Helps quarantine and remove threats and detect malicious emails

  • November 16, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for preventing malicious emails that we're getting through Google's built-in spam filters. The amount of spam and phishing had greatly increased at our organization and we needed a solution implemented fast.

Check Point was really quick to integrate and implement and instantly started providing value. The reporting we got during our trial helped to quantify the value to the executive team, in particular, the report that shows what Check Point caught items that Google's spam filters would've let through.

How has it helped my organization?

The amount of spam and phishing getting through to end users has reduced drastically.

We are also now able to advertise how many malicious emails we get and how it is constantly increasing as we grow. This shows our users how valuable a solution like this is and they appreciate that sometimes it may get a false positive.

We're abe to show to users why emails are quarantined - which has helped to train them on what to look out for if they do receive a suspicious email. We have also improved our reporting process and notifications to admins.

What is most valuable?

First and foremost, Check Point's ability to detect malicious emails and the filters they put in place are a big improvement on the built-in Google Workspace solution.

Being able to mass quarantine and remove emails from end users' mailboxes has become extremely important to us as we have grown in size. Admins can be notified as soon as a suspicious email arrives in bulk mailboxes and can act extremely quickly. This has even helped us to notify partners that they had been breached before they knew themselves.

What needs improvement?

There are a few features that are more geared towards Microsoft users rather than Google, for example, user-reported phishing. It's not fully integrated with Google Workspace, and the statistics don't update in real-time.

We appreciate that Microsoft has the larger market share, and Check Point has been improving its Google integration. However, more advancements would be appreciated. That being said, the "What Google wouldn't have caught" report was extremely valuable to us in showing value.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for nine months.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated other solutions, such as Mimecast, Proofpoint, and Abnormal.

Easy to use and manage, even for non-technical users

  • November 01, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Our team primarily uses Google Workspace for email, so we were looking for a solution that could protect us from spam, phishing attacks, and other email threats.

Harmony Email fits the bill perfectly because it's an API-based product that doesn't require any MX record or other configuration changes. It's also very easy to use and manage, even for non-technical users.

What is most valuable?

I appreciate the ease of deployment and the intuitive dashboard. Even someone with basic IT knowledge can easily understand the dashboard and identify potential threats. With one hour of training, anyone can effectively use this product.

What needs improvement?

There are a few areas for improvement. One is the occasional sluggishness or latency, which is likely due to the cloud-based nature of the solution. So, the performance can be better.

Additionally, while Harmony Email can detect phishing emails that Google has missed, it would be even better if it could automatically quarantine or delete these emails.

Since we use multiple Google Workspace accounts across three separate domains, it would be incredibly helpful if Check Point Harmony Email could provide a single dashboard that consolidates all of this information.

Additionally, Harmony Email should support other email providers beyond Microsoft and Google, as I also use Joho with over a thousand email IDs.

Having a unified dashboard and expanding support to other email providers would significantly enhance the product's usability for many users.

Currently, I have to rely on a separate gateway solution, like Cisco, to protect my Joho emails. It would be much more convenient if Harmony Email could handle all of my email protection needs.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Harmony Email for about four or five months now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is cloud-based, so the performance is low. I would rate the stability an eight out of ten. It is stable but the performance is low.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability an eight out of ten. We have 300+ end users using this solution.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service and support are not very prompt like SonicWall and other vendors in the same space. Perhaps because Check Point is not as prominent in my region, their SLA is not terrible. It's just not very effective.

For instance, if I need support within 15 or 30 minutes, it won't happen. It could take up to four hours.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I initially started with Cisco Gateway. However, due to ongoing changes, we would have needed to modify MX records or other settings, making the configuration more complex.

As a result, we decided to try Check Point Harmony Email and Collaboration, and after conducting a proof of concept (POC), we decided to deploy it. We also checked Barracuda.

So, we chose Check Point over Barracuda during the POC. The primary reason was that Check Point Harmony Email is easy to configure and requires no MX record changes.

Additionally, it's more effective because it's an AI-based solution. It provides insights into the origin of emails, the connection between the sender and receiver, their previous email history, and the frequency of their communication. These features are unique to Check Point Harmony Email and Collaboration.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very simple because only API configuration was there. We provide a user and password on our dashboard, and we can use it remotely.

It took only 10 to 15 minutes to deploy. Initially, it takes time to collect the data and create timelines. The solution doesn't require any maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is in the middle. Check Point's pricing is not the highest in the competitive market.

It's more expensive than Barracuda but less expensive than Cisco. So, I would give it a rating of six out of ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Granular with good integration capabilities and helpful support

  • October 11, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for SaaS protection for 10,000 Gsuite users. How collaborators process data with sensitive information and information leaks was a constant concern. The collaboration solution allows you to have visibility of the entire SaaS environment and create customized security profiles to give optimal treatment to the information. This solution allows you to have very granular visibility at all times; this is of utmost importance as it allows you to make immediate and precise decisions about the security environment.

How has it helped my organization?

This solution has allowed us to have visibility of the security environment for the business and has allowed us to have specific treatment by users, user groups, and departments of the information that is processed. This allows users to be certain that their information is protected. Certain security problems were detected. Without this solution at the SaaS level would have been impossible to detect so there has been an improvement in the treatment of the attack surface and the protection of valuable data.

What is most valuable?

There are several features that were considered valuable. For example, the fact that the installation and integration of the solution with SaaS tools were very fast and highly recognized by SaaS administrators. I like the fact that having granular information about the potential threats is received in email. Being able to protect information repositories was of great interest to decision-makers. It was also possible to implement an entire environment in record time. Having this information allowed us to better model the attacking surface.

What needs improvement?

They should consider a module that allows the customizing of reports so we can generate executive information for the client (to explain in simple language the general security situation in the SaaS environment).

Reports should be presented in such a way that they are readable by non-technical work groups who are involved in information protection and who may misread the information on the dashboard and make incorrect decisions.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for four months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is very stable; it is a cloud solution and we have not had any operational incidents.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is very scalable since you only have to add licenses.

How are customer service and support?

They offer good support; you have several support options depending on the SLA you need.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The setup is very straightforward and very fast; it took about 20 minutes.

What about the implementation team?

The setup involved a mix of personnel and Check Point SE are experts in the area of security.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The setup was very fast; the license scheme was very easy to understand.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We also evaluated the PAN solution and Fortinet.

What other advice do I have?

I consider it to be a cost-effective solution that focuses on security and is a highly recommended and easy-to-use option.

What is our primary use case?

The solution helps to block spam emails. With this solution, the users mostly see what the solution posts on its dashboard. This helps users analyze the spam and data.

What is most valuable?

The solution can be easily integrated and takes a short time to be implemented. In addition, it provides a feature that prevents information from leaking from the company and blocks potential threats.

What needs improvement?

The left-hand feature can be made more granular for the implementation of the policy. Our clients want two solutions integrated into one, so this feature would help.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Check Point Harmony for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support team is good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Effectively secures your users' mailboxes against phishing and spam for any sized enterprise

  • August 18, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution to protect Office 365 and Gmail.

What is most valuable?

The anti-phishing feature is the solution's best feature.

What needs improvement?

A signature-based filter could improve the solution's AI model for spam email. It works right most of the time.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've worked with this solution for around a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable, and I rate its stability a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable, and I rate its scalability a ten out of ten. Both enterprises and SMBs use this solution.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support for the solution is good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

It is easy to set up the solution. Deploying the solution takes five minutes.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Harmony Email is an API-based solution. Legacy email gateway clouds, by comparison, only inspect internal emails, which include users' and end users' emails. Check Point inspects all emails before they reach the end user's mailbox.

What other advice do I have?

If you are looking for an anti-phishing solution, Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration is the best. I rate the solution a nine out of ten because the spam filtering is still not good enough, though it does not affect the security.

Has a user-friendly dashboard, a great anti-phishing algorithm, and sandboxing for testing

  • July 21, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Usually, the customer is on Office 365, and the main selling point for us is that approximately 95 percent of customers do not have the E5 license from Microsoft, which is the highest tier. As a result, they lack advanced email protection. Therefore, using a third-party solution is more cost-effective than upgrading to an E5 license, and it also offers greater sophistication. This solution can cover not only Office 365 but also other platforms. Furthermore, it carries the reputable brand name Check Point and is well-known in the security industry.

What is most valuable?

The centralized management dashboard is easy to use. We usually sell advanced packets that include sandboxing for attachments, which is highly critical to most customers. The solution has a very effective anti-phishing algorithm that detects a significantly higher number of phishing emails compared to the default Microsoft solution. Additionally, it is user-friendly. When customers need to make exceptions to the policy, they find it quite easy to navigate the dashboard. However, what customers mostly care about are the anti-phishing and sandboxing features.

What needs improvement?

The price has room for improvement. Perhaps, if Check Point offered an SMB bucket for up to 100 users or a similar option. This could be beneficial as it would likely result in a more cost-effective solution.

I would like Check Point to extend its coverage to include more cloud applications. Currently, 95 percent of our customers are using Office 365 or Google Mail. It would be beneficial if the solution covered a broader range of applications.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We haven't experienced any stability issues with the solution as it is cloud-based and thus quite stable. I can't say the same for another cloud product, though. The stability is mainly due to the architecture rather than the solution itself.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scaling the solution is not a problem because it is cloud-based. The number of customer email accounts can range from fifty to five thousand; it doesn't really matter for the solution.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is average. Like with most companies, when they are not dealing with an enterprise customer, their response is usually medium to slow, unless it's a very critical issue.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Some of our customers used FortiMail but discovered that certain malicious emails were able to bypass the solution, unlike Check Point, which identified and quarantined the emails.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easy. The deployment takes ten minutes and requires only one person.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Due to its pricing, I would say that Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration is more suitable for medium to enterprise organizations. For smaller customers, they usually require something more affordable, but it's not related to the features of the product. It's clearly about the pricing.

The license is issued on a yearly basis. On their website, we can observe a price per month, but it's derived from the yearly cost. I don't believe we have the option to purchase it for just a few months, for example.

As far as Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration is concerned, we only need to pay for the license. Additionally, we have the option to integrate or add an additional support package, which includes the implementation course, and so on. However, for the solution, we only need to pay for the license.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration an eight out of ten. It's a good solution, but I rarely give a perfect ten to any product. So, I believe it offers a fair value with some room for improvement. It could be rated nine out of ten.

As Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration is a cloud-based solution, there is no need to assist users with hardware-level maintenance. Everything is managed in the cloud, eliminating the necessity for updates or firmware adjustments, among other things. However, like any cybersecurity solution, it is essential to keep the policies up to date. For instance, within our organization, we need to periodically train staff on configuration and maintenance to ensure it remains current. Although it requires some maintenance, it is minimal, and one person is sufficient to handle it.

We work with medium and enterprise customers.

As long as the pricing is acceptable for an organization, I would recommend Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration because it provides a good solution for its offerings.

An easy-to-deploy and scalable tool useful for mail encryption

  • June 26, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

If we talk about use cases, one of our customers is using o365, and one of the customers is using G Suite. On top of that, they require email security along with an anti-APT solution, anti-spam, anti-phishing, and business email compromise with next-generation antivirus included. One of the major use cases is internal communication using an encrypted solution or encrypted mail, especially if internal users send some mail to a particular customer and they require encrypted mail. They also require an encrypted mail solution.

What needs improvement?

With the kind of features we are looking for, be it with Barracuda or Check Point, we are looking at how we can showcase them to the customer and claim that this one is the best solution for your infrastructure and use cases.

I would like Check Point's technical support to be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for five to six years. My company is a distributor of multiple OEM solutions.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Most of the customers are using another vendor's solution, so most are looking for a particular email security solution. Whoever has used the solution was facing some challenges till some time ago, but gradually Check Point is improving the solution. So now they are still happy with the solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are multiple customers using the solution. Sometimes they have 100 or 200 users, and they are expanding their team and they are purchasing licenses because if they are increasing users, automatically, mailboxes are increased. We are providing the per-mailbox solution. They are ready to purchase the new licenses for those new mailboxes.

I rate the solution's scalability an eight out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

Check Point's technical support is very much of a low level, especially with respect to other vendors and OEMs. Check Point tries to ensure that they are providing good technical support with respect to the solutions and services it provides.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is very easy. I haven't faced any complexity with the setup of the solution.

The deployment took almost four to five years.

I am from the presale side, the solution architecture side. The implementation and deployment teams are different. We have a different team for the deployments and implementations of any particular solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Usually, we pay for the licensing part on a yearly basis and not on a monthly basis.

If Check Point's team is providing a good amount of discount, then it is very easy for us to select it since its competitors are also giving the best prices or best discounts.

What other advice do I have?

It is easy to deploy. With every customer, we just share our thoughts and the experience. It's a very easy-to-implement solution. Check Point is a good cloud-based solution with respect to email security, and Check Point is a very powerful tool with respect to other OEMs.

I rate the overall solution a nine out of ten.

Offers an API that adds significant value to the email session

  • June 01, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Basically, it protects email services like Office 365 or G-Suite as well as business communication like Slack and Teams, and offers advanced protection against phishing and attachments even before they reach the mailbox. It also includes a DLP (Data Loss Prevention) feature that can be configured to prevent sensitive information from leaving the organization via email. Additionally, it provides advanced security measures to protect against account takeover.

The email protection piece utilizes an API rather than an agent, which is more basic. This API-based approach allows for greater flexibility and integration with other systems. You can also configure it to send suspicious items to a sandbox environment for further analysis if you're not comfortable relying solely on the automated solution.

What is most valuable?

The API is super valuable because it's not really embedded in the email session. It's more like it comes in, and before it hits your mailbox, Check Point inspects it.

Many products require running it through a specific Web Gateway or some kind of intermediate box like Barracuda, or an agent installed on Outlook among many ways. Check Point is more advanced, so it's up there with the best. In my opinion, it's one of the best products. It does protect other things like Slack and Salesforce, which are more about communication. It also covers collaboration tools like OneDrive, Dropbox, and Box. That's the collaboration part.

What needs improvement?

It would be nice to see them expand their collaboration capabilities to include other suites and integrate with lesser-known products. For example, there are other collaboration tools besides Box and Slack that they could explore.

For how long have I used the solution?

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is excellent. Check Point is a company that has acquired matured technology from other companies and integrated it pretty well. I've seen integrations from other companies that were lacking, but Check Point has done a great job.

Check Point has also developed its own solutions based on its security knowledge and experience. Being an Israeli company, they have access to some of the best resources in the field.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is a significant component of Check Point, as it is built for companies of any size.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service and support team is great. I never had a problem with them.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used to work as an IT manager in a biotech company that utilized Check Point, which is why I've always liked their product. It's designed for complex environments and connecting multiple branches. It can be challenging for many companies, but it's intended to handle such complexities. Overall, Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration is a great product.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very straightforward. It's actually quite easy to set up and configure because the system handles everything. You don't have to install anything separately. You install the agent for the whole solution, and you can choose to enable or disable the email component. Then you simply configure a few settings, and you're done. The real action happens in how it handles incoming emails.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The security solutions of which Email and Collaboration are a part is competitive because Check Point competes on both technology and price.

Check Point often competes with companies like Microsoft, Sophos, and CrowdStrike. Check Point offers competitive prices. Some companies may advertise lower prices, but they exclude essential components like email security or browser security, which you need to pay extra for and in the end they cost the same or even more.

So the pricing is highly competitive. It's comparable to other companies of the same caliber, such as Microsoft and CrowdStrike. However, with all of them, if you opt for managed services, the pricing can vary, becoming more of a black box. It's usually not publicly published and is often negotiated based on specific needs. Similar to storage pricing, you need to be aware of the details and negotiate. But overall, the pricing is excellent and on par with other leading solutions.

When comparing Check Point with lesser-known products like Kaspersky and others, it's important to consider the target market. If you're dealing with multinational corporations, or hospital systems, their requirements differ, from smaller companies, and they may be considering solutions from SentinelOne, CrowdStrike, Sophos, or Cylance, however, you have to make sure the product offers all the specific components like email or browser security that Check Point provides. Check Point is known for its comprehensive range of solutions, including firewalls, which can be deployed to endpoints.

What other advice do I have?

I would give it a nine out of ten. It's a great product overall. I hesitate to give any company a perfect ten because there's always a chance of unexpected issues arising in the future. But so far, I haven't encountered any problems with Check Point. It would be nice to see them expand their collaboration capabilities to include other suites and integrate with lesser-known products. For example, there are other collaboration tools besides Box and Slack that they could explore.
