What do you dislike about the product?
Whenever they release something, it almost always has issues and needs multiple revisions until it is usable in a production environment.
No way to influence decisions on what gets sent to the adaptive sandbox

Great solution for enterprise email security
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite part of Proofpoint is that it makes it easy to determine how many people a phishing campaign targeted and how many of the targeted individuals clicked phishing links. I also like that I can easily pull emails from end-users mailboxes and pull any emails they may have forwarded to other people within my organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm not too fond of the UI for the TRAP product, and I wish that Proofpoint integrated TRAP into TAP in the same way that they have integrated the email protection dashboard into TAP.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Proofpoint email security has helped my organization significantly reduce the number of phishing emails the end-users receive. Proofpoint has enabled the security team to focus on other areas instead of going through reported emails all day due to the large number of phishing emails caught by Proofpoint.
Great solution, easy to use and manage.
What do you like best about the product?
it is easy to integrate and manage. Customer support is great. They also have a user community with a lot of documentation that helps to find solutions.
What do you dislike about the product?
User interface/visualization for the server protection might be upgraded.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Email protection, we have a lot of phishing attempts for our VIPs.
If you have not switched you really should consider ProofPoint!
What do you like best about the product?
Email security, TAP, and URL isolation are the 3 top
What do you dislike about the product?
Too many consoles for all the different components. Need to be consolidated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Way better awareness to our user community
Can be very complicated and very expensive
What do you like best about the product?
The system works as one would expect, but you need to keep continually training it by resubmitting emails to the Proofpoint spam account or manually add the blocks required. Use the quarantine and daily digest to help the users review and keep track of those emails that are suspect.
What do you dislike about the product?
Getting initial and ongoing trainning on the system didn't seem to exist. Manual is not written for either admins or users that don't make this a full-time job - this system can easily become a full-time job for one or more people. Getting the sales rep to return calls and send us information and quotes at the renewal was like pulling teeth from a live shark in the ocean. They would send constant notices of the approaching expiration and call us about renewing, but getting information about pricing or changing the service became impossible. The sales rep was running out the clock trying to force us to renew by delaying every contact and response. Quotes to renew doubled with every new quote starting at $28K, then to $56K and finally to over $110K - all for nothing more than moving an on-premise email gateway filter system to the cloud and adding one feature that is comes with their cloud system. When we didn't renew, they threatened to sue, saying we had to give them 30 days notice of not renewing, yet all of their quotes to renew had expired or didn't arrive till after that final 30 day period started. We couldn't make a decision without valid information and pricing. All of this says to be very cautious, read everything, and look somewhere else.
After the person managing the system left it got dumped on the rest of us. We tried to fix some of the failing but every time we called support it was a waste of time. After a lot of research and reading we ended up fixing the issues ourselves. Support was nearly nonexistant.

Stopping spam and other malicious emails was the primary purpose. As long as the training of the system continued and users reviewed/managed their daily digest the system kept getting better about both recognizing and stopping potential threats. Remember, this system will still not prevent users from opening and clicking on things in the email. Additional training, monitoring, and notices of threats need to be sent out continually. Newer systems have enduser training and testing built-in, but our original on-premise system didn't have those features.
We also wanted to start using the SPF, DKIM, and DMARC features that are now available in email, but getting help from support wasn't possible.
Sales will promise everything even when they know the product can't deliver.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
They may be considered by some to be the standard that all the rest are compared to, but I would be looking at and comparing many other company's products - especially on price and the technical management of the system. I know that PP has been bought and sold recently and that may be part of the reason we had so many issues with the renewal and the lack of support, but it is not a good excuse. Read that contract and look for strange clauses like having to inform them when ending the contract or not renewing. Cloud systems are popular but they can be overpriced and you still have to manage it.
Proofpoint for email filtering
What do you like best about the product?
Proofpoint supports various email policies for filtering and threat detection methods, vast and beneficial.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes when you are analyzing the report email using the tool, it doesn't mask the URL accidentally we might click on those.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tool used as an email gateway in the exchange server environment. However, I suggest combining this tool with Proofpoint TAP and Trap for more security.
A good product with excellent capabilities
What do you like best about the product?
Email security, data loss prevention features
What do you dislike about the product?
User interface, bulk edit features, access to logs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Email security and data loss prevention in order to prevent the data loss of personal indentifiable information or PII in order to maintain PCI and SOx compliance.
PROOFPOINT EMAIL PROTECTION!
What do you like best about the product?
Efficiency and ease of use is wonderful. Knowledge of PP engineers are always exceptional. We use it on a continuous basis and it has been a great asset in our arsenal.
What do you dislike about the product?
Perhaps a little GUI work is needed. Some nicer and newer icons. Funtionality wise, it is excellent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Spams. They're everwhere. We had to switch from our old provider to something that actually worked. Which is where PP came in.
simple to setup and little to no maintenance.
What do you like best about the product?
how simple the UI and setup is. Everything is laid out in a nice and easy to manage UI
What do you dislike about the product?
The worst part of this software is the email sandbox attachment scanning. Sometimes it can take quite a while and really delay delivery of certain emails
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cloud Email Filtering, and Spam, Phishing Email Protection
Excellent Email Protection
What do you like best about the product?
Proofpoint Email Security provides excellent protection against various phishing and malware attacks. Their support and account teams are also very engaged and willing to help.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be great to see the ability to integrate additional tools such as our internal threat intelligence platform. Sometimes it feels like they aren't willing to provide as much support information to non-PTIS customers - for example, are we protected from X as a Proofpoint customer is not an intelligence inquiry, rather a customer protection inquiry and should be available to all customers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are protecting the company from various email threats including phishing attacks and various malware. We also use Proofpoint to gather intelligence on they types of attacks we see, who they target, etc.
