We've been using Phrase for over 2 years now and we are fully satisfied with the tool
What do you like best about the product?
I like that we have everything in the same tool: we can store all reference files, use MT with the engine of our preference, assign work to desired linguists and carry out the QA before downloading the completed files. All the members of my team can work in the same project with ease. Compared to the previous tools we used to use, which were offline, it is much more convenient.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does not work optimally for segments with numbers. With other tools, we could confirm a segment and it would propagate to other similar segments with more precision.
Also, as far as I know, the pricing model will change soon, which will make the tool less afordable for a small translation company such as the one I work for.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work for a translation agency, and we are slowly moving towards using MT for most of our projects. Phrase has made it very easy to select an appropriate engine for each project and customize it a bit with the Glossaries.
I do feel that CAT tools used to be mostly oriented towards translation agencies and linguists, and currently there is an emphasis on companies contracting the services directly and using AI and MT, bypassing us completely, which is understandably a sign of the times, but a also a bit disheartening. I felt in recent webinars that we were definitely no longer the target audience for the tool.

Good, but has some basic features missing
What do you like best about the product?
Instant QA is helpful to save time at the end.
Avoiding repetitions with one click is a special feature missing in other CAT tools.
The highlighted TB terms are very easy to see, so the translator does not miss them.
Customer support is also very helpful and replies quickly.

What do you dislike about the product?
I can not mark a word/some words with the mouse and move them to another position in the sentence. Reorganising sentences is very common while proofreading, specially in my pair DE-ES. But I have to copy and paste instead of moving the words. This is annoying as it is a very basic feature to implement.
I miss integration in Xbench tool. Once again, I need to copy and paste into Xbench, but probably this is not a problem that Phrase can address.

I am a freelance translator and Phrase is helpful for my business because the agencies get the license for me. Other CAT tools have very high licensing costs.
A tool with great potential
What do you like best about the product?
It's quite intuitive and easy to use. I have used it with different clients and the results have been good. The quality of the MT output was quite accurate. The preview mode and the filter are very useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Personally, I find the appearance a bit distracting. There are some parts of the screen I'd like to hide. Also, all segments have the same size and I think the current segment should be bigger than the others to help the translator focus on it.

Other tools have a very disadvantageous wordcount.
Phrase allows us to use a self-service model allowing us to keep a low headcount

Self-service portal - This allows us to provide translation and minimize project management allowing us to service a large company with just 3 people.
What do you dislike about the product?
Net Rate scheme pricing. It assumes discount per language is universal and that is not the case.

Phrase allows us to provide a self-service portal to anyone who requires translation, which keeps our headcount low.
Machine translation allows us to provide important information quickly to our hourly employees whose first language is not English.
It also allows to do gist translations of materials that will not be released but need to be understood by stakeholders in other countries (i.e. contracts).

What do you like best about the product?
the translation memmory system combined with the quality control system.
the api also gives you way more possibilities than using the ui of the website

What do you dislike about the product?
Different API calls often use the same input values but they are often named differently, that makes integrating Phrase in other projects a pain in the ass.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am looking forward to the use of AI in phrase!

What do you like best about the product?
The translation editor in Phrase, formerly known as Memsource, is a very efficient and user-friendly translation tool (CAT). It is certainly lighter and quicker than the industry leading CAT tools. It might not have the same amount of features, but for most purposes, it's all you need and it's much more intuitive to use. I have been using Memsource for several years and the platform is very stable.
What do you dislike about the product?
After the merger between Phrase and Memsource, there were some technical problems coming out of the sky. However, these were quickly solved. Also, as a standalone software for independent translators it's not that interesting compared to the big, offline-based CAT tools.

I use the translation editor to translate regular jobs for a customer.
A complete and easy to use Localization Platform
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Phrase Localization Platform is its Ease of Use, to have relevant information accessible, and the comments section, to quickly interact with team members and developers.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Phrase Localization Platform is the Search option regarding retrieving the legacy from previous translations or contrasting different documents or overall text for context.

Phrase Localization Platform enables me to work in a team, communicate easily in context, receiving all the indications, reference materials, context and terminology at one place, and access the translations and strings quickly and effectively.
Not so user friendly
What do you like best about the product?
Everything is in one place, I can access the translation, QA, MT, everything from a single place.
What do you dislike about the product?
I work with Phrase for several different clients, that means I have several different credentials for login. Before the last update, I could access easily the credentials, and change between them quickly. Now, I have to have them annotated in a different place, nothing is kept for a quick access, it very troublesome for me. In my opinion, this is a real inconvenient.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Phrase as a request from clients. So it is not my option, I just use because I am asked to. To me, Phrase is not really solving any problem.
Important features missing
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use and seamless integration with other tools we use on our daily work.
What do you dislike about the product?
We are missing important features, such as autopropagation since the first segment.

It brings us efficiency, saves time and we can centralize everything in one spot.
