Streamlining API Integrations with Retool: A Developer's Perspective
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite part about using Retool is how seamlessly it allows us to consume services from different APIs and tools. The built-in integrations significantly speed up the development process, making it incredibly efficient to build and deploy applications. Additionally, I really enjoy the GitHub integration, which simplifies version control and collaboration, and the fact that I don’t have to worry about hosting the application on my own servers is a huge plus.
What do you dislike about the product?
While I generally have a positive experience with Retool, one area for improvement could be the customization options for the UI components. Although the built-in components are robust, having more flexibility in styling and layout customization would enhance the user experience and allow for a more tailored interface to meet specific project needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Retool is solving the challenge of building and maintaining a complex back-office application that needs to interface with multiple APIs and databases. By providing a platform with pre-built components and seamless API integrations, Retool allows us to quickly develop and iterate on our back-office tools. This application is used daily by tens of employees, and the speed at which we can roll out updates and new features is crucial to maintaining our operational efficiency. Retool’s flexibility and ease of use have significantly reduced the development time and effort required, allowing us to focus more on refining the functionality and improving the user experience for our team.

Retool makes you a 10x develeoper
What do you like best about the product?
The iteration speed when building an app is what I like most with retool.
I build a first draft instead of writing a product specification, then the users test it and I can instantly modify or rebuild it the way the user prefers.

What do you dislike about the product?
That there is no way of separating creators and end users in a good way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Retool is solving a lot of lower priority feature requests which are cruital for the organization but that the tech team cannot work on right now.

A very convenient tool
What do you like best about the product?
It makes the process of building internal data management tools incredibly easy, and lets us offload tasks to our customer support and account management teams with very little friction.
What do you dislike about the product?
Viewing the internal functionality of an app isn't the most intuitive process, especially if it's an app somebody else has built so you have no familiarity with it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The need to create small and simple tools and dashboards that non-technical people in the organization can use to access data and account management functionality.
Great tool for iteratively creating back-office tooling with high velocity.
What do you like best about the product?
It's quite intuitive to use and has great in integreation with Postgres (and other DBs and APIs). The speed of development and iteration is also great - it helps out team to build the right sollution for our stakeholders.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice if there was a batch download for all apps to keep a searchable backup but to do so all apps would need to opt into the GibHub flow which is not an option for us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- quickly creating applications for our internal teams
- helping BE devs to create nice looking, well usable interfaces

What do you dislike about the product?
Dont have versioning on public links.
A branching feature would also be nice, right now its just latest and the changes before but all on branch.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working in the data department colaborating with tech to create internal tools used to take very long. We are now able to spin up POCs in a few days where it would take months with tech and our own dev stack. New features are added in a week rather than months. IT saves us soo much time in development.
A powerful tool

Amazing tool for rapid internal tooling development
What do you like best about the product?
Super fast development for internal tools. Minimal frontend knowledge required for a backend dev to build something quick for other teams to use. Really helpful for those one-off asks.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a dev, it can get a little clunky with a lot of the lower level stuff abstracted away.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our fullstack guy that did most of dashboard and internal tooling left, and there was a huge increase in load on backend engineers to cover his workload. Since moving the Retool it has been a breeze.
