great product / great company / great people
What do you like best about the product?
Astronomer's control plane provides fantastic visibility into our data operations. Astronomer offered the best mix of capabilities and structure of the managed data orchestration vendors we evaluated.
The thought leadership and support the Astronomer team provides are "best in class." Astronomer cares deeply about the success of their customers. Their approach is so unique that I have encouraged other vendors to look at how Astronomer supports customer success.

What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing significant at this point. Astronomer is a company that will address and resolve issues. (See my: "What do you like best?")
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Astronomer allows us to focus more on our data flows and less on Airflow configuration and maintenance. Astronomer's frameworks for addressing common problems have become a major accelerator for our team.

Astronomer is a well run platform with a great support team
What do you like best about the product?
Astronomer helps us avoid many low level details of running an airflow platform such as security, networking, and kubernetes. The support staff is very knowledgable and responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
We are not yet on Astro Cloud, we are on Software, so at times there are issues between the astronomer software and the environment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can focus more on writing Airflow DAGs and less time on boilerplate code.
Migrated from MWAA - pleased with transition and product
What do you like best about the product?
Most helpful part is definitely the pre-packaged docker container that comes with the local astro environment. It was way less bloated than our original self-built docker image and ran way better on my M1 mac.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think their pricing structure could have some odd incentives if you were a really large enterprise who wanted to use astro. It could incentivize you to write bulky tasks to reduce your task count which is antithetical to the philosophies of Airflow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Astro is handling all of the dev ops related to standing up and maintaining a data pipeline. Until you've tried to do this at an enterprise scale, you don't realize that writing the code is the EASY part, and that making all the services talk to each other is the hard part.
Great working with the team. Transparent communication and excellent responses.
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to categorize projects and setup airflow DAGs with ease. No need to worry about the physical setup for these projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some bugs and other feature related items. Mainly the ability to provide more granular roles for different users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to setup project spaces for airflow. Airflow allows the ability to monitor and provide dependencies for our processes.
Astro allowed us to get more from Airflow
What do you like best about the product?
Astro allowed us to get more out of Airflow by scaling up our deployments without the need to increase resources spent on managing the infrastructure. Version upgrades became easier, professional support is very friendly and efficient, and on top of that allowing us to take advantage of the Astro runtimes which provide us with wealth of improvements in top of the open source airflow flavour.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much comes to mind. It has been an overall improvement moving to Astro, and will do it again if we had to go back and take the decision again.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Astro Runtimes give us tried and tested ways how we can improve our code base when writing pipelines
Managed infrastructure allow us to focus on other areas, rather than managing the infrastructure

Astronomer is easy to deploy and manage
What do you like best about the product?
I love the ease of using Astronomer to manage our Airflow instance. We don't have to worry about devops or compete for internal engineering resources. We can can spend our time building data pipelines instead of keep the system up.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd love for more robust cli options for backfilling on the production cluster. I'd also love for Astronomer (or the community) to share code in the `include` section of Astro for how people manage various generic data operations. I bet that many companies are writing very similar generic Pyhon for the include section. Astro could start pushing packages for trasformation similar to the way Fivetran is pushing data models in DBT to help customers. That would help customers move even faster.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1-click ETL tools like Fivetran don't fit all our use cases and we need to be able to run real ETL jobs and write real code to do it.
Airflow managed service to make Data Engineers sleep better
What do you like best about the product?
Built on top of popular open source with timely update of new release
What do you dislike about the product?
Infra customization in which related to stuff we can customize on EKS cluster (we are using AWS for Astro Plan deployment)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Provide a solid infra where save us time to maintain.
Astro review
What do you like best about the product?
Cluster management and workspace member management all can happen from the UI.
What do you dislike about the product?
UI is not intuitive starting off. I had some troubles navigating around the deployment namespace.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing airflow deployment. Also airflow support when dealing with issues amongst the team.
Great for our enterprise scheduler needs
What do you like best about the product?
Less maintenance of Airflow by us and more focus on using airflow. The community is great too.
What do you dislike about the product?
I believe they are figuring out a lot of kinks, so support can definitely be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consolidating all our various schedulers into one, and providing us opportunities for workflow automations
Amazing
What do you like best about the product?
Chris Hronek is amazing. Our migration to Astrocloud took less than an hour.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing but compliments when it comes to Chris Hronek!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automated our entire ETL.
