Feature addition and flexibility

  • April 14, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There is a vast array of connectors that allows extracting data from numerous sources
What do you dislike about the product?
There are connector features that don't make sense if you think about it from a development perspective, especially like the new Google Drive Beta which creates 1 table per each file and SFTP not supporting PGP
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Some of our data require PGP decryption or another encryption system; we would like this feature available

Quick and easy way to connect complex systems to your data warehouse

  • April 14, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is effortless to connect new applications to destinations, on average like ten clicks. The interface is simple enough to navigate and reasonably non-technical. Once set up, you do not need to come back to it. All in all, a very robust and reliable flow to your data warehouse.
What do you dislike about the product?
Support could be a little bit better. Also, for more advanced users, it would be nice to more detailed logging and more granular access control. Finally, many monitoring features are only available in the UI at the account admin level, which creates a management bottleneck sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Effortless consolidation of business application data in data warehouse.

Reliable team and technology

  • April 14, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The account teams are fantastic. They listen, are transparent, and genuinely want to help you succeed. Whether it's brainstorming with their product team to identify ways they can improve or giving feedback on beta releases, their team always takes time to listen and incorporate customer feedback.
What do you dislike about the product?
MAR has been a pain point for a while. We are not sure how to translate between rows to MAR to credits to dollars.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We do not need an engineering team building marketing data pipelines. The team is now free to transform and leverage the data vs fixing pipelines.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look at the pricing model for the future state to ensure you don't need to migrate to a larger platform.

The World's Best Data Engineer At The Click Of A Button

  • April 14, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's the world's best data engineer at a fraction of the cost. There's less maintenance, the architecture is managed for you, and the company is filled with thoughtful people constantly improving the product for users. It's the pipework that makes the modern data stack possible.
What do you dislike about the product?
Certain sources really drive up costs with the Monthly-Active-Row-based pricing model. Don't let this discourage you from using Fivetran but know what kind of sources you're planning on ingesting. Unless it's some event-based system that produces hundreds of millions of events a month, Fivetran is the best tool on the market. If it IS event-based and produces hundreds of millions or billions of rows in a single month, there are probably alternatives that might fit that use case better.

But in bang for the buck and breadth of connectors, there isn't a better tool available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've connected all of our relevant data sources to our data warehouse, where we can model that data with dbt and consume it in our BI tool of choice. It cuts down the resources required for data engineering so that a team can overhaul data infrastructure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Reach out to the team and ask about your use case. Figure out what sources you're using and what the monthly cost would be, and then consider the cost of a data engineer to maintain in-house solutions to do the same thing.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gathering data from multiple platforms

What do you like best about the product?
Simple Interface
Comprehensive connectors
Scheduling, Monitoring and Alerting built in
Transformation feature and DBT Support
No charge initial sync
What do you dislike about the product?
Support is not up to the mark and takes lot of followups and co-ordination to issue resolution
Expensive consumption based model
Unable to full sync data at field level putting more load on the source systems
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consolidating multiple application data into a single data repository for analytics
Extremely reliable service
Jumpstarts you to focus on analytics vs spending time building the plumbing
Ability to auto enable net new fields from source
No real monitoring required
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This will be the best decision you make to jumpstart your analytics and start serving the business needs.
It scales very well and requires little management/admin overhead.
Excellent pool of source connectors and ability to write to all major new age datawarehouses

Simple Clean Solution

  • April 14, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
UI is simple and very quick to setup. Sync times are flexible from very quick sub 5 minute runs to longer 24hr runs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tables with a lot of columns can be a pain to select a particular subset of, especially SalesForce tables with long names and underscores.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fivetran allows us to get data from our SalesForce environment into Heroku or SnowFlake to help centralize our data and minimize costs associated with API's on the SalesForce platform.

Awesome Product that saves so much time through automation

  • November 17, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Saves time for tedious tasks that can then be spent on more value adding tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
If there is no connector available for your source system. Reporting on usage data and cost could be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Aquiring data from various source systems into central data warehouse. Automates a lot and saves time.

Pain-free, effective tool

  • September 03, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
In general, system is extremely simple & hassle free. Also reliable: essentially never experience the annoying little issues that pop up with other such tools. New account manager has been tremendous as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Last year, one connector broke & took months to get to sufficient resolution. From the outside it seems they overhauled the organization to prevent issues like this in future. Oh and pricing model changed from connector-based to consumption based :(
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Large portion of our ETL runs through Fivetran, including some customized pipelines. Also use it to upload ad hoc files (csv etc) to DW extremely easily

Great ETL tool

  • August 26, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran is very easy to set up and get going. I've used it to try out new data sources and do one off data pulls. It's generally reliable, emailing the admin team when there are issues. Overall, it's the best ETL tool I've used to get data into my warehouse.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have a complicated advertising MCC that links up to Fivetran. Since the data in that MCC is often bad, it tends to delay the sync sometimes. That's the only issue I've had with the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As someone who works in Business Intelligence, but isn't a data engineer, Fivetran has helped me easily get access to the data I need to create reporting. I've been able to test new sources of data and run sample analysis in a very short period of time. It makes my overall process easier and faster.
