Exactly what we needed
What do you like best about the product?
We needed an Airflow solution without the hassle - something that would allow us to focus our time on data science rather than on maintaining infrastructure. The Astronomer team was there to help us along the way, and the product just worked.
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit easier documentation to get us up and running quicker would be handy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a nonprofit with volunteers assisting us with data for good projects. Astronomer allows our volunteers to easily set up pipelines. We looked into self-hosting Airflow, but it would have cost us more in time and effort. It was quickly agreed that self setup and maintenance weren't worth it. The biggest value we get is the reliability around Astro, knowing that the Astronomer team is there to support us.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is very worth considering Astronomer over self-hosting Airflow. In the long run it will save a lot of time and hassle.

Drastically simplifies setting up, maintaining, and scaling airflow.

The ability to set up multiple deployments of airflow that can scale infinitely.

What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up a separate aws account to run astro inside of.
Lack of access to underlying resources. Debugging can only really happen in conjunction with support engineers.

Airflow made easy
What do you like best about the product?
Quick Airflow environment deployment. Good customer support.
What do you dislike about the product?
It might help to have more detailed metrics in the UI. Also, it would be nice to have the spot instances option to set your cluster.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can forget about DevOps work and focus on development.

What do you like best about the product?
Astro makes using Airflow (infrastructure, DAG deployment, extensibility) simple and painless.
What do you dislike about the product?
Clarity into what the local and deployed containers are doing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease in deployment. I can write my DAGs, test them, and deployment with simple, easy to use commands.
Deploying in AKS(Azure) , deploying and managing , Creating the pipelines and infrastructure.
What do you like best about the product?
In terms of the infrastructure, I really like that is working on top of Kubernetes. As I am working as DevOps I am more responsible for the infrastructure part.

Improving the documentation at some parts only

A lot of related to orchestration with our Analytics and Data teams

Positive energy from the support team, constantly adding new features.

I only had a problem once, because the Astro cloud service went down and our business processes went offline for a couple of hours.

What do you like best about the product?
The Astro team has been super helpful with tons of questions about Airflow, etc. (including some pretty gnarly technical ones)
What do you dislike about the product?
We didn't initially realize that "running in your cloud" meant "running in a new AWS account that you will have to set up" as opposed to our existing one
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've totally overhauled how we run our data-related jobs, which has been a huge win. It's easier to configure, monitor, and debug jobs now
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Two main things:
1. "In your cloud" DOES NOT mean "in your existing cloud." You will need to provision a new (e.g. AWS) account, which ended up being a pain for us as we had to set up an organization to share billing, etc.
2. Don't forget that the cost of _Airflow_ is not part of the cost of _Astronomer_. They charge whatever they charge, but running Airflow at the most basic possible config will cost you ~$1,000 a month from the start.

Built-in Airflow at scale without needing to devote engineering effort
What do you like best about the product?
Astronomer makes it so I don't have to care about infrastructure for Airflow. We recently onboarded a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer - and he hasn't had to touch Airflow at all. Scaling up is a simple UI button - and my team can focus on the core business logic, rather than undifferentiated heavy lifting.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much - the core logic is great - support is great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Batch jobs overnight to handle financial data processing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Astronomer is truly a partner to you - not just another client. Lots of information for onboarding, documentation, DAG best practices. Truly worth the price.
Makes Airflow Easy
What do you like best about the product?
Our team has enjoyed the ease that Astronomer provides when managing large amounts of customers and deployments. They also have great customer service that can assist with issues that are Airflow related.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have experienced some issues upgrading to latest Astronomer versions, but it seems most of those have been mitigated in the latest releases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are managing large amounts of customers, easy code deployment and registry management. Astronomer has helped us with some pain points in those areas.
