Fits in nicely in our workflow

  • February 01, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Phraseapp is a powerful translation and localisation tool that will fit any organisation as the tool has been built up out of different modules included in the several subscription plans. You can choose to do the translations yourself, use off-site translators (as we do) but you can also request translations right from Phraseapp if you're in a hurry. Phraseapp offers extended API's so you can fit it into your workflow without any trouble.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing plans have gone up significantly in price, we can still use the legacy plan without hitting any limits but this is something that is on the down-side.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Translating our site into 5 languages using off-site translators.

Great to for localizing content.

What do you like best about the product?
- Esase of use.
- Powerful and reliable.
- Helps keeping things organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have not found any issues so far. We have negociated the pricing terms with them because we are a small startup and they have been always willing to help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a multiplatform tool that allows people to exchange feedback both on the personal and professional aspects of their life.
We offer this tool in 7 languages, but we support over 30 languages for the attributes each user must select while assessing their peers. This would not be possible for a startup like us if it weren't for PhraseApp.
We can quickly change texts and description across several platforms by uploading a .csv file with the changes we need.

Best Translation Tool

  • January 28, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
PhraseApp is the easiest to implement. As a software developer, it was incredibly easy to both implement and maintain over time.
What do you dislike about the product?
The GitHub integration process isn't customizable. However, we just have a manual process that takes a few seconds and works perfectly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use PhraseApp to help with our translations. As a software developer, it has been incredibly easy to implement the translation files in our application. It has also been easy for our product manager to work with translation services to get everything in.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Have your software developers do their research and try out the competitors. Then you'll come to the same conclusion we did, which is that PhraseApp is the best.

  • January 23, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like generalised interface for translation content that is up to date to everyone. It is easy to find what is missing, easy to point error on translations and push the task to update the locales.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unsure that I need new complex and modern features, but I still pay fee, that includes them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need to keep translation management out of the tech team and Phraseapp was the great tool to keep the translation tasks out of engineering crowd.

Great tool for everyday translation tasks

  • January 15, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I translate many different strings from very different projects, accessed everyday continuously by a lot of people. That being said, I never struggled once to load a page, to access a translation project, to share a link or to refresh a page. I actually open different PhraseApp tabs that I need to translation in the short term and it never slowed down or took time to load. I never lost a translation or else. It's a great tool to use on an everyday basis without running into issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes a bit of time to find all different features. A bit more guidance at the beginning would be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Again, the ability to work all on PhraseApp on same projects, on same strings even, to have a shared access to translations allows us to get translation suggestions and history and therefore be very fast in providing efficient and aligned translations.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would always advise translators of a company to give it a try!

a good surprise

What do you like best about the product?
I am impressed with the apparent simplicity of PhraseApp. From the user interface to the tracked versioning everything works flawlessly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Until now, a do not have a reason to dislike anything. The opposite is true: no down time; no data loss.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Help to translate from English to Portuguese. The translation process is set by evolving and permanent changes, the use of PhraseApp seems to protect the integrity of the process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I fully recommend PhraseApp in any translation job.

Easy tool that helps us to manage all our projects and language

  • January 10, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best is the translation suggestion and versioning of the changes. It helps our team member to collaborate in an easy way and provide quick feedback on the translations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Actually what we`re missing is some kind of reporting functions. Besides that we didn`t really find a weakness right now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As we have different projects that contains multiple languages, the biggest advantage if PhraseApp is to manage all of them on one place and it is easy to access by every team member to give input and to the transaction. This helps to speed up the delivery and of course the quality of our products.

My Italian and Chinese Colleagues LOVE PhraseApp

  • January 03, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I was looking for a way to streamline support for 17 languages in our newer Rails App. With our legacy Java apps, the process had been spreadsheets and shipping it off to various translators. Even our own native-speaker colleagues who worked in other parts of the world found the process difficult and error-prone without context.

My colleagues say it best:

"Honestly, it's great!!! It's way too easy and makes the translation more accurate since we know where they are. You know, same words in different place, there are differences in Chinese. I need to do more translation. " -- Howard Z. Managing Director, Xiangyang Specto Technology Company (Exclusive authorized agent for Intelliquip, LLC in China)

"PhraseApp is a really useful tool. the SmarSuggest are smart! At least for Italian. And in case of multiple choice [dealing with singular, plurals, etc], PhraseApp allow to address the appropriate translation to the right place. This feature is available only in App and not In-context. Also the Copy is useful when code is on translation. And Exclude save time when some words doesn't need to be translated." -- Massimo B., Knowledge Engineer, Italy!

"This is a really great way to do translations. The spreadsheet is way too hard to understand context. I love it! I am also surprised that the machine translation was as good as it was. Except for some technical industry terms, it was pretty good!" -- Kyohei Okuhara, Knowledge Engineer, Japanese native speaker

As you can guess, we are not building simple website. We have a complex engineering app to serve as the "Select, Configure, Price, Quote" tool for manufacturers of fluid handling equipment to help sell their products.

The in-context editor is critical for our engineering app. And the ability to work PhraseApp into our development workflow is crucial. The "Auto Pilot" makes it easy to get machine translations to "kick start" a new translation.

I like that I can integrate with Github and Bitbucket. It is now part of our development workflow.

And I would say the support team -- everybody really -- has been fantastic. Whether it is with needing help to get started on the right path, feature suggestions, bug reports, or feedback.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one "issue" that I have encountered (but I have workaround) is as follows:
I use multi-line plain-text markdown for lengthy help text (a markup language that uses characters like "*" for bullets, "#" for heading level, etc.). PhraseApp gets confused and tries to insert newline characters... As I said, I have a workaround so it is not an issue for me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The challenge was how to easily support languages in our new (as of 2016) Rails App used around the world. Our legacy Java app (developed back in 2000) uses a spreadsheet approach and an XML file that seemed arduous given how far the state of the industry has come. We wanted to explore some new ways.

So the benefit has been the ease with which we have been able to add new language support.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I was totally new to i18n, and PhraseApp did a webex or two with me and got me up and running in no time to make sure I did not waste any time fiddling around. And then I was "up and running" by integrating the in-context editor into our app -- including annointing certain individuals with the translator role. It's a fantasic experience.

PhraseApp an easy to use tool for iOS app localization

  • January 03, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
When we started to use PhraseApp in our project, some of the most annoying sources of error disappeared.

As iOS developer you often have to implement a feature that has a design but the wording of the labels in this design is often just placeholder texts, so you create the labels and create some keys for translation later on. Without a service like PhraseApp you now would have to chase your project manager to come up with translations (or he has to chase the customer in return). Now when the translations are ready you will receive the strings from your customer/pm or whatever, in a format that most of the times requires tedious hand copy pasting of the strings. Then after everything is set up the customer remembers that he wants to change the wording on this one key and on the next day another one. Now with the nature of branching software developing this also calls for conflicts.

But with PhraseApp:
1. Developer creates keys in PhraseApp
2. Codes away
3. Person in charge of localization adds translation for keys
4. Everything is updated and ready to use
5. Profit!
What do you dislike about the product?
There is honestly not a single thing I dislike so far. Maybe there are competitors with equally good offerings, I don't know. Also I can't really tell you something about the pricing as our customer takes care of that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- You can easily create and maintain localized software for every language you can think of with zero to no overhead.
- We deploy worldwide using PhraseApp.
- Had mistakes in your translation and the app is deployed? On the fly translation updates got you covered.
- Streamlined coordination of localization workflow.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Please review your localization workflow and take not of every error at every step that happened so far.
When considering PhraseApp you measure the costs associated with all of these incidents and weight it against the cost of PhraseApp.

Positive experience using Memsource to translate

  • December 22, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Memsource is that it is web-based and does not require that I download additional software to my computer in order to use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike are the different roles because it is not relevant for a single person using the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Efficiency. Using Memsource with its term bases and translation memories allows me to complete my projects both quickly and accurately.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Absolutely. It's quite simple to start out!
