've tried to set up a NetSuite connector for over 6 months, the lack of an ERD or data-dictionary map just makes it really tough to get it going
2) Google/Facebook Ads ==> Some connectors don't really drop data as expected - for web marketing you end up receiving jinja variables rather than the actual attribute {{ UTM }}, other tools such as Supermetrics tend to do better in imputing these for the end user.

Bootstrapping - As the person leading up a newly formed team, there was literally no way to build a Data Warehouse within 6 months without one of these low-code points and click connectors. I had a look at Stitch vs. Fivetran and decided to go with Fivetran even though Stitch had more connectors because Fivetran had developed DBT packages. Even though I no longer use them (the packages), they were a huge timesaver when I first started out.
A third party product for ETL data ingestion
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran is a great alternative to the previous inhouse built platforms we use. Fivetran allows us to stand up new vendors in a day rather than weeks, allowing us to test many platforms and continue growing our options.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the support system of Fivetran, which is not as developed as other platforms such as Hightouch. These platforms are in the same space and offer different products, but Hightouch offers much stronger customer support in my experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fivetran is solving the issue of data ingestion via ETL for us. This allows us to bring marketing data in from vendors like Google and Facebook and then use the TOF data in our analysis in order to drive higher performance.
