Proofpoint SaaS Email Protection has worked well for us
What do you like best about the product?
I really liked setting up our Proofpoint cloud instance for the first time 3 years ago.. Since we migrated from ancient on-premises proofpoint servers we did not have a direct migration path and we had to do a lot of manual configurations to match our existing proofpoint services. I worked with a knowledgeable Proofpoint engineer and everything went very well. The rest of my team found Proofpoint to be well suited for administration, allowing the management workload to be shared by the team. We found proofpoint to be flexible and predictable overall. The underlying operating system is completely managed by Proofpoint so Unix experience is not necessary. Due to the cloud arrangement, there is no hardware to maintain and the cloud instance in manageable form for work and home. For the most part, Proofpoint is limited only by your imagination and there is a way to do just about anything.
What do you dislike about the product?
Many companies are required to encrypt sensitive emails, either by a secure email service or by TLS encryption. Since a secure email service is cumbersome, TLS encryption is a popular solution because it is transparent to both the sender and the recipient.
If you enable a domain for enforced TLS encryption, the sub domains are automatically included with forced TLS. This is problematic with large domains with many ad-hoc sub domains that don't happen to support TLS. Although it is possible to exclude certain sub domains, each case is different and generally involves a great deal of analysis and trial and error. Although we opened several support cases on this, we never received a solid solution. It is easier to decline requests for enforced TLS unless the sub domains will fully support it too.

Robust Email Protection
What do you like best about the product?
PP documentation and support. Both have been invaluable to my initial learning of the product and to the advancement of my role in managing the appliance. I have implemented advanced email policies that leverage advanced email firewall protection for our site.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the systems were integrated into one dashboard: email security, TAP, Support. This is not a deal-breaker, but the convenience would be nice. If I had to choose a second, it would be the support desk escalation process. If I am asking a complex question, I would prefer it to be addressed by an engineer that is familiar with what I'm asking rather that stuck at the level 1 technician that takes considerable more time to analyze.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Email TAP protection: spam, phish, ransomware, etc. Reporting is straight forward and easy to read and use for health checks and changes/edits. I've implemented SPF monitoring on trusted healthcare providers to ensure that, even if their sender information fails SPF, we will be notified and I can guide them to the documentation of best practice or allow their site. This has helped assure our physicians that they will not miss any anticipated email.
