Memsource as a Translation Management System for a hybrid videogame localization team
What do you like best about the product?
We really appreciate the easy and self-explanatory interface of Memsource, especially for the Linguist accounts, which made it easy for us to incorporate new and rather unexperienced translators in our workflow. Additionally, I have enjoyed the many webinars and the info material provided by Memsource. Whenever there was a technical issue the user support was very quick to reply.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some features we are missing, e.g. the adjustment of formal/informal tone within a machine translation engine like DeepL. The management of translation memory and term bases could be easier (editing/updating translation memories, editing/updating multilingual term bases).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to manage a hybrid team of in-house and freelance translators who work on various continous projects. As the interface is easy to understand and there is a lot of educational material, it is easy to incorporate new members to the team without having to invest much time in explaining the tool.
Regarding the functions of a CAT tool, we mostly use the term bases as our translations are very creative and there is not much of a translation memory involved.
As a Project Manager it is easy to analyze texts and calculate quotes for our external translators, without having to invest much time in looking these functions up.

Time-efficient project management tool but can still be enhanced.
What do you like best about the product?
It is pretty quick to prepare a quotation/project, their support is also quite quick and efficient. Many languages supported.
What do you dislike about the product?
it doesn't support pdf not Illustrator (.ai) files and when I upload more than 3 files at a time, I get a message error.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Basically technical problems related to format issues, (pdf, Indesign....). I usually get an answer in the next 30 minutes after sending mu support request.
My experiencie with Phrase (previously Memsource) has been great.
What do you like best about the product?
It is a pleasure working with it, easy to use and little to no downtime. Also is important to take in consideration the support team behind it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside or a feature I would love they add would be more compatibility with other software and applications our freelancer may use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Memsource to help us with project management and give freelancers a secure platform to work on.

- Memsource helps me do my job quickly
Almost perfect for big projects
What do you like best about the product?
The search function with live filters is AWESOME. When you are translating a project of several thousand keys, it's more than probable that many of them are repeated. This can improve your consistency and speed.
What do you dislike about the product?
The web interface resets when you save one key and go to another. I would love to save my screen layout like the writing box size. Other settings like the history tab, comments, or other languages DO stay put, but the boxes change to the default size every time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solved the OS gap. Being a web interface I can work from windows, Mac, tablet or my raspberry just with a web browser. Very nice indeed
Recommendations to others considering the product:
From the translator point of view it's a pleasure to use and lightning fast. It has many powerful tools that far surpass any other that I've used to date
The entire localisation code in our application was reduced a lot

The API side of the phrase app. The POs can take care of the language and translations using the visual side of the application, and we get the data and the right format using the API key of phrase

Documentations on how to use phrase in specific frameworks can be improved a bit

Release to multiple markets with different languages

What do you like best about the product?
It's really intuitive and I love receiving emails for new task alerts. The Suggestion and Comments features are also very helpful for translation temas.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike. Phrase is in my top list of CAT tools.

Repetitions are really easy to manage with Phrase.

What do you like best about the product?
Extremely easy interface and even more effective for small to large projects. As easy it is to navigate there are more complex tools available and the support team has done a great job guiding me through these processes. The translation memory feature and project templates are also very convenient tools and huge time savers!
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing to really dislike about Memsource. The software might lag a little from time to time but it's not really an issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to integrate the Zendesk connector on Memsource has been a game changer for our support team and myself. The ability to export bilingual files has also been very useful for our dev team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are new to the industry or new to this software, Memsource goes above and beyond to help you learn the program and get the most out of what this software can do. They constantly host focus groups to maximize the abilities Memsource offers.
Great tool. Constant development and support. Using it for years. Highly recommended!

Design maybe, did not chan/ange in a while, yet, it still offers everything what a client needs.

We like the automatic management of the keys pool (creation and deletion)
We like the simplicity to edit a translation
We like that you can give access to a translator with a defined scope of keys to manage with a specific language

What do you dislike about the product?
The saving time froze the screen and is a bit long
When working on several languages, if you have access to lots of languages you cannot search for a specific one or have favorites on the top to avoid a lot or scrolling in order to find your favorite/specific language
