my view on SQL server
What do you like best about the product?
From my experience, Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Web on Windows Server 2019 offers a solid balance between performance and cost for web applications. I’ve found it particularly effective for small to medium-sized projects where you need reliable speed and good scalability without overspending.
What do you dislike about the product?
While it’s great for basic web applications, you miss out on advanced features like SQL Server Agent for scheduling and certain performance optimizations that are available in the Standard or Enterprise editions. I’ve also found the licensing model a bit restrictive since it's tailored specifically for web hosting, which can limit flexibility if your needs grow beyond that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The Web edition includes enough features to manage data, maintain reliability, and ensure security without the complexity or cost of higher-tier editions. By running on Windows Server 2019, it also benefits from modern server features, making deployments smoother and easier to manage.
easy to use and reliable
What do you like best about the product?
the reliability of the solution along with security gives developer good confidence to use it along with the maturity and less issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
windows pathing along with sql server patching can make it unstable at times and also the licensing cost is also a concern
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
using it as a database for workloads running in eks cluster by securely connecting to it
Works fine and meet basic expectations
What do you like best about the product?
One of the most important reasons for using this SQL server is that it provides seamless integration with the codebase. Easy to extract databases, supports most of the programming languages and the user interface is also very easy to interact with.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the major drawbacks is that it is not very compatible with Windows 11. Initially, it works fine but eventually SQL server takes a large chunk of memory which as a result makes the overall system slow. As the database size increases it leads to an increase in retrieval time and even hangs sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integration with applications is very smooth, programming language support is vast and for an average size of database, data manipulation is extremely easy to do.
Does the work
What do you like best about the product?
I think that the best part is that it is compatible with any programming language you use. I have used SQL Server 2017 with Java, .NET and C#. A very good data management tool which helps you to store, retrieve, modify and delete records in the DBMS. The SQL queries used are also very easy to learn. The software is very easy to install and use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Storage is the biggest problem. The SQL Server takes up a lot of memory space, by which the system becomes extremely slow. Another concern is about a technical issue we faced, but the free customer support was not adequate, so we had to go for the paid support. Other than that, no other issues so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The performance is quite good, connection with other apps and other languages is also very easy. Data modification using APIs is also very convenient. Development is easily done by incorporating SQL Server in our projects.
Fulfills basic expectations
What do you like best about the product?
Fond of the ease of development it comes with regarding to my web APIs irrespective of programming language boundaries. Data handling and management is truly commendable as there's no negotiation in the performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
While utilising the service during my data analysis I often face difficulties due to the memory space constraint. Often due to excessive data load, the service tends to fail in run-time. My suggestion would be increasing the memory division more effectively.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It benefits in various domains, out of which the most of it is consumed by web APIs in development and data analysis for further training models based on the analysis etc.
Ideal SQL Server
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how I can quickly utilise it to construct my core Java web APIs and entity foundation using code and database approaches. Aside from that, it helps me with my Machine Learning projects. It has excellent data handling capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
The overall cost of subscribing to this database server is quite expensive. Memory restrictions are the major drawback at times. We need to extend the database's limit, which doesn't go well here. The limit is up to 64 GB only.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is more efficient than a traditional SQL database. Building API is done quickly using Microsoft SQL Server 2017 and is an excellent alternative for training machine learning models.
Sql server with java, c++ etc.
What do you like best about the product?
Retreiving records from sql server is quite easy. Easy to store data. Compatible with many languages like c++, java, kotlin, c sharp. Can be used as a db storage tool and which can be connected to fromt end like react js.
What do you dislike about the product?
its expensive like all microsoft products, licensing is bit complex and sometimes takes time in loading.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Connectivity with database is easy with sql server 2019

Microsoft SQL Server 2017 and .Net Core on Windows server 2019
What do you like best about the product?
I like how I can easily use it to develop my .Net Core web API and entity framework using both methods, code first and database first. I have also been using this database for my Data Science projects both small machine learning projects and data analysis
What do you dislike about the product?
The maximum memory utilized per instance is only 64GB which is a problem when I want to run instances that require a memory that is larger than 64 BG
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
